Well it's hard to believe, but another CU football season is already halfway over. The time always seems to drag in the offseason, and when football season starts, it seems to just fly by. NOT FAIR!

Anyway, lets take a look at the buffs halfway through the season. And you can vite on how the buffs will do the second half of the season. The second half at least looks a little better as far as the schedule goes, but no game is a gimmie. They will all be tough to win. Don't like excuses, but injuries to key players, particularly on the O-line have hurt this team big time, it would be idiotic to say otherwise.

CSU W 38-17. The buffs finally got out and for the most part took care of in-state rival CSU like they should. The D did a good job at shutting down CSU as CSU's only points other than a kickoff return TD were gifts from CU off turnovers. CU appeared bigger, faster and more physical than CSU and the better team won this game.

E. Washington W 31-24. In a game that was supposed to be a "warm up" for the buffs meaty part of the schedule, the eagles were in no mood to fool around. They came to play the buffs and almost escaped Folsom with a W. The Buffs trailed for most of the game and had to have the defense win it for them.

West Virginia W 17-14 OT. WVU was supposed to be much better than they have been this year, but they are still a talented team. The buffs came out firing from the start and took a 14-0 lead, but then shutdown the rest of the game. They let Pat White tie it up and had to win in OT to win.

@ Florida St L 21-39. The buffs looked like they were gonna make it a game, but kept shooting themselves in the foot. CU had chances including two dropped for sure TD's where WR's were wide open. FSU also blew it open in 2 minutes before the half, when it would have been a very close game at the break.

Texas L 14-38. Texas dominated the buffs in everyway. It wasn't a game and Texas came close to ending CU's scoring streak. Texas is one of the best in the land. CU again missed some opportunities, but it wouldn't have mattered in this game. UT owned the buffs.

@ Kansas L 14-30. Buffs hit first, KU got a safety on a questionable thing to do by Cody. Went back and forth for 3 qtrs and was a pretty even game. Defense appeared to wear out in the 4th and KU's trio of Reesing, Sharp and the "gimp" Meier beat the buffs.

so we are 3-3 halfway through. We have to win half our remaining games to become bowl eligible. Can we do it?

Remaining schedule
KSU. Could go either way. Buffs must score some points
@ Mizzou. No game is a gimme either way W or L, but Mizzou will be extrememly hard.
@ A&M. Could go either way, but A&M is baaaad.
Iowa St. Home team has won last 5, does that trend continue?
Okie St. See Mizzou
@ NU. If you are a true buff or husker, you know that records don't mean **** in this game. Actually it could be like last year. Winner goes bowling, loser stays home.

If we beat KSU, we finish 6-6 (maybe 7-5 with a win over NU to finish the season). If we don't beat KSU, we finish 4-8. If we lose to KSU, any confidence this team has left will be gone and you can pretty much write off the rest of the season. However, a win against KSU could really give this team new life, especially if we finally get some success on offense (which is probably essential to beating KSU at this point).

Missouri and Okie Lite will be big losses, KSU looks like it will be tough to win, NU on the road is always tough, and ISU/A&M are both winnable.

Buffs and skers game could be like last year, winner to a bowl and loser goes home for holidays. They could get revenge on us from last year and in 2004.

Offensive MVP for first half: Rodney Stewart
Defensive MVP for first half: Shawn Mohler/Cha'pelle Brown
Special teams MVP: Josh Smith

Most improved player: Patrick Williams, seems to catch almost everything when he gets ball thrown to him.

Schedule:

Kansas State - Some CU fans don't understand just how good Josh Freeman is. Their defense is really bad but we will not be able to keep up with their offense. Freeman accounts for 4 or 5 TD's, I think. Earlier in the year I would have called this a tossup but after seeing the uninspired play by the Offense, we don't have much of a prayer here barring a complete meltdown by KSU's offensive unit. L

Missouri - Ouch. Maclin torched us last year even with a 2nd round NFL draft pick covering him at corner. We don't have a d-back of that caliber this year. Big loss. L

A&M - ATM is a bad football team. We're on the road, though - where we haven't performed well at all in recent years. W

ISU - This is a game we should win, but ISU always gives us trouble. Game in Folsom = close win. W

OSU - Nope. Blowout loss. We can't score with them. Their QB is one of the very best in the nation and very underrated. L

Nebraska - Who knows. Neither team has looked good this year. Toss up.

Ultimately, I don't really see a single game on the schedule that I am confident CU will win unless there is a drastic turnaround for the Offense which, frankly, I don't anticipate because there isn't a reason to. We will see a lot of games that are close through 2 or 3 quarters that CU loses because the defense will wear down after spending a lot of time on the field, every game. A&M and ISU are games we should win or at least be in a position to win, but A&M is on the road and probably a bit more talented than CU. ISU has beaten better CU teams than this one in recent years (2005, 2007). KSU, OSU, and Missouri are unwinnable games for this CU squad unfortunately. Nebraska - who knows?

6-0 :smile2:

It doesn't really matter who we put at QB. If the line doesn't block, it will be a long day for whoever lines up back there. I know Stewart has been making plays out of nothing, but he's been taking some shots. I hope he stays healthy for the rest of the season.

Geez, it looks like another wait till next year. The KSU game is going to be absolutely huge. A loss to them and we are headed down $hit Creek.

Kansas State - LOSS

Missouri - LOSS

A&M - WIN...I mean Miami beat em

ISU - WIN

OSU - WIN...UPSET!

Nebraska - WIN

KSU-win it's KSUcks.....................
Missery-Loss, but the loss to OSU shows they are vulnerable.
aTm-win they are just too bad this season.
ISU-win it's at your house and won't be as close this year.
OSU-loss OSU is just too good right now and are tough as hell.
NU-loss it may be a tossup, but you won't see me say win for CU here. :smile2:
3-3 which puts you 6-6...................

valdez gargles 8 oz of Hawk jizzles to energize his sunshine pumping throughout the day i said!!!

I honestly don't see us winning another game this year. We are THAT bad.

How are we THAT bad? Ya losing to the #1, 16 and almost a ranked team is really bad.
We are not great, but to say we wont win another games with games on the schedule like KSU, A&M, ISU, is pretty dumb.

Maybe the team unity meeting they had will help get them back on track. I suspect they will go 2-4 the rest of the way but god I'd be glad to see them get ksu, iowa st., atm and kNu. Who knows, if they could build up just a little momentum they might steal one from mizzou or okie state.

:stupid:

I see it much the same way. This week is critical to being bowl eligible. Lose and any shot at a bowl is likely gone.

Kjsu - could go either way
misery- L
A&M - W
ISU - W
OSU - could go either way
knu - could go either way

I voted we'll finish out 4-2, optimistically thinking we can go 2-1 in what I consider the swing games. I think we can pick off OSU in an upset, kind of like the TT win 2 years ago. Not that I'm comparing this team to our '06 team, but that's a game that nobody thought we'd win and we ended up blowing out a ranked team.

What is a team unity meeting?

It's where players hash out stuff, talk about what each position can do to get better and unite themselves and stay on course...

The coaches meanwhile are scratching their heads and trying to dial it in....

good. get the **** back on track assholes. Stop ruining my ****ing saturdays. I haven't had a good ****ing weekend since the WVU game and its ****ing time to have a good ****ing weekend before school ends my ****ing life til Dec 18

OSU isn't really a tossup unfortunately, in my opinion. They look like a legit top 10 team... I don't think we will be able to score with them.
