This sucks.

I'm reading articles and Cody's making statements and I don't know how to take them.

We need to sort this **** out.

I agree. I don't like QB controversy and it has a chance of getting really ugly next week with another bad performance by Cody. More of the same stuff we are hearing just amplified. I am one for giving Ballenger a couple series if needed but would love to see Cody come out and go 20 - 30, 280 a couple TDs and NO INTS.

We need a "W".... I personally don't care who is QB, RB, or Waterboy. Whomever fills these rolls is expected to be better than their backup, and come out with a win hopefully. A little competition can raise the level of play in my opinion......we'll see.

Well, we got a a QB controversy. CHawk did horrible, killed us on two drives, 38% passing, 1 TD and 2 INTs. Many three and outs, many complete passes to the grass. Bally was under pressure, but made some good throws. Needs more experience.

I dunno. I kinda think Ballenger looked like **** too.

Ballenger needs to start. You can't judge him off of 2 series. Although, he threw for nearly as many yards, in one half of one quarter, as cody did in a whole game.

Writing is on the wall: CU is not a good football team with Cody Hawkins playing QB. I don't understand how anyone could watch the games and think otherwise.

I don't see how anyone could watch Ballenger's play during mop up time today and conclude that he IS the answer.

Exactly!!! Ballenger will progress and develop into a much better Qb than Cody. He nearly matches Cody's stats in just 2 series. Can run better too. Cant compare them just the same when he's played 10 min vs 18 Freaking games!!

In the limited playing time he has gotten this year, he has outplayed Cody. He also has the physical tools that it is, at very least, possible for him to be at least an average QB. CH does not have the skills to be a good QB in d1 football. He is too slow, too small, and has too weak of an arm to be productive. I don't really understand how anyone could think otherwise... just watch him play. He does not have the talent to get it done, and has made it EXTREMELY clear with his performances this year. There is no upside. There is no getting better. CU can not compete with even good teams with him at the helm. OU was a fluke.

He may, or may not be the answer. We need to see him play to know for sure. Like Cody. We know for sure he is not the answer. He will not win the B12 for CU. he cannot command enough of the field to strech a defense, so B12 defenses can put extra players in the areas he works in. Which limits him even more. They may not have done that effectivly last year, but the book has been written on Cody. To stay with him is to give CU a 6-8 win season the next two years until he graduates.

I am not saying that Bally will even beat out Hansen. But the depletion of our Oline means we need a tall QB who can run and can strech the field. Cody can't do that; it is not in his skillset. he needs a preductive run game and good blocking line. he looks like **** because that line is hurt and playing poorly. So play the guy who best gives you a chance to succeed with what you got. I just feel that is Ballenger. I still think CU wins this with Bally playing the whole second half. But it is only an opinion.

I dunno man. I know it was a bit late, but when Bally was put in the game today I was thinking, "all right, lets see what you can do. Prove that you should start next week." I just didn't really see much that said "here i am, the new starter." You know?

I still say they start Cody, but pull him quick if the same backpedaling **** is happening.

It certainly complicates things that he is the coaches son. I wish we didn't have that complication.

I still say they start Cody.

Why?

Lets suppose Ballenger isn't the answer. Let's suppose that there is NO answer on this years team. Are you really suggesting that we should just tighten our belts and let Cody and company play out the string the way they are? Yeah, scoring 14 points a game (if they're lucky) and looking embarrassingly awful is going to help the program in the long run. Stay the course.
