If he's healthy I can see two schools of thought

1. UT will be out to make a statement (sour grapes) because he didn't commit to them and beat him up at every opportunity

2. Scott should have an opportunity to make them pay for the nasty insinuations and rumors that UT fans circulated and show the world he is the real deal

As LB said - as long a he is healthy, I say let him get the experience and try to get a rhythm established

If he's healthy he needs to get in and get a few carries. From there, let's see how he does. If he's chewing them up, keep feeding him the ball if he's missing pass protection responsibilities only put him in on simple plays where the read is easy. Either way Speedy should get a bunch of carries too, the change of pace he provides complements DS's power nicely. We're better with both, IMHO.

If Texas is really going after him, then we have the run established before we even play a snap, and can get some plays over the top (assuming Cody doesn't throw the ball end over end ten yards over the receiver's head).

I can't imagine, though, that Texas players would have anything against DS enough to want to play any dirtier than they usually do. Recruiting "anger" is really all about the alums like us reading these boards.

there was quote in an interview with Smith about DScotts injury that scared the **** out of me. Most of the people who have spoken about it say that it is not serious and should heal, but frankly, Scott has not been teh same since the EWU game (when he was injured) and the injury ("bruise") is very vague. The quote in question was from Jfly...

Basically, Jfly was talking about helping his nephew through the injury and referred to it as "pretty serious" or something along those lines. I have a suspicion that Scott is hurt pretty badly in some way (perhaps a partial tear of an ACL, etc?) that doesn't require surgery so much as time. I reallllly hope Hawk isn't burning a season for no good reason other then to prevent a transfer!

I would hope that if that were true, and rest was the only remidy.. that the coaching staff would be smart enough not to put in him practice and games, and risk a full tear... So I just don't think that it's the case.

Junking the spread won't solve anything. We lined up in the I and still couldn't move the ball on FSU.

Once again from Woody:

Stewart rushed again for 100-plus yards, but Scott got only five carries (20 yards), Demetrius Sumler four (23) and Kevin Moyd one (5). They averaged 5.0 yards a play. The passing game averaged 4.3 yards per attempt. Which was more successful?

Just make sure Speedy gets the bulk of the carries. He's easily the #1 back right now.

Scott still needs an offseason or two to bulk up some more, but should get a few carries every game if healthy or until he shows up Speedy. Speedy will kill Texas as they overpursue him.

First of all Woody is a douchebag. He always will be. SO i really don't listen to a word he says. I also think most of Stewarts yards came on his ability to make something, out of nothing. He really earned every one of those yards.

We also don't know why Scott is being limited. So I'll wait to learn why instead of speculating about a possible injury- deep knee bruise. I don't think Hawk has said anything yet.

When the line doesn't block well, nothing works. So we can switch to the I, and still won't be able to run the ball.

Agreed on all your points. I'd just add that in addition to the line not blocking well the Buffs have no credible threat to stretch the field other than J-Fly and evidently even when the receivers get open it's a crapshoot whether CH will get them the ball. I'm pretty discouraged at the moment about this though probably not as much as fusker fans who saw their house of cards collapse on itself. They were really making noises about being back in the national picture. Allow me to say: Ha and Ha.

where was McKnight yesterday? The only play i saw him was the screen pass to him. For zero yards.

I'm not sure what was up with that. Another question is: what the eff is the deal with Patrick Williams? He has all the tools to be a solid receiver but his typical stat line is 1 catch for 4 yards (though I think he broke out yesterday with 2 catches for 16 yards). I really think he never recovered from his broken hands. Maybe he should be a corner or a safety.

I think we stick with R.S. for now. He is doing great right now. Give Scott some touches up the middle when we need size.

i know he was thorwn to at least twice. both of those went incomplete with PI calls on the FSU player who was covering him.

I don't think there's any question that Stewart is the best back we have, certainly when you consider the counters that Hawkins seems to like to run. I'm sure Scott has a bright future, but I feel a lot more confident with Speedy in the backfield. I could care less how many touches Scott gets, just play the guy who can net the most yards..

I am waiting for Speedy to break that huge run (50+) yds. He came close a couple of times on Saturday.

I kept saying that at the game and was dissappointed when he got in the open field and was taken down by a safety 1 on 1 in space multiple times...I really don't understand the anti run game sentiment because there were some of the biggest holes of the season in the FSU game and instead of making those safety's or others miss we were taken down....i did think to myself more than once that despite how well Speedy was making things happen when the huge hole up the middle was there (and it was there multiple times people...i saw it with my own eyes) D-Scott would have turned many of those plays into longer gaines....i almost guarantee it....as much as I think Woody Paige is a D-Bag I think he was pretty much on cue in his article posted earlier
