Ron Prince

Their next hire will be interesting. They could very easily revert back to their pre-Grandma Bill days.

I think they're going to have a hard time attracting quality candidates. Seems like a dead end job to me.

That will be a tough program to be at for a while.. So many JUCOs in this past recruiting cycle. They are going to get hit hard in another year or so when they don't have any players.

Yeah, that next coach is stepping into a mess. Josh Freemen will deffinatly leave after this year.
I love reading KSUfans, they all think that they are going to get a guy like Gary Patterson. But if this is the same AD that was able to land Ron Prince, why would he all the sudden be able to get a big name, especially with the fact that Prince had an OK record and did not get three years.

Can't say this really surprises me, although I'm a little surprised the folks in the little apple have such short memories. It wasn't that long ago that they were the worst in the Big 8. They're not the worst in the Big 12 - yet.

Good points. I just don't see Patterson being interested. He is closer to getting the BCS at his current job than he would be at KSU.

TCU is a better program now anyway. They will have to go after a OC/DC somewhere. Helfrich and Collins are available.

Very surprising. Just heard an interview with Wyatt Thompson, the play-by-play guy for the Purple Pussies (and ex-lammie radio guy) this morning, and he was saying that the wasn't sure if Prince would be back after this year or not, but thought a midseason firing was VERY unlikely... I guess technically he was kind of partially right...

DC at OU would be my guess.

Venables would make sense. Would be interesting to see which kind of hire he turns out to be. Either a successful hire like former Stoops assistants Leach and Mangino or a mediocre to bad hire like Mike Stoops and Chuck Long.

How about USF coach Jim Leavitt? He was a grad assistant I believe at Kansas State. So the question becomes is TCU, USF, the DC at OU a better job than Kansas State?

Yes, yes and yes. They must have really disagreed with his philosophies or something. I thought he was doing okay with what he had to work with. Although, his recruiting seemed reminiscent of GB, get what you can get and coach 'em up.

South Florida is a better job than all of them. If I'm Leavitt I'm only looking for a top 15 program head coaching job. I'm not leaving a recruiting rich state to coach a recruiting poor state. That's a dead end job.

Leavitt isn't leaving Tampa for Manhattan. Never in a million years. Leavitt is at a BCS school in a recruiting rich area. He actually is competitive in the Big Least too. KSU has none of these things. Add to it the added bonus Tampa itself and Leavitt will wait for a gig at one of the traditional powerhouses.

Whaaat? You think he's earned a bus ticket? I say he's earned a garage sale bicycle. 10 bucks max.
To get him out of boulder i would have no problem
A: flying him there or
B: driving him there myself

WHAT EVER IT TAKES>

What about Gary Barnett?

seriously. The dood's available.

And already has his own purple wardrobe....

Personally, I'd be happier if they hired Willingham. GB might never make them great, but he'd make them better....
