Celestine leaves program

What was once a promising WR class from 2007 only has one contributing member now in J. Smith

Yeah. We definitely need some WR this recruiting class. BAAAD. PWill is gunna be gone next year and I, for one, am not too confident about Simas ever getting eligible.

What happens if J-Fly or Scotty get hurt?

This may explain why he wasn't involved in the WVA game.

Jeez, this sucks. We need to get Simas back and eligible and get some more bodies at WR this next recruiting cycle. What was considered a strength is now perilously thin. :censored:

I have been saying all along we need 3-4 WRs in this class. This only confirms that.

Look on the bright side... we have an extra schollie!! :sad1:

Too bad... The guy just isn't seeing the field. He's really far from home, I'm sure there are a lot of factors going into the decision.

Best of luck, Kendrick. Hope you find a place where it works out for you and where you can showcase your talents.

Depressing. Can you believe it's been 5 years since McCoy and Hackett? Those guys were the real deal. Until J-Fly CU's been fielding guys with WR next to their names but no chops. I don't like making negative comments about the program but WR is a glaring problem and has been for years now. All due respect to Patrick Williams (who looks the part for sure) but he has never produced. I'm a little hazy on this but was he the one who broke both his hands as a freshman or was that the artist formerly known as Jarrell Yates? Hopefully Hawk can get some WR's interested in the program.

:lol:No PW broke both hands, doing what, I have no clue. It amazes me CU has had so much trouble bringing in WR talent. CU has put some pretty good WR's in the NFL and the blue chippers could come in and compete right away.

Charles Johnson class of 93' and Hackett 03' are the only two (that I can recall) that have or have had sustained competence in 'the league'. Westbrook had every possible tool and skill at his disposal yet is more famous for beating Stephen Davis's face in than for his receiving talent. And then there's mr. class of 96' who shall remain nameless for throwing his life and career away in a moment of insanity. I don't know but it seems like CU hasn't had a great deal of success with the WR position. With the evolution of college football into a pass first mentality it seems like Hawk ought to invest a lot of time into upgrading the WR's. J-fly is a great building block and McKnight is serviceable if not flashy.

Guys, I can assure you that Hawk has made WR a very big priority in this class. Besides DL, WR is the other area where we have extended a ton of offers. He knows the position needs to be upgraded.

As far as true freshmen playing next year, who knows, but don't forget about Blackmon redshirting right now.

Why oh why does everybody always forget about Mike Pritchard?

Yep, drafted in the first round by Atlanta and finished his career in Denver. I think he retired a year or two too early before the donkeys won the super bowl if I'm not mistaken.
Would have been cool to see both him and Alfred get championship rings with both the buffs and broncos.

Good point, and I had forgotten. Perhaps Celestine felt that he'd be better off taking a year off now, seeing the writing on the wall for the next 2-3 years here. I still hope like hell that Simas can get his act together and rejoin the team next year. We'll need him.
