Football Jersey Wearing

The whole Darrell Scott jersey for sale got a couple of my friends and I talking and it seems a couple of them are against the whole notion while some are for it. One who is a gator fan said you don't see them at the game and those that are get some laughs and the other who is a ohio state fan says they are every where on gameday. Is it a school by school thing? And where does CU fit in? Just wondering what some people think on the subject.

I own three jerseys. One, a black #14 Koy Detmer, the other a white #1 Craig Ochs (or maybe Eric Bienemy, Ben Kelly or J-Fly). The last is a #3 autographed game jersey signed by Hagan, Flannigan and OC Oliver. That one never leaves the hanger.

I'll be getting a black #2 here pretty soon. Perhaps by the end of this weekend.

For me, it's a "no". Just my personal sense of style. I do wear a lot of CU gear (only one item at a time--another rule), but no jerseys.

I think they're great for other folks who like to wear them.

I'm not a big Jersey guy either in college....in the NFL yeah, but at a CU game I wear Gold and am an advocate for everyone else to do the same!....unless it's a Blackout...where that Black jersey might come in handy - WVU!!!!

The only CU jersey's I have or have worn are my 2 Southward jersey's. At this point, they are semi-retired. Before that I'd never worn or had a jersey

I received a #7 jersey back in 2000 from my wife. I have worn it to three games - all losses so it never leaves the closet. Still trying to find out how to get rid of the goocher that must be in that one.

I burned the CU ballcap I purchased at the 2001 Fiesta Bowl. It was a full on goocher and went up in smoke.

Do the right thing. Don't let your wife see you.

Funny, I was at that game and thought about doing the same thing. Remeber how the Army skidiver with the CU flag crashed landed. I knew we were in trouble as soon as I saw that. :sad2:

I have a black #14 Detmer, a gold #7 Hessler and a black #1 Ochs. I love them dearly, but I don't think I've worn one in a few years. If you can pull off baggy, 3/4 length sleeves and shiny material without looking like a wannabe puff daddy, then go for it.

Let's be honest: my girlfriend wouldn't be caught dead with me in one of those jerseys.

Man... I almost ordered one of the new ones yesterday but now all ya'll got me nervous that it's a socially unacceptable thing to do! Plus they're like $65!! I think I'd rather spend my $65 on a CU polo...

Which, according to all of the fashion experts in here is exactly what I should do! =)

You gotta stay troo to the Phatmack, brother. Jersey's are cool, especially on game day. It's just not my thing--I've gotta stay troo to the Walrus.

I have two. One is a #1 Ben Kelly jersey. The other is a #76 game worn Big 8 jersey that I got when they used to do the garage sales (got at 94 spring game I believe?).

I usually wear the #1 jersey if I wear a jersey to the games...the #76 jersey only comes out for special occasions since it is not in the greatest of shape these days.

Don't believe the Gator fan hype on this. Down south, they treat the college games as a semi-formal event. All the girls wear their cocktail dresses, and the guys wear a shirt (and often a tie). They do things differently down south, always have...always will.

Well, I have contemplated a few things.

My buddy and I might pull together some of our goocher clothes and take them to the dry cleaner. Maybe we can steam the sh*t out of them. Can you imagine the look on their face when we ask them to dry clean a bunch of jerseys and t-shirts?

Another thought is dunking it into the baptismal pool at church..but then again, the wrath could be very painful for us all :smile2:. Besides that, a past teacher/friend of mine who is a bishop already thinks I should be excommunicated.

Fire might not be a bad approach...

that is where i am at....i am not sure what to do now. i don't want to look like a tard

I have a #14 that DD got me a couple of years ago. He has now stolen it so that he can wear it to the games. We are going Buff stuff shopping for him this weekend.

I have quit a few. # 7 Sykes in Gold and Black. #1 Ben Kelly in white and my new pride and joy #3 Big 8 game worn Leomiti.

I have a Chris Brown jersey and just got a Dizon jersey for Christmas. I wear them for every game, but other than gamedays, they stay in the closet.

I have a good friend who is into NASCAR, big-time. We went to Vegas and for 3 days all he wore was one NASCAR jersey after anohter. It was embarassing to be around him...

I cut up the CU hat I wore to the Montana State game, sometimes its necessary. As far as jerseys go, I think its only cool when its a jersey of a former buff i.e. #10, #3, #1.

Here is a rule of thumb for Jersey wearing:

If you are in college/college age/just graduated it is fully socially acceptable to wear a jersey. Ages 1-26 or any Hot woman. I stress hot because its not acceptable for your fatty girlfriend who has put on 20 lbs since freshman year to have her gut hang out for everyone to see. Put it away.

Anyone older I would recommend the Polo. Its classy yet still represents. You can rock out either with a flat brimmed hat or with dockers. Either way. Ages 18-99

Don't be that fan who is too old for their clothes. If you want examples go to a game in Lincoln. I am from there. The jersey is acceptable to everything including weddings funerals and church.

I have #22, #44 in black, #1 in white & #7 in 'Las Vegas Gold'
One of those #2's are in my future.

We are allowed to wear CU stuff on Friday's before game day -
I wear jerseys then or at games only.

Jerseys are great for any of three occasions: the day before the game, the day of, and the day after... Any other time and you are most likely (99% of the time) flirting with douchebag status.
