Has the Big 12 passed the SEC for the top conference honors for now?

Big 12 has 6 teams in the top 25 (4 in top 10), and 3 unbeatens.

SEC has 4 teams in the top 25 (3 in top 10), and 1 unbeaten.

The Big 12 powers are gonna start knocking each other off though.

Too early to tell. Will depend on how well Mizzou recovers and whether Kansas can get through their brutal schedule.

no. thats obviously the wac.

Yes I do believe that the Big XII is sitting in the throne this year. I'm also glad to see that the Big XII north isn't a joke anymore.

Right now in the season most definately....we'll see how it pans out at the end of the season as we beat each other up for a couple of weeks

It's not?

Well.....not like it used to be. It's still not great. If Mizzou and Kansas can stay where they're at (unlikely) and CU & Neb can get back to where they were. The North will be good and competitive.

are you talking compared to the Big XII South.... so far this year the north's only victory over a south team is KSU over A&M.... division record so far is 7-1, south over the north....

also OU has more Big XII Championships than all the Big XII north schools combined (5-4), of course when I say that I also have to say thats true about the remaining 5 south schools too (5-3)....

I live in SEC country and get tired of all the Bama and Auburn talking up the SEC, it is nice to shut them up now because the BIG XII IS THE BEST FOOTBALL CONFERENCE NOW.

It doesnt matter that the teams will start to knock each other off, because it's the same arguement that the SEC has used for years. They whine about having to play such a tough schedule to get to the MNC game and yet brag about the their conference being so tough that if you come out unscathed you be the Natl Champ just for that fact.

The Big 8 wasnt so bad either. I remember one year when half the conference was in the top 10. Another year the Big 8 finished 1,2, and 3 in the nation.

No I'm not comparing them to the South. All though I doubt the teams from the South overlook their North games.
The south is still very dominant over the North. However I think the North isn't a Joke even though they aren't on the Souths level.

The SEC remains the top football conference in the country, IMO. But, I'll be a homer and say that the Big 12 is a close second. I can't think of any other conferences in the country that would stack up, from top to bottom, against either the SEC or the Big 12.

I think we had a post about this a while back, but things have shaken up a bit since then. A Big XII-SEC "showdown" week would be interesting...

1. Texas vs. Alabama
2. Oklahoma vs Florida
3. Okie Lite vs Georgia
4. Texas Tech vs LSU
5. Mizzou vs Vandy
6. Kansas vs. Kentucky
7. Colorado vs South Carolina
8. Nebraska vs Auburn
9. Kansas State vs Ole Miss
10. Baylor vs Tennessee
11. Texas A&M vs Arkansas
12. ISU vs Mississippi State

Ranked the teams by AP poll ranking as far as that went, then by record. Tiebreakers are 100% subjective on my part, so if you disagree, **** you...

Any thoughts on what the overall record would be at this point if we played that out?

I give the Big 12 the nod at this point of the season, but only by a slight margin. The top half of the Big 12 is stronger than that of the SEC, but I'd say the SEC has a little more balance throughout.

1. Texas vs. Alabama - Texas wins this one I think
2. Oklahoma vs Florida - Florida in a close game
3. Okie Lite vs Georgia - OSU
4. Texas Tech vs LSU - LSU
5. Mizzou vs Vandy - Missouri ... not close
6. Kansas vs. Kentucky - Kansas
7. Colorado vs South Carolina - SCAR
8. Nebraska vs Auburn - Auburn
9. Kansas State vs Ole Miss - KSU
10. Baylor vs Tennessee - Tenn
11. Texas A&M vs Arkansas - ATM in a horrible game by both teams
12. ISU vs Mississippi State - MSU

6-6 from this set of matchups. A lot of these games, like OU-Florida, CU-SC, ATM-Arkansas, and ISU-MSU are really difficult to call.

cool, I understand now where you are coming from. I agree with you, the North division is making some strides to even the playing field so to speak with the south division and as whole nationwide in CFB.....

me I would like to see all the schools from the Big 8 conference beat up on the the 4 teams that were adopted form the southweak conference....

I think that the Big XII is the best conference in football right now. I'm so tired of hearing about how the SEC is the best conference out there. It's nice to have the Big XII finally leap over the SEC. Now some of the teams in the North need to wake the hell up and get back up there, i.e. NU and CU.

1. Texas vs. Alabama - Texas
2. Oklahoma vs Florida - Oklahoma
3. Okie Lite vs Georgia - Georgia
4. Texas Tech vs LSU - LSU
5. Mizzou vs Vandy - Misery
6. Kansas vs. Kentucky - Kansas
7. Colorado vs South Carolina - Cocks
8. Nebraska vs Auburn - Auburn
9. Kansas State vs Ole Miss - Ole Miss
10. Baylor vs Tennessee - Tennessee
11. Texas A&M vs Arkansas - Arkansas
12. ISU vs Mississippi State - Mississippi State

The Big 12 matches up great at the top, but the overall depth of the SEC would win out.

SEC= Defense and mediocre offense
Big 12 = Offense and bad defense

I think that is where SEC teams would eek out wins..

Top to bottom the SEC is stronger seeing as how they don't have a Baylor or ISU in the conference anymore....BUT, the top teams in the SEC are NOT that good. Bama has looked less than impressive lately and I'm wondering what happened to their offense. Florida is a team that sometimes shows, sometimes doesn't. LSU's O is a joke. Auburn is straight awful. UGA is pretty sub par on both sides of the ball. Tennessee is terrible. Vandy pissed down their leg after beating Auburn. South Carolina has a bad offense, same with Kentucky. Ole Miss and Miss St. are both hot and cold teams. Overall, the defense in the SEC is fantastic, but the only team that could hang with offenses that can put up huge numbers like the Big XII is Florida.
