What a Win...but BIASED play by play

First things, first....WOW. That was a great win. We had several chances to score in this game and just couldn't finish. An overtime win was a fitting end to a hard fought game. Rodney Stewart is the man...and Cody...we'll I'll leave that alone.

Ok...perhaps someone can help calm me down here. I'm never one to complain after a victory, but did anyone listen to the ESPN coverage??? I understand that there is a reason why ESPN is at Colorado covering the game, and it's not beacuse of Colorado. It was the most biased game calling I have ever heard. No one should ever...I mean EVER accuse Fowler of being a CU fan...they were talking up WVU the ENTIRE game. No love for CU whatsoever. Even Palmer sounded like he enjoyed seeing CU play more than Fowler did, but Fowler alone is not my gripe.

CU was tired on the side line, WVU was fresh. The WVU offensive was trying hard...the CU defense was getting lucky. The CU offense was sputtering...the WVU defense was tough. The bad for WVU was a result of coaching...CU got lucky. Nothing was going right for CU although they won the game. I HATE THE ESPN BIASED COVERAGE. So much that I muted the TV the the last 2.5 minutes of the game and most of OT. Am I the only one here??? If anyone knows me...and anyone has followed my thought process in these blogs, they would understand that I'm NOT one to complain, but this was absolutely terrible.

"they were talking up WVU the ENTIRE game. No love for WVU."

dork. at least get your bitches striaght! dork!

Ehh, I didn't think it was bad. WV has a lot more big name players right now... really, the only big name on CU's roster is Darrell Scott, and considering that he barely touched the ball tonight they spent a whole lotta time talking him up.

I didn't think it was biased at all. They spoke very well of Stewart and Scott. They gave props to Cody Hawkins. They mentioned how the offensive line was a problem for us in the two previous games (true), and that they were better this game (also true).

But they also gave props to WVU where it was due. It was a tied game that went into OT, so they must have done something good too.

The only biased part was the SEC dicksucking part. I mean our offense is team of of freshman and sophomores with no story to talk about. While Pat White is a senior super qb. They also talked about hypo and nicholas more than the wvu defensive stars.

Fowler was decent...I have no complaints about his work at the game tonight, but I do think that the broadcast and production as a whole was generally tilted somewhat in favor of WVU, which I do take issue with...

I thought they were pretty good... obviously ESPN pushing the more famous/popular school and players.... but overall I thought they did great.

Yeah, I didn't feel that at all.. I think the booth had bigger expectations for WVU and that's only natural, but I didn't seem that they were biased in their coverage of the game..

Actually thought the booth was pretty good..

At one point they showed the booth (we were up 14-7), and it seemed to me like Fowler was trying to dial back his own expectations. Like he was afraid to get too excited because of the possibility we were going to blow the lead and lose.

I know that feeling well from the Barnett years. Of course, now the Hawkins years brings the nailbiting feeling...

The only complaint I have-and it's a big one-is that they kept droning on about what a big game it was for WV. They had to have it, blah, blah, blah. Well for my money, CU needed this game as much if not more. We're (and I mean CU Nation) trying to become relevant again and we need to win these games to get there. We had just as much to play for as they did and now going forward we have even more to play for. Great win CU. You're young, but learning fast.

I am starting to like this broadcast team of Fowler, James and Palmer... i think they did an excellent job tonight of what I saw of the game (1st half). I really have a great respect for Chris Fowler as he is such a professional in the booth, especially tonight. I have no doubts he was want to "scream his ass off" for the Buffs like everyone other Buff fan there...

My bad... put a WVU where I should have put a CU....won't make that mistake again...how do you spell straight??....DORK. Go back and listen to the coverage...guaranteed once the high of the win wears off you will notice how completely WVU biased they were.

Regardless...I'm loving the win!! Lots of gutsy plays and lots of gutsy calls. I dare to say...pulling something off next week against FSU...and we would be right in the thick of things....I'm going to the game and can't wait!

idot. i hope no wvu fans read this. once your drunkeness waears off, you will feel like a complete tool.

enjoy that when you wake up.

Would you rather have them suck on CU's knob? I loved the coverage--to me it sounded pretty fair, anmd we were the underdog, correct? I would hate for Fowler to turn into another homer like Holtz and Herbstreit (although he has gotten better).

I didn't get to watch the game but the highlights I saw when I got home seemed biased. SportsCenter hyped up the segment and then blew threw it in 45 seconds. They showed one of our touchdowns. Showed one of Pat White's TD runs, while calling our defense a JV team, (they looked it on that play, bad angles and a worse tackle). Then showed WVU doinker off the upright and Hawkins cheering after. Finally out FG to win. All in 45 seconds, I almost missed it,

All in all it looked like a good game with some excitment. Good win so far, ;ets see how they react next weekend on hostile ground.

It seemed like both teams got coverage but for the only game on tonight and on ESPN's network; it sure didn't get any coverage.

When CU was playing well, they were talking CU up like crazy. There was endless praise for Sterwart throughout the game. The reason they talked up WVU was because in the third and fourth quarters there wasn't much going on with CU's offense to talk up.

Sports casters are likes flags in the breeze. They blow with the wind. CU scored 14 points in the first two minutes of the game and then nothing until OT. That doesn't give the guys in the booth a lot to gush about.

Honestly, I'm shocked they had Fowler do play-by-play on this game. But I think he did a pretty good job of containing his CU Alumni excitement. (as far as i could tell, the bar i was at started to get a little noisy at the end) He looked nervous as hell before that last drive though.

Don't you know that there is an employment policy at ESPN that requires all on-air talent to have IQ's under 80. I used to think Fowler might be an exception given his CU degree but I may have been wrong.

i did not see any reason to take exception to the coverage. they were pretty balanced in their love given.

When i told one of my friends that the play-by-play man (Fowler) was a CU grad she wasn't surprised. She said it sure seemed like it cuz he would seem to get angry when a call went against CU and he was noticeably excited during the end of the game. And she noticed all this before knowing he had any CU ties:thumbsup:
