Bill Stewart is an idiot

Thanks for the chance to go into overtime. Stewart wasted at least 30 seconds of the last minute. The ESPN crew kept saying "what is going on, why doesn't he call a timeout.
?" The idiot finally did with 4 seconds left. Congrats to Speedy - most yards ever by a CU true freshman running back. Also, a great game by our defense.

Yeah, I posted this in another thread.. I also thought WVU had some strange playcalling on 3rd down the whole game..

After listening to Bill Stewart at halftime, I kept thinking to myself, "this guy is not a head coach". You could see him on the sideline and he simply doesn't have the presence of a HC. I actually felt sorry for him.

Defense played a very good game. Third down was incredible. Avoid 3-4 big plays and we're golden.

Offense looked amazing at times but still shoots itself in the foot too often. Cody needs to protect the ball better when there is pressure. Stewart is amazing and will only get better. He learns to make that one cut or get past that last guy and he's gone. Scott also showed some good stuff.

Not perfect. WVU helped a lot. But it's a win against a top 25 team on national tv. Stadium looked good. Atmosphere looked good.

Go Buffs!

New staff. I thought he was running it down to 4 seconds so they could kick. After the Big BCS win that got him the job they sure look confused and disoriented. Didnt know they lost 10 starters on defense. There offense looked pretty good. Devine out of the game at the end with a problem with his helmet???? Yeah they have some preparation problems.

That was the worst performance by a head coach I have ever seen in my life. The clock management down the stretch was abysmal. Stewart has no business being a 1A head coach.

:yeahthat:

We were completely mystified with that final regulation possession last night. The guy is not long for WVU....

I don't know for sure that Stewart cost WVA that game, but he didn't help their cause, either.

Everyone is on Stewart's ass for not calling a time out sooner at the end of the game, but I don't see anyone giving him his props for making CU run a 4th down play at the end of the second half. Also, he was on the OC ass at the end of the game for clock management. Seems more like it was a new staff communication issue that a decision issue.

It's nice to know that sports fans every where are the same anymore. People have lost all perspective anymore about coaching staffs and player ability. You are either a genius or a moron. You are either great or a bum. I have really gotten to the point that talking to people about sports rationally is impossible to do. Sometimes I really question if 90% of sports fandom has EVER played a sport competitively outside of 10 year old soccer and 9 year old tee-ball.

WVU played a great game. They shut us down in the second half after they made their adjustments. If I recall we were like 6 for 7 on third downs and then after the half it was like 1 for 6. WVU coaches must have done something right. They also moved the ball much better against us in the second half, and if not for some drive killing penalties the game could have easily gone the other way. WVU had a chance to win this game against a good up and coming CU team on the road. Is WVU the same team they were last year. NO. But this idea that ANYONE can tell how good of a coach Stewart is after 4 games(3 plus last year bowl) is ABSURD.

WVU is a good team and they have a good coach, and beating them in OT was a great win for this program to get to 3-0.

They sad thing is, had we lost in OT yesterday half this board will be talking about how bad our D was and how poor our Offense play calls were. Sports fans should be ashamed of themselves.

That is the head coaches job to make time out decisions, not the offensive coordinator. That is why they pay him the money to manage the clocks, manage the game, get the ball in his best players hands. That was the worst coached game I have ever seen.

Haven't watched alot of football games have you. I will just put you in the 90% catagory.

So it isnt the head coach's responsibility to make clock decisions? Yep, I know nothing about football I totally forgot the other 8 coaches are in charge of taking timeouts whenever they want. I think you are in the minority in thinking that Stewart coached that game well bud. Maybe we were watching a different game. But thats the beauty of America, everyone is entitled to there own opinion

the guy is obviously in WAY over his head. complete lack of discipline and when Erin Andrews describes your sideline as "mass confusion"....that's not a good thing.

reminded me of John Blake's Sooner teams. talent, but beat themselves with dumb mistakes and ill-timed personal fouls.

No one said it was good clock management at the end of the game. No one said he doesn't have to fix somethings. But when people start making statements like

"the worst coached game I have ever seen"

Then it only confirms just how many IDOTS have opinions.

Wow, I was at the game. I haven't heard the mass confusion comment yet.

I poked around the wemustignitethiscouch site. In the worst coach ever thread, one guy said something to the effect, as much as I hate him Rodriguez would have been ****ing cheerleaders with a 35 point win. Wow.

hahaha...so true. Don't know what you got til its gone, eh

While I may not neccessarily agree with everything Chilly says there, I agree with his point that there doesn´t seem to be a middle ground for many people anymore. You´re either **** or the greatest ever. Nothing in between ... and that simply isn´t true.

I agree with this statement! There are a lot of good coaches out there that arent necessarily great all the time. No one is great all the time and it is unfair to expect that. At the same time, it is easy to identify bad coaches when you see one.

Ummm, doesn't anyone remember our clock management against EWU? Yeah, it happens. There is no reason for poor clock management at this level, imo.

Stewart said he had his reasons for not taking timeouts. The only problem is that his reasons include a lack of faith in his offense and defense (not getting the first would put the Buffs at midfield with 2 TOs left). To me, a head coach that doesn't believe in the team is only going to have problems. I know Hawk would have tried to go for the win.
