I think this is a article worth talking about. And there are a couple thigns I wanted to point out from it.

"It's just us and the coaches," senior center and team captain Daniel Sanders said. "So we've got to stick with ourselves, stay on the right path and ignore everything else outside of it."

The Buffs were one of the youngest teams in the nation to start the season and injuries have made them even more inexperienced on the offensive line. They have faced three of the top-28 defenses in the country in consecutive weeks and have played the third toughest schedule in the country to this point, according to the NCAA.

"If you would have told somebody that you were going to lose to Florida State, Texas and the Orange Bowl champions from a year ago, how many people would be unbelievably shocked by that?" quarterback Cody Hawkins said.

Team meeting

Based off these comments, it seems like the team dosn't really count the fans as "in" anymore. It seems like they think it's just them and the coaches, and the fans are pissed. I bet they're pissed too. But at least they are tryign to get better by having a team unity meeting. Don't be surprised if we beat KSU.

Yeah, no one is shocked that we lost to those three teams, but we should be shocked at HOW we lost to them. Florida State blew us out in the second half, Texas blew us out in the second half (not as shocking), and Kansas did the same. I would not be nearly as upset if we had at least played well.

Its ****ing time the ball bounced our way for ****ing once. We haven't had the breaks go our way in a long time.

We shot ourselves in the foot. The FSU and KU games were winnable. We were in the those games closer than the score appeared. I still say a big **** you to anyboy that is writing this season off. We are gonna beat KSU!

in terms of the "way" we lost and the second-half "blowouts", the only one that really bugged me was the ku 4th quarter. in the ut and fsu games, our defense just got worn down by being on the field too long and getting nothing from the offense to help. at the end of the 4th v. ku, i felt like the team had really let down on both sides of the ball. i don't want to see any quit. i know they are really young.

we will see how they do this week.

When you get vastly outplayed you lose. There are no breaks or balls bouncing your way unless you are losing one score games, which CU isn't doing this season.

Although I would count the pick 6 against EWU as a break. And WVU's offensive performance/performance in OT as a break.

FSU did not greatly outplay us. We have a QB that can complete to a wide open WR and he have the lead at halftime, and it would have been a much different game. That was the only real difference.

lawd. that was not the only real difference. yeah, our team could have been in that game and stole a win, but you act like fsu and CU are basically equivalent in terms of talent, experience, depth, etc. that isn't true. fsu is far superior to CU by almost every physical measure. CU might have stolen a win if the qb makes the plays he needs to make, but that was not the only difference in the teams.

it is ok, leash. we ain't dead yet. i agree with you about kjsu. i think CU is going to kill them.

I know, I think I need a break. I am steaming at the negativity. I'll see everybody at the tailgate, and GO BUFFS BEAT KSU!!! See ya next week.

No sh*t. How many fumbles did KU have that bounced right back into their hands. I counted 3. F-ing unbelievable. Also, what is with turnovers in the red zone. That pick/steal from Crawford at the goal line was a killer. We need lineman and more creativity in the play calling. :sad1:

good teams get the breaks. bad teams don't. hopefully, our Buffs will evolve into a team that gets the breaks.

in 06 (which was the worst Buff team i can remember since the early Mac years), our team NEVER got a break and ALWAYS shot itself in the foot. that is the sign of a bad team. this year's team can still rally.

To hell with breaks. What about turning the ball over when we are in the redzone. How about protecting the ball. Not fumbling, throwing int's, ect. We've created our own bad breaks.

yep. that is the point. the ball bounces the right way when you are doing things right. there is a reason CU got some of the miracle wins it got in the Mac years. "you achieve what you emphasize."

CU practiced well and executed well and good things happened.

How about putting the ball in the damn endzone when you are within 20 yards of it? When CU has the ball in the redzone I assume they aren't going to score. Know why? Because they usually don't.

That's a great way to lose football games and it has nothing to do with luck.

Well we are favored over KSU so we should expect to win.

So shooting ourselves in the foot gives you confidence for our upcoming games? I agree the season is not over, but we have not played well at too many points in this season. Time to do that.

