That I'd be thrilled to go 2-2 against WVA, FSU, UT and KU. Well, beat KU and that's exactly where we'll be. I, for one, think this is the easiest of the opponents we've played the last three weeks. We ought to beat the chickenhawks. Seriously, we should. I'm concerned about injuries, but on the positive side, the guys who filled in for injured players just got a nice lesson in how to play with the big boys. Kansas is NOT as good as Texas. Kansas is NOT as good as Florida State. Kansas is NOT as good as West Virgina.

Unless I missed something, every single team we've played so far has a winning record. Yes, even CSU. We've played a tough schedule and we are still 3-2.

Chins up, Buff fans. While it's clear that we're not where we want to be, we're also way ahead of where we were two years ago. 8-4 is not an unrealistic goal for this team, given how the rest of the season is shaping up.

We're playing them in Lawrence, though, the site of many many games where the Buffs play horrendously.

That is exactly my sentiment and why I don't understand a lot of everyone's frustrations...because from what I heard from everyone at the beginning of the season we would be lucky to go 2-2 during this stretch and many picked us to go 1-3...I think everyone got a little to reved up after starting 3-0 that expectations somehow changed, even with the injury bug that has struck the team

Kinda like the Broncos at Arrowhead.

:iagree:

I still think 6 or 7 wins right now. Was dissapointed with Saturday's game, but realistically we're just not there yet. The rest of the games except for Mizzou are where we'll find out what kind of team we really have.

Agreed.. I think everyone (including me) is upset that we were really just blown out by Texas.. I didn't think we would win, but to not even compete against them at home was disheartening.

I think the Kansas game is winnable.. Should be interesting game..

Right when the OU Texas game is going on too. OU should roll'em

Yea that sucks that this game is at the same time as ours. Then at night both the LSU-Florida and OSU-Mizzery games are at the same time. Yet at 3:30 EST there aren't really any good games to watch. :sad2:

How is 8-4 a realistic prediction for this team?

CU will be 2+ TD touchdown dogs vs. Kansas, Missouri, and OSU. Look at Kansas, the weakest of these three teams - they are favored by 2 TD's.

What about this team, objectively, makes you think we are likely to win these type of games? Missouri and OSU are games we are very, very, very unlikely to win, particularly Missouri. OSU looks really good this year as well.

What have you seen from CU this year that makes you think we are going to be beating football teams that are more talented than us, more athletic than us, and more explosive offensively than us?

I'm not trying to be overly negative but I'm really curious to see why those of you predicting the Buffs to only lose two more games think that will happen.

Look at the remainder of the schedule. There is exactly ONE game that I expect CU to win handily, two at most. Outside of ISU, who we struggle with and routinely lose to, and A&M, who we play on the road in a huge stadium in Texas, who are you so confident in CU beating? KSU? Better learn to score because Josh Freeman & co. WILL put up a lot of points. Nebraska? Same, also in Lincoln which has to tilt the scales at least somewhat in their favor.

Hopefully the Buffs prove me wrong but I will personally be very happy with a 6-6 season. I had higher expectations at the start of the season but the injuries on o-line, Cody's inability to play well and the general inability of the offense to score touchdowns really concerns me.

If this team has another losing season, IE 6-6 and a loss in a bowl game, it will be very disappointing to a lot of CU fans.

Realistically I see us having a decent chance in every other game except for Mizzou, Okie St might be tough to win too, but all the other are VERY winnable and I would be shocked if we don't win at least 7 games this year.

OSU hasn't proven anything yet. Let's see how they do against a real team with a real defense. I mean c'mon, they just beat A&M, which is possibly the worst team in the league. (Didn't think I'd see the day I'd say that).

KU is, IMO, beatable. They have issues just like we do.

Not only that, but OSU has played exactly one road game-Washington State, which just might be the worst BCS conference team in the entire country.

The only no-hoper left on the schedule is Mizzou. Every other game is in play.

what will you be saying 3 weeks from now, if the Buffs are 3-5?

I'd be dissapointed, but the remaining 4 games we could win out and still get to 7 wins. I really don't think we'll lose to KSU a 3rd year in a row, that is not a very good team, so I don't think we'll lose the next 3. Oh I also think we'll beat KU.

I think 7 wins is likely, with 8 as a ceiling and 6 as a floor. My opinion is the same it was in July. As young as our O line is, they will get better with practice together. Grimes is a solid coach and should get them whipped into shape. Affter FSU and UT, everyone else will seem slow/weak.

On the other hand, youth is youth. We can play with (almost) everybody, but we can also lose to just about everybody. We have 7 games left. Simply winning 3 games gets us to .500 for the season. I think 4 is totally possible if the injury bug stops biting.

That pretty much sums up my feeling. I am just amazed at all the people saying we are such a dog **** team after we are 3-2 and our two losses are to two great teams. How are we really as bad as some are saying? HOW???

I didn't walk out of Folsom down at all Saturday. I am still very optimistic about the direction of the program.

At the beginning of the season, everyone wants CU to go undefeated but most are realistic. I would guess that many of us would've thought (and possibly hoped) that we'd get out of our non-conf schedule 3-1, which we did. And I think almost everyone had an L for UT (even tho' we wanted to crush them for the Scott crap in February). We still have a chance to win some ballgames, get to a decent bowl game and make some noise in the recruiting game. It was just the first conference game & we played the fricking #5 team in the country!

I am not happy about how we looked the last two weeks and found myself thinking we would have been in both of the games had we not shot ourselves in the foot so many times, but for thinking that we will only win another 1 or 2 games on our schedule? :wow: I'm a loooong ways from that line of thinking.

Except for Missery, every team left on our schedule is a lesser opponent than the 3 we just played against.

My point exactly. I'm not convinced Missery is better than UT, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt - they're very good. That is going to be a great football game. I can't wait for that one.

I agree that missouri is the only non-winnable game on the schedule. And as pissed off as I am about the play calling on saturday and the mistakes, if you had told me that we would lose so many players to season ending injuries, especially on the line, and that we would be 3-2 and that we would be within 30 points of Texas I would have laughed. The direction of the program hasn't changed. We are still on the right track.

I think we're oversimplifying it. We thought we would be thrilled to go 3-1 OOC during the preseason when we thought WVA was a top #10, EWU would be an easy win, and Fl St would be tough but beatable.

WVA is not a ranked team, barely won vs EWU (who lost to Portland St last week), and lost to fsu after they gave us all those chances. So we should be 4-1 if our offense would've improved from last year. It hasnt improved and some might argue it might be worse based on points scored.

We're frustated because the team isnt playing well and hasnt played that well, at least offense and special teams, for the last 4 games.

There are no easy solutions, but our numbers are paltry against 4 mediocre and one very good team. The Buffs should be playing much better than they have been. There are many reasons I know, OLine, injuries, special teams, etc. But also QB play, coaching, and offensive scheme.

Need some major improvement in all those areas.
