USC - unbeatable?

They looked like it yesterday. Damn that team has talent to burn. Their 2nd and 3rd teamers would start just about anywhere else. Freaky. The only way anybody beats them this year is if they fall asleep and allow it to happen.

I'm just praying that Miles Brand pulls his head out of his ass for a half a millisecond and puts them on the probation they deserve. No, I'm not holding out a lot of hope for it. :sad1:

I think they're extremely good, but they're certainly not unbeatable. I know he didn't make any glaring errors, but was I the only one who wasn't all that impressed with Sanchez?

If they play their game they're unbeatable, but we all know that just about anything can happen in college football. Look no further than USC losing to Stanford last year, the only explanation could've been that their heads weren't in the game. That could certainly happen again, although I wouldn't count on it. :smile2:

McKnight is scary good.

USC is very, very good, again. Not unbeatable. They spanked a mediocre Ohio State team.

Conference games often provide unexpected threats (Mizzou in 1990, for instance--or any time we play ****ing Baylor).

USC was hit hard by the injury bug last season, which, as I understand it, contributed significantly to the Stanford loss.

USC is damn good, but THE Ohio State University is THE most overrated program in THE most overrated conference. And don't hold your breath about USC getting put on probation. Reggie Bush getting money from an agent isn't the same thing as a booster paying a guy to come to USC.

:yeahthat:

I don't think it's as much that USC is unbeatable, (which they still are deservingly the #1 team in the nation) but Ohio State is not that good. They really aren't... Perhaps the media can get off their nuts now, and perhaps start to hypothesize that the Big Ten is mediocre at best.

Saw a good sign while watching GameDay yesterday:

"THE Over-Rated University"

I just wonder how many times Brent "Mushburger" blows Pete Carroll in one day? If there is one thing that I can't stand, it's Brent's color commentary. Oh the day's of good ole Keith "Whoa Nellie" Jackson!

Ever since Brent called a group of protesters at Berkley a bunch of treehuggers - on the air - he's OK by me.

Fixed.

USC is good. They cemented #1 with that win. OSU was overrated but thats the nature of having a stupid pre season poll. The fact is the coach from Youngstown State has not reall put together a great offensive team since all his predecessors talent left.

If the condoms play that well every week than they should have no problem getting laid a lot.

I think we're all in agreement that the cheaters are incredibly good this season. Who do you see with the firepower to take them down? I'll throw my hat in the ring with Mizzou or Florida. Keep in mind I'm not saying they would, head to head, just saying they look like they could keep up with them long enough to pull it off.

Oklahoma is really good too. And the Buffs, of course.
I think OU is outstanding this year but I'm not so sure that they don't have another hiccup like they've had regularly for the past few seasons. If they can keep their focus against lesser teams, they will be a force and we will have ourselves one hell of a CCG.

I think it's more they have to play down to someone's level to lose rather than anyone playing up. There are other good teams but I only see a Vince Young type player being able to foil the championship for them.

SC has awesome talent. They are where I hope the Buffs will be someday (except for the violations part) I don't think they are that far ahead of a couple of other teams - OU, LSU and the Gators in level of play this season

OSU isn't as bad as you might think. I talked to a couple of OSU grads in Chicago and it seemed like the talent is there - creative offensive coaching is not. Even they called their offense "boring". Anybody besides me think Tressel is dull offensively and needs to just bite the bullet and go with Pryor for the rest of the season? The kid looked like the real deal to me. Even raw he'll put fear in the heart of a defense.

Watching that game, I don't think offense was OSU's problem. They moved the ball on USC, but had a bunch of mistakes that killed their drives. It was their defense that shat itself.

You got to be able to get more then 3 points, mistakes or not. And I agree with getting Pryor the ball. If he can get accurate he will be good. His running style reminded me a little of Vince Youngs. He looked like he was barely running, but nobody could get a clean shot at him. That used to piss me off with VY. Hit the bastard!

As impressive as OU was in beating UW, and as impressive as Mizzou has been so far, I don't see either team being able to beat USC. Same deal for Florida, Georgia, Texas, LSU.

Without a doubt, I think USC top to bottom is playing great football, but at the same time, I think it's a mistake to use Virginia and Ohio State as gauge to determine whether or not USC is unbeatable. Unfortunately based on the Pac-10's early season performance, I don't think USC will will get that test until January. I have a feeling that Ohio State will suffer similar losses to Penn State, Wisconsin and possibly Illinois.
