For all you haters, SHUT THE **** UP!! We arent world beaters yet. Yeah Cody had his problems, yeah our offensive line is thin, yeah stewart is the ****ing man. Just shut the **** up! God a lot of you sound like six year old girls. This is a lot better than 2 years ago...

"2 years ago" ? Hey, whipper snapper, I was heare 30 years ago!

I'm excited we are 3-1, but what worries me about the rest of the year is Cody's play and our O-line looking paper thin now. I am opptimistic for the future, but I am not as confident for this year as I was before based on injuries. I still think we have a good chance at going 7 or 8 wins.

ithink that if DS got the ball the majority of the time, and he got a rhythem, he would tear up some assholes.

yeah. But you have to go with the hot hand. I think DS might not be 100% from his knee injury. I'm not positive about that.

This is a lot better than 2 years ago...

AMEN. My freshman year was Barnett's last. I saw things go down the toilet in late 2005, watched 70-3 happen, and sat through 5 of our 10 losses in 2006. Last year was better and I think this year is better still. We aren't national contenders yet or even Big 12 contenders yet but we're getting the pieces in place. We have some of them now but it will take a little while to get the rest of them in place. I know we'll get there eventually and I'm not going to let losses like this bother me too much because I remember when things were a hell of a lot worse. You can't rebuild a program as trashed as ours was in just a couple years. I'll just be patient and keep looking forward to the day when we make it to a BCS bowl (hopefully sooner rather than later).

I think I might as well say it. I worry that if Speedy emerges as an 'every down' kind of back that DS won't stay with the program. Losing him after the epic struggle to get him would be a blow to the program's prestige. I know that the star rating system is 90% bullsh*t but still... even the elite programs don't get a lot of 5 star players and I don't think CU can afford to use him as just a change of pace for Speedy. It's like drafting a first round RB, signing him to a huge contract and then sitting him in favor of an undrafted free agent. That might make a nice 'rudy' story but I don't think it would bode well for your program or franchise.

How about it tells kids that "it doesn't matter how you are rated, if you can play, you will play?"

Stewart has been better since camp begain. He deserves it. And, yeah, I feel the same as you. I'm concerned about it. But the coach has to put his best guy in there. The players know who's best. What kind of message do you send to them if you put in the hyped guy?

During Darrell's recruitment, Hawk told him that he wouldn't be seeing 30+ carries a game. Hawk told him that most backs get so banged up during these season's and it cuts down their pro careers. Hawk has sold Darrell on that idea because i heard him talk about it during interviews last year.

Even I of all people, who can be one of the most irrational Buff fans after losses is amazed by the negativity on the board today..

Guilty. I hate losing. SO SHOOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M STILL PISSED!

The program is getting better but its still in the growing stage.. We were lucky to even beat Eastern Washington, so you and the others can't be surprised we lost to FSU.

I'll stick to my preseason prediction that if Hawk gets to 7-5 this year it will be a successful season.

I'm pissed. Pissed I tell ya! Losing to Bobby effing Bowden is UNACCEPTABLE! I HATE THAT OLD FART!

I'm having a hard time seeing the path to 7-5. I'll be thrilled if they can pull it off but I just don't see it. Sure the Buffs are improved but so is everyone in the BigXII. There was a time when you could look at the Buffs schedule and spot 4-5 games that fell into the 'should win' category. Now? Not so much. This team could be legitimately much better than last year and still post a losing record. I have to admit it, losing to a mediocre FSU team doesn't inspire a lot of confidence for the upcoming conference slate. This team has so many issues I don't know where to begin. It looks like the only gamebreakers on offense are Speedy and J-fly. Teams will quickly key on them and what will be left? 3 yard in routes and slow developing draw plays to Sumler? I don't know if Darrell Scott is in the coach's dog house or if he just hasn't 'earned it' but he's not getting enough touches a game to make a difference. As for QB, I've been a solid Cody supporter but I'm wavering. He's been a turnover machine so far. You could set your clock to his weekly interception(s). I think he needs some competition to drive him. I'm not going to join in the accusations of nepotism but it IS a legitimate question. I'm a father myself, I don't know how I would feel about giving my son the hook in this situation. I guess that's why Hawk gets paid the big bucks to coach and I get paid the small bucks to be a keyboard commando.

Wow,seeing you display your emotions is quite impressive. You sound like a drunk 6 yr old girl.People are letting off steam. You want all praise all mighty when cu wins but are too sensitive to deal with people after a loss.

Take both with stride.3-1 heading into conference play is pretty good in my book. The injuries to the OL are a big concern along with special teams.

I thought cu moved the ball well, just needed to hit those open throws but,you either make plays or you don't.

Time to regroup and get ready for big 12 play,I saw some good things out there today.

That's fine but 5 carries per game is a joke.Give speedy his touches but scott will NEVER live up to the hype if he's getting 1 carry per quarter. I mean c'mon, get real. How about 2-3 runs in a row GASP:wow:

If he isn't 100%,then why not redshirt him,5 carries a game is a waste of a year for him otherwise.

I'm having a hard time seeing the path to 7-5.

