Wow, I guess Teddy Greenstein really doesn't like Charlie Weis. He's not going to win any coach of the year honors right now, but there wasn't even a half-hearted attempt to objectively judge his tenure at ND.

Mr. Greenstein, I'm disgusted by your article. While I'm in the ranks of ND fans not pleased with the performance with the team or the coaching staff as of late, what is the point of an attack such as this? You and Jason Whitlock must have studied journalism together...

Nice hatchet piece. For the record Weis won with Davie's players in 2005 and went 3 and 9 with Willingham's group. What a pathetic article.

What a hack job. You should be ashamed of yourself for this garbage you call a report. The coach from Pryor's high school was just mad Charlie didn't offer him a car or house like the Suckeyes or the Trojan's would have. You are a hack writer and another hater of the Greatest University of ALL TIME.

What a garbage story. Wow Teddy, you really must be pretty desperate for material if this is all you could come up with. You should go write for Jerry Springer or Howard Stern if this is the only way to get people to read your crap. Funny how you say that alot of former ND players and alumn hate Weis, but are just to afraid to talk. What kind of BS is that? Also, Weis never recruited Pryor as a QB, but as a WR. There were was very little mutual intrest. What next article can we look forward to; Clausen being a primadonna? Please Teddy, get some real material, do some real research, and give us something worth reading.

For every Pete Carroll there are ten Charlie Weis' (NFL to NCAA). As a Cincinnati native (see Moeller HS) and Ohio State graduate I plead with Notre Dame to sign Coach Weis to a ten year extension. I wonder what Kyle Rudolph and Michael Floyd are thinking these days...

"Weis is incredibly lucky. In his first season, using Tyrone Willingham's players"
wrong.
more than half the starters were Davie recruits. If you're gonna bash ND, at least get the facts straight

This was nothing more than a poorly researched blog full of anonymous quotes. With articles like this, it's clear why the newspaper industry is in so much trouble and columnists like Greenstein have to take pay cuts. I guess they will do anything to keep there job, including losing all journalistic credibility.

While it is not surprising that the Irish faithful have taken issue with this piece, Mr Greenstein did provide some salient facts. The one which may be most illulminating about the state of Weis' program is that ND's wins this year have come against teams with a combined 12-27 record. To say that his results have been well short of his boasts / claims (wasn't there a quote from him at the time of his arrival suggesting that his teams may be outplayed but never outcoached?) is not something that can be disputed by anyone that is intellectually honest.

I hope that foul mouth, embarrassment of a human being stays at ND forever. He is the most overated coach that I know of in my liftime and as long as he is there ND football will continue to be the joke of college football.

Clearly some of the other comments here were not from MY community. Quinn and Samardzija were recruited by Willingham. Is it safe to say they were the best players on Weis' two good teams? MY community is never wrong, but when they are, I will be sure to tell them. I own a business.

There's always two sides to a man - great effort painting him as a jerk. What about the rest?
I bet I could find someone who thinks you are the biggest scum on the planet- does that mean you are?

You are a gutless punk Greenstein. But don't let the facts get in the way of a great story. Typical hack journalist who has an axe to grind. Would this story been written if ND were 7-2 instead of 5-4? Don't think so. Why would anyone believe you when it comes to ND? Never objective.

I'm not even a Notre Dame fan. A friend sent me this article. A friend that hates Charlie Weis. The article jumps all over the place and is poorly written. You are a hack! How in the world do writers like you actually find employment. No wonder the Tribune is hurting financially. The next time you decide to write a scathing story about anyone please make an attempt to interview the person so we can hear both sides of the story. By the way, I've seen Terrel Pryor in interviews. I realize he is young, but he seems pretty arrogant as well. I'm sure that doesn't matter though.

Ty Willingham's only good season (2002) was when he inherited a stacked cupboard of Bob Davie's star-studded recruits like Justin Tuck, Courtney Watson, Vontez Duff, Glenn Earl, Shane Walton, Gerome Sapp, Jeff Faine, and Arnaz Battle.

the whole "well he won with the previous coaches players" is an asinine and stupid argument. you can say that about anybody. i guess by using the transitive property, that means that Urban Meyer won a National Title with Ron Zook's players?

"Notre Dame is a special place, with a mix of football tradition and academic excellence matched perhaps only by Michigan and USC."

USC? Academically excellent? Right...

The academic "excellence" of Michigan and U$C football players is not on the field as ND. Isn't their grad rates something like 50%? Oh, forget it. I'm tired of defending ND to people who don't have a clue.

Jebus! I can see why the crusades were so successful if those catholic's were anything like these.

I would be surprised if the fat slob is around next year. ND has lots of money to buy him out - even in this economy.

It's hard to believe that he even survived a 3-9 season at ND. And in 2006 they were fully expected to be a national title contender and barely got into a BCS bowl, and that was only because Michigan State and UCLA choked away games they should've won. Oh yea, and they were slaughtered by LSU in the Sugar Bowl.

Tyrone Willingham showed much more class and professionalism and had about an equivalent record, and he only lasted 3 seasons at South Bend.

Tuck is just one of the best DEs in the NFL and most likely was one of the main reasons why the Giants beat the Pats in the Super Bowl.

I didn't put two and two together with Justin Tuck. Now that you point that out, yeah, he's a very good player. Unfortunately, I don't get to see the Gints very much.

So who are the other guys?

INT on the first ND possession. After they say the floating fat man said Clausen wouldnt throw any this week
