Solder Graded 99% Against KSU

at 6'8" I think 300 lbs is a little light. He could use to beef up a little more. By next year I'll bet he's a monster.

The thing about the 300 lbs is that it is almost 100% muscle! He has single digit fat and when someone who has a frame like that goes against another person, Solder will win most of the time. By a senior year, I see a great, great prospect on our hands.

I saw this and my eyes popped. I don't think we had a player do that well once last season. Greeeeat news for the program if he is turning into a good LT.

Now, can he do it against Mizzou? And can the Guards? please godyes....

The thing is that the more you weigh the more weight you can push too. He's not a bodybuilder so single digit BF isn't going to help him, he's a LT. The highest weight division for powerlifters, olympic weightlifters and strongmen have guys that easily outweigh him. He needs to add more weight to his frame. Scouts would consider him undersized right now. That's ok though, he's doing a pretty good job, especially when you consider the position switch. Hopefully we don't make a bowl game so he can start eating and lifting sooner than later.

Strength is the amount of force that can be exerted. Power is the amount of force you can exert over time. Force is mass * acceleration. The more you weigh the more force you can exert the harder it is for DEs to push you around. That's why I've always felt bench press is severely over exaggerated as a quintessential upper body movement. An outstanding overhead press is a stronger move since your stabilizer muscles are working 10 times as hard and you don't "bench" someone on the line.

Oh, and some of the heaviest guys that Oly lift a lot are some of the most flexible and powerful athletes on the planet. I'd take them over a strong man any day so he can definitely still keep his stats and agility up if he works at it, although it does sometimes make it harder when you weigh more.

Oh and awesome performance by Solder. I guess he had to learn quickly by being thrown into the fire against some future 1st round draft picks. He and Miller will be the best tandem bookends in CFB next year. That was the best decision the coaches have made so far and Solder will be thankful when he goes on to the NFL.

I will point out the obvious here. You are absolutely right that more mass = more force but only as long as you can maintain the same acceleration. There's a point of diminishing returns when you just add mass to a big man. If he can't keep the same acceleration or power coming out of his stance then it is useless.

A battle between the "M" and the "W" regarding the finer points of physics.

I personally align myself with "M's" school of thought, because, by his logic, I'm one powerful dude!

I hope that was sarcasm!!:wow:

Yeah, I was being facetious. The Buffs need a bowl to get more playing and practice time for guys like Solder and some of the others who should be coming off of injury reserve for next year. You can't get better if you don't practice. Off-season conditioning will do its work, but without the necessary skills all the strength in the world won't help you against someone with better technique, especially in the Big 12.

Oh, and with more more weight Solder's clean should go up as well, so his acceleration off the line should be about the same (maybe a little better or worse, but nothing drastic unless he does more 1RM strength work). Pittman knows what he's doing so I'm confident Solder is only going to get bigger, faster and stronger.

I saw him at the walk for the WVA game, and if he's 300lbs then Cody's 6'2". I don't think there's anyway he's maintained that 300 lbs he supposedly weighed during the summer. I would guess he's more in the 270-280 range and that might be pushing it.

I was just Quoting Dorn09 on the 300 lbs. I really have no idea.

I've seen him walking around campus, although he looks very tall, you wouldn't guess that he is an offensive tackle. He can definitely add on some more pounds

One time I bumped into him at a party and I fell back a little, but that's because I am really skinny, he could add some more pounds.

No way he is grading at 99% against MU. He is getting torched.