The Rest of the Season (as I see it):

Texass: a tough but winnable game (maybe)
Sasnak: maybe...
KjSU: In Boulder I think this is a definite win
Mizzou: I don't think we have much of a shot at this one
aTm: We should win this one
ISU: As long as our favorite fusker ref is not involved, this is a W
OSU: This will be close but I think we can sweep our slate of aggies this year
kNU: After watching them today against the Hokies, I think we can win this one

I think we win KSU, aTm, ISU, and kNU with all others being winnable except Mizzou. That equation would put us at anywhere from 7-5 to better. Maybe it's kool-aid but I still think 7-5 is doable.

WTF?

For the record, i think a nine win season is definately doable.

Having dumbass threads where buff fans are in denial and are content with the state of the Cu Buffs, is embarrassing. Having the fans rush the football field is probably one of the main reasons for this weekends letdown. Colorado underperformed against WV, and weakness that WV had was pass defense, and we couldn't exploit it. We couldn't pass worth shiite against EWU, and we played to the level of CSU. We are in deep **** my friends. Our special teams and Cody Hawkins are underacheiving. We can sit around and be patient, but alot of you folks forget we're not going to get better on D next year when we lose 2 starting DL's and Walters.

If we come out with a 6 win season, then expect the dream season to come in about 4-5 more years rather than next year or the year after. We are in dire of need of good DL recruits and DBs, this season is the most important season in recruiting thus far. If we wan't to make a splash in 09 we need to match 08's recruiting class's results.

But if you're like Coach Hawkins, and not like these sorry sunshine pumpers on this board and apologist, you do believe that this team is actually close to hitting it in high gear.

Coach Hawkins has high expectations from this team and sees the vast potential. Why can't the resident cheerleaders expect the same.

This loss didn't happen because of Cody's talent, or lack of. Nor did it happen because of any lack of talent on either side of the ball.

This loss is to be blamed for the horrible WV game we had no buisiness of winning, and having the fans run down the team congratulating them when this CU buff team clearly underachieved and was saved by the WV coach's game plan towards the end.

the buffs didn't do anything special. they got lucky. SUre you have the right to celebrate. But celebrate like you actually have had a NC before.

Expect great things from CU!

Buff fans are guilty for rewarding subpar and substandard play to the CU football team. Cody should have not been celebrating, nor should have the WR corp nor the DL in that game should have been celebrating out in the feild.

There is so much work to do. And if you think beating an underserving ranked team on Tv is worthy of a feild rush, when you know for a fact that this team has underachieved against lesser talent in EWU.. Then expect a big let down the week after.

So to summarize.

The loss happened becuase lack of execution, not lack of talent.

Be pissed. and vigilante CU football. You have a task ahead of you.

how clever. cu lost the fsu game because students rushed the field last week.

IMHO, the program is still rebuilding and I think that a lot of the people who are in the "sky is falling" mode started the season unable to accept that or came around to that way of thinking through the first three games. While a program is building (or rebuilding), there are stepping stones and stumbling blocks. WVU last week on national TV with a lot of attention was a stepping stone (BTW, I wouldn't be surprised to see the 'eers end up back in the Top 25 before the season's over). Yesterday's loss is a obviously a stumbling block. It's times like these that I go back to when Hawk first took over, and what he said:

"In any rebuilding process, there are four steps: first you lose big, then you lose close, then you win close and finally you win big"

We're in the lose/win close phase right now, and as bad as the end of game score looks from yesterday, if as few as 2 plays had gone CU's way yesterday, we'd be looking at either a win or a hell of a close loss. Everybody talks about Hawk's overthrow of a wide open Devenny, but no one that I've seen (yet) has mentioned the key drops that JFly had. These mistakes will be fixed with time, and that's the reason that you rarely if ever see successful programs start as many underclassmen as ours. The takeaway from yesterday's game is this: Did you ever once throughout the game feel like CU was outclassed by the quality of their opponent? I sure as hell didn't. I can't say the same thing about the last two times we squared off against FSU, when it was a matter of waiting for FSU to take the lead and pull away. We had a day where everything went wrong for the Buffs, and they still kept it pretty respectable for 3 quarters.

Lastly, we don't know how good the FSU team really is. Yes, they are 3-1 and lost to Wake Forest pretty badly last week, but they got back 4 defensive starters, a key TE and a heck of a lot of depth back for the game this week. I won't delve into my thoughts on that (I know that if I had been caught cheating in any class, I would have been lucky to get off with a semester's suspension at CU), but the fact is that they may be better than what they've showed.

Take heart, we're a hell of a lot closer today than we were even at the start of the season (for what it's worth, I agree that this year is the most important of Hawk's tenure as far as recruiting).

i'd wish you'd actually read the whole post than terribly dissect and misrepresent one point. I didn't say any certain issue was the sole cause of the problem.

RIF.

maybe you can improve its content so as to entice people to read it. when it resembles a word vomit of negativity, chances are people are GOING to write you off. we are not a captive audience.

Im not in denial you ****tard. I said Cody played like ****, I said our Oline is struggling. I was responding to the simple fact I heard people were trashing the players personally. Go suck on an egg.
