I keep hearing the arguement that the vanilla play calling is because Hawk doesn't want to tip his hat to the likes of WVU and FSU. This arguement makes SOME sense, but I don't think it's right. Here's why:
Even if Hawk was keeping things close to his vest, you'd still imagine that we were at least practicing more elaborate stuff, right? If we're practicing it, why on earth was the defense so completely fooled and out of position when EWU ran that trick play yesterday? It was like they had never seen anything like it before...