"If you would have told somebody that you were going to lose to Florida State, Texas and the Orange Bowl champions from a year ago, how many people would be unbelievably shocked by that?" quarterback Cody Hawkins said.

Two things that disturb me about this:
1-two of those three were very winnable and bad QB play contributed greatly to not getting it done.
2-It sounds like Cody expected to lose those three games. "Unbelievably shocked?" As the starting QB for CU, he should have been shocked to lose all three of those games.

Starting QB making excuses for losing 3 games in a row?

Instead of whining about the schedule how about playing better? Particularly when his individual performance has been highly questionable.

Im not one to call players out, but his turnovers and miscues are ****ing killing momentum. I dont understand why we havent been able to get a good QB here in 10 years.

Halfway through year and number three, it's getting old hard to listen to "we just need to take care of the little things". It's time to start winning some ballgames. I admire the efforts of the players, but I also think it's fair to comment they just haven't looked very good. I just hope they beat the snot out of KSU.

:wow:...I am shocked that Cody could say something this ridiculous....I do NOT believe that we are below these teams and can't come into a game expecting or earning a victory...with that attitude we'll lose every game!

I agree, strange comments coming from the qb,leader of your team :wow:

His statement reeks of defeat before even playing the game,i guess the fans and players have the same mind set:huh:

C'mon guys...this is the way the psychological part of the sport is played. Before the game every team, even the team for the School of the Blind Quadriplegic Amputees, goes in believing "It'll be tough but we expect to win" and then after they lose it's, "The outcome wasn't totally unexpected but all we have to do is focus on the little things and we'll be alright..."

I don't for a second believed that Cody or the team expected to lose any of those games, in fact I'm pretty confident they expected to win. But now that we've lost, Cody and the team have to pick up the psychological pieces somehow and that's the way to do it. "We knew they were a good team and we lost but we're not that far off. All we have to do is..." They are trying preserve the moral of the team by promoting a positive outlook. It's a vision of the situation that is honest but instead of dwelling on the bad it focuses on the tasks that can be done to make things better.

Would you prefer he say, "We're Phucked!!! We suck donkey nutts and there's no hope! The season's over! Coming to CU was the biggest mistake I ever made because this school will never get it's shyt together and now my life is ruined!! Can I get a big handful of sleeping pills from the trainers!..."

SJ,
That's just ridiculous. No one expects him to say the drivel you spouted in your last paragraph. How about, "We had a chance to win at least two of those games and fully expected to, but we (I) didn't play well. I made a dumb ass play by running 15 yards backwards into our own end zone, have missed wide open receivers for touchdowns and have not made the plays needed to win. They need to stop the pussyfooting around the subject and get their **** together. Psychological part of the sport my ass. THIS IS THE BIG XII, BROTHER!

This really bothers me. It's one thing, from a fan perspective to be saying this, but it's almost like he's saying "Well, we lost to good teams, so that makes it OK" You might believe that as a player, but it's just not something you say.

The one statement that really bothered me from after the KU game was when Darrell Scott said we are just gonna try to win three more games and get to a bowl game. I love Dan Hawkins but the ho hum attitude towards losing needs to stop soon.

So what the hell are you bitchin' about? Isn't what you wrote essentially what Cody, big Hawk and the rest of the team has said in the post game interviews?

The quotes UL posted are from a team meeting. Are you unhappy with what the team is saying to each other in a team meeting? Frankly, since none of us are on the team, it's none of our F'ing business.

i thought that was a very weak comment by Cody! it does sound like he expected to lose, and he is QB1:huh:

I'm bitching about the fact the Cody makes it sound like it was OK to lose the last three games because no one would be shocked by it. Bullsh!t. Are expectations that low at CU (and I'm talking about inside the locker room) that the starting QB would say something like that? Where's the fire? Where's the f***ing accountability? It's OK to lose to Kansas because they're the Goddamn Orange Bowl champions? Bullsh!t. Bullsh!t and more Bullsh!t. They could have won that game and among many factors in why they didn't was because the guy saying all this crap f***ing ran into his own end zone for no apparent reason and completely turned the game around with that one play. And since when is being a fan of a team that is not playing well none of our F'ing business? Give me a break.
