Orms, Land lead Wheat Ridge to easy victory
By Pat Rooney, Special to the Rocky

Wheat Ridge's top rivals in the Class 4A West Metro League might have believed the Farmers had sustained a significant dent in their armor when Taylor Aversano, the team's top receiver and second-leading rusher, was lost for the season because of a knee injury he suffered last week.

But the Farmers still feature all-everything running back Parker Orms, and Friday, quarterback Charlie Land showed his arm might be capable of filling some of the void left by Aversano.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms

I'd like to see the staff offer him a greyshirt spot. The kid is a baller. I'd hate to see him go to the lammies.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms

A greyshirt offer would be fine with me, but I think there are better options out there if he is intent on signing for the 2009 class.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms

Pretty funny that picture is against my old high school. He tore us up I remember playing him he was a damn good player and a good kid. He'd be a great get by Hawkins.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms

if willie kennedy is gone (wtf is up with that anyways?), does that mean Orms has a chance at a schollie?

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

It's good to see him get an offer.... Finally.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

is he gonna be an rb or a safety?

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms

Please tell me that kid he's playing against isn't 11 years old.

Lol no he's 18 and a ginger, that's my old high school.

But Parker is a great athlete, I absolutely hate trashy, cheap Wheat Ridge but definitely respected this kid great football player and it would be a huge mistake to not offer him a scholarship.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

Welcome Parker.

I like the way this guy tackes. Should be able to r/s him and get him up to 195 or 200 without losing an speed.

Re: Why are we offering Orms?

Makes no sense to offer him at this time? Is it going so poorly that we are now offering 2nd and 3rd tier guys? Can someone please for the love of god explain this to me. I have seen him play...he would fit in on this team...along with 06s team...if you catch what I am saying. He is a D2 kid!

Have no idea on this kid but maybehe has team mates who love him and he can help recruit ?

Disagree. I was cringing at the thought of him going to CSU and tearing us up every year.

Re: Why are we offering Orms?

I like Orms. I don't know, I just like the fact that this kid brings it every day. I would'nt bet against a kid like Parker. Most importantly is the fact that he's a top in-state kid. I know we can't pull every top Colorado kid, but HS coaches notice these things. Hawk said he'd make Colorado a priority and he has more than delivered on that.

Logan and Kasa would help with that delivery.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

I think Kasa is a lost cause. He'd walk on if Meyer gave him the opportunity.

I'm not so sure about Logan though. He seems to be waiting for Washington to name a new coach. I think he'll end up there with his older brother Alvin.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

hopefully your wrong about kasa. That would be losing momentum in the state of Colorado in my book. 2 of the top 10 players in Colorado would be Buffs, that is it. And we can all agree to disagree, Orms might be a lifer special teams player. Granted Colorado wasnt a hot bed this year but Logan and Kasa can play. Of course, get Nuckols or Coleman, keep Nosa and Bonsu, sign Nash, we could be okay on the line. Kasa would certainly help though

I can't believe people are starting to question our in-state recruiting. So we might not pull the top CO kid this year. We have the last two years, so this obviously means Hawkins is losing momentum?

And now we are bashing Orms, Who's a top 10 Colorado kid. As a lifer ST player. Those kind of recruits beat OU in the Fiesta Bowl. Those kids beat OU last year. Let him get on campus and prove himself before you write him of as a ST lifer.

People get themselves wrapped up in these recruiting rankings, or how high a kid is rated. If Parker wants to be a Buff, and Hawkins offers him a spot, that's good enough for me. I'll take Hawkins word, or any other CFB coaches word, over these recruiting websites.

Hey now, I love the Buffs, Hawk supporter. You always be bashing me valdez for some reason. I keep getting blindsided. You got your opinion I have mine. Not trying to rip Orms at all. Great player. I hope he is an All American and gets drafted on day 1. Sometimes you have rely a little bit on those pay services because that is all we have and it says that if we lose Kasa and Logan, most definitely need kids in the Buff program, maybe the top two of three positions that the Buffs need, then they didn't get the job done in Colorado this year. Not trying to ruffle your feathers man just a guys opinion.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

Safety is not a need at this point and Logan has always been an uphill battle with his brother at UW.

Kasa is a priority, but in the end, if he's infatuated with UF, we will move on.

I love the quote "if Hawkins offers him a spot, that's good enough for me". Because that's the bottom line. Love him or hate him, Hawk has brought in a slew of good players that have gotten better with each class. The recruiting services are wrong on so many levels that their track record is just not reliable. My dog can figure out that if a guy is choosing between USC, OU and Florida, that he might be a player. The guys we are typically in on are looking at ASU, Cal and Oregon... Pretty good sign that they are good players. We are (at least for now) also filling up on guys that are looking at MWC schools and this is the test. They haven't been scouted. If Tyler Hansen is looking at Idaho and CU, well then, he must be a 2*. If he was a 4*, he'd be looking at UCLA. We have to make the right decisions on those guys to make sure we are getting the next George Hypolite (over-achiever) and not the next M. Houston.....

Recruiting 18 year old kids and projecting them ahead 4 years is tough. The 5* kids are usually good enough that no projection is needed (Ryan Miller the man child). The rest have to gain weight, get stronger, learn a new position, etc (Nate Solder)

I am not ready to write either of those guys off, but I think that CU is fighting an uphill battle for both of those guys, and will say more about Hawk if we land them, then if we don't. Kasa was born in Florida, and that has always been his team. Logan has a brother playing for UW. Those things are hard to overcome. If Hawk pulls these guys in, that might be some of his finest recruiting work yet. IMO...

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

No one thought Chase McBride would make an impact and he did. This kid looks like a football player.

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

Parker Orms may not have the size or speed but this kid brings it every play. Most importantly this kid really wants to be a Buff. It's his dream come true, he will fight that much harder for us. He probably won't be a starter but will contribute and be a valuable asset to this team. Welcome Parker. Go Buffs!!!

Re: '09 CO S Parker Orms(Committed to Colorado - 11/16/08)

You can bet that Hawkins knows everything about this kid. He knows how fast he is, how hard he works, how he gets along with his teammates, how he does in class. He's probably seen him play or practice in person and certainly an assistant has seen him play or practice a few times.

If he redshirts and ends up playing as well as Mahnke has on special teams early in his career, and maybe moves into the two deep as a junior, then this is a good scholarship.

Anyway, all those Wheatridge guys I went to college with were always "outstanding in their field." Or was that a joke?
