I would usually file this under the category of "shocking", however, I have a small, personal aside to the story.
I have the misfortune of traveling to NE for work frequently. Last year I was at the airport bar having a beer and struck up a conversation with another patron. Turns out it was Thunder Collins and we talked CU/kNu, games he played in, etc. He talked about how he was trying to make an Arena team or CFL, don't recall. Overall, he was a pretty nice guy. When our plane was called and the bill was handed out, he said, "don't worry, I got it." He pulled our a wad of cash at least 3 inches thick. My immediate thoughts were, "he's definitely into something b/c marginal Arena players don't have that kinda coin." Didn't bother to inquire past that.
Pretty standard kid from a real tough background that was a great football player and when football didn't work out, he couldn't escape his background. Unfortunately, it probabaly happens more than it should.

Holy ****, I've been hearing bad news about him from time to time for the past few years, but murder?? Wow, I didn't see that one coming.

Yeah, this was definately a WTF moment!? It's too damn bad guys like this have to throw their lives away because of stupid crap.

Well just relating it to Butters story makes it seem obvious if true it is drugs. Yes It is a leap but when guns and deaths come into . Then thereis not much of stretch to assume so.

this story has a very odd twist..... it was reported/rumored originally that he was the one who got shot. a local news crew went to find him and interviewed him to prove he was still breathing and during the course of that interview he stated that he heard all kinds of crazy stuff. he was shot, he was dead, and then he paused and said "I even heard that I was the one who did the shooting" then he admitted he was in the neighborhood around that time "but knew nothing about the shooting".... basically he led the cops right to him.

He's a sad story, troubled youth from a gang past, came to NE to get away from the gangs back home, his father and brother were killed in gang fights. he stayed in Nebraska because "it was safer than going back home".... he obviously could not break past habits. he ended up living/hanging in the worst 2 square miles in a two state area.

Just the latest example of an Osborne shielded kid that has gone on to a great career (of crime). Maybe he will share a cell with Phillips.:sad2:

Good god man.............he quit the team and wasn't shielded. He was suspended for an unknown NCAA violation and after that walked from my understanding. None of his actions are excusible, but immediately blaming NU in some way is kinda foolish don't ya think? He made the decisions he made because he is obviously a moron, nothing more than that.

TO was in DC when this kid came aboard. Solich was trying to hold up the honor of LP.

You are right it wasn’t TO that saved Collins bacon. Here is a link where Stolich "kid gloved" Collins when charged with assault. Just like TO shield Phillips. Assaulting women were big with these two. To NU’s credit Bo has let some players be punished for off field problems, but that was not the norm under TO. :duel2:

Have to agree what is a team supposed to do? Hold there hand forever? Baby sit them there entire life to hold the university's reputation for ever. Stop point a finger and be honest end of the day we are all accountable for our decisions.
