7-0 Gamecocks late in the first.

Vandy just doesn't fit in with the rest of the SEC, kind of like Northwestern in the Big 10(11).

I think he meant academically - I don't think Baylor will ever be confused with Northwestern, Stanford or Vandy along those lines.

Actually, I meant a combination of academically, football team, and stadium/fan support. Both the Big Ten and especially the SEC pack huge stadiums every week, while schools like Vandy and NW can't even fill smaller venues. Baylor is certainly similar in 2 of the 3. :smile2:

I've always thought there should be a conference for the 'smart schools'
a 'lower tier Ivy BCS league' conference-

Stanford
Rice
Tulane
Northwestern
Duke
Vanderbilt

need at least two more schools-
who am I missing ?

Tied at 10 in the 3rd. South Carolina may start our 4-1 or even 5-1 but don't be misled, they'll be lucky if they end up 8-4. 7-5 or even 6-6 is probably more realistic.

Rutgers
Georgia Tech
Georgetown
SMU
Baylor (maybe)
AFA

There, ya got a semi-super conference, worthy of 2 divisions and a nationally televised CCG.

Travel for conference games is gonna be hell, tho.

How long before Spurrier admits to himself that he's taken Carolina as far as they're going to go and he has to give it up and move on?

In defense of Baylor, Standford, Duke and some others. They may not be football power houses, but they kick ass at other sports and have the banners to prove it. I know we all think Baylor should not be in the B12, but they have more overall national championships than we do. :sad1:

Doubtful. We have something like 15 skiing championships. Add in a cross country championship here and there and I'd bet we have more than Baylor.

Point taken, though. Baylor won the women's basketball championship 2 or 3 years ago. That's no small accomplishment considering UConn and Tennessee are still very strong programs.

I think Baylor is really good in track and field.

Sorry, I meant B12 championships.

Wiki says Baylor has two NC's, and 57 Conference Championships.

The Colorado Buffaloes have won 23 NCAA championships, including 17 in skiing, three in men’s cross country, two in women’s cross country, and one in football. (This is from the Cu website.)

No idea how many Conference Championships CU has.

Dang, I was pretty close for just guessing off the top of my head. :congrats:

He basically admitted in the offseason that if he can't get it done at SC soon then he would give it up and give someone else a shot. I can't recall if he put a definitive timeline on that or not.
