ECU all the way to #14? I know they have played well, but that is quite the jump isn't it? Good for them though.

Now, I asked how many 15-25 teams would have to lose for CU to get ranked... we are up to 5 I believe. I contend that CU is ranked w/ a victory over WVU. Might be a long-shot, but within the realm of possibilities.

Highly doubtful after the way WV looked yesterday. Beating # 25 doesn't get you from zero votes in the AP to ranked in one week.

Win the next two AND look good doing it, and now we're talking.....

I'm sure you are right, but I wrote that before I realized that WVU was so punished for losing to the #14 team in the nation.

I can't believe that WVU went from #8 to #25 over that loss. With that reasoning, had Ohio St. not squeeked out their victory they would have been out of the rankings completely. I don't think that would have happened. I think Ohio St. would have fallen no lower than 15-17 because they are so loved by the writers.

The drop from #8 to #25 seems about right to me. Even though the WV game wasn't a blowout, they never seriously threatened to make a game of it.

I don't disagree, but I just think that teams like WVU and say CU get disproportionally punished in comparison to some other media darling teams.

I don't know, I mean OSU did drop 2 spots in both polls even though they ended up winning by double digits.

ECU was unranked at gametime, hence the drop from 8 to 25. It was an ass whipping.

There shouldn't be rankings until after week 4, when typically teams are going into conference play. IMO. But, bottom line, it doesn't sell as many magazines without them.
