Did anyone else here anything about scott or dykes this week?

The injuries we've had this year are unreal,to lose this many players in one year is bad,bad luck.

This team is f-in cursed!! OK, who farted in church to piss off the Almighty to give us all these mishaps and buffoonery?

So what happened to Dykes? Did he fall off the face of the Earth? Why was he not introduced on Senior night?

Why are there some many ****ing injuries? ****! I am really concerned that it is not just bad luck, but a bad strength and conditioning coach. That is way too many injuries for a team in one year.

The injuries I've seen don't have anything to do with the S&C coach. Broken bones, twisted knee/ankles, et al, aren't the aftermath of s&c.

We're all bummed about the injuries. I just don't feel that we need to lay blame on one preson or one particular reason.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything...but has anyone noticed that the Coach's son NEVER gets injured!

Okay, I'm kidding. But as the day wears on, that very post may appear on Buffzone without a hint of irony.

The amount of injuries have been a lot this year...but most teams are playing with injured players out, or hampered, at this point in the season. Injuries are a part of football..a coaching staff that does not prepare their team to step into other roles when injuries occur, are those teams which play more poorly as the season goes on.

Maybe the players and coaches will get up for the Nebraska game..maybe. Otherwise, it seems like there is little fire or passion, on the sidelines, or on the field. I would like to see Hawk scream at officials, or get in the face of his players when it's needed..or see the players with a little pushing and shoving the other team after plays.........in other words, show some competitive fire, da****it.

Maybe... but most teams aren't missing 1/2 their OLineman. They aren't missing their 1 and 2 RBs. They aren't missing both their starting FS and SS.

The injuries have been very focused this season. It isn't like we've lost one OL, a WR, a LB, a DB, and a DT.... we have decimated specific positions. The result is that we have a lack of talent and experience at huge areas of the field, with no one to help mask the weakness. It is almost impossible to execute a gameplan in that situation.

I'm not ready to say these guys don't have passion - I think they have it, but they are also young and are trying to learn how to play D1 football. These guys don't need Hawk in their face chewing them out (for the most part) at this point. They know what they need to work on.

Funny you mention that. My wife is a personal trainer, and she believes it's bad conditioning. They need to peak during the game, so must rest the day before, and that they are getting injured because they are being pushed too hard and told through to muscle through games and practice to compensate for inexperience and bad coaching.

She told me of the training routines the NFL players follow in order to avoid injury and handle 16 games even they are older and that she doubts this strength and conditioning coach is using anything similar.

Now, this is just speculation based on her experience and knowledge of athletic training programs.

So, YES, we agree with you, sounds like the program isnt working very well.

Okay, I'll play the devils' advocate.

If this were true, why didn't Hawk's boise state teams have alot of injuries? Why didn't the Buffs suffer similar types and numbers of injuries last year?

Point is, this team has had a rash of injuries from a variety of incidents, but I'm not sold that they are a product of the s&c program. For instance, Miller and Stewart suffered broken bones. Walters hurt his knee/ankle when he planted and tried to change direction. MTM and J Major had knee injuries in non-contact drills during practice. Iltis had someone fall on his knee during a scrimmage. Scott is the only one I can think of who is a direct result of strength and conditioning, and his is actually a lack of s&c - had he been here working out during the summer, who knows what might have happened.

I forget the exact number, but during the telecast they mentioned the total number of games missed due to injury for the Buffs and it was an astonishing number.

I think it was over 100.

According to Plati's pregame notes last night, counting games players out for the year will miss, the minimum will be 111. I doubt that counted Dykes or Scott last night. All but 8 of those games are guys on the 2 deep. :sad1:

:yeahthat: a great s&c program will not save you from a broken leg when horse collar tackled. nor will it change the fact that knees are meant to work in a certain way, and when we mess with that, it is bad news.

as for possibilities of s&c failing, scott and maybe j-fly (how did both of those shoulders get wrecked?) come to mind as possibilities. the s&c coach had two weeks with scott before the season began; i'm not laying that one at his feet. i would have to think through j-fly before making a decision on that one. i think the "cursed" hypothesis makes more sense.

i appreciate your critical thinking prior to grabbing the tar, fire, and pitchfork.

When Coach Pittman leave the office each day, he isn't oblivious to all of the bodies that he is responsible for conditioning, and all the injuries that they have sustained.

My guess is that as a professional, Pittman has consulted with a bunch of experts from coaching and sports medicine ranks. Maybe he even reads journals and researches the bleeding edge material, and adjusts his training regimes accordingly. Maybe Hawkens and Pittman himself have second guessed some aspects of the team's W&C program.

But it's unlikely Pittman is ignorantly driving the players down the path of injury like some runaway train.

They said he was sick/ill. I don't know about you guys, but those freshmen safeties didn't look like a step backwards to me. Mahnke delivers every bit the amount of hit as Walters. That goal line stand was made possible only when their RB was off to the races on an inside run and Mahnke came up and drilled him in the open field at the 4 yd line. The RB had a full head of steam and he went backwards! That was as good of a hit as I've seen all year. He also delivered a bigtime hit on a sideline pass that was timed perfectly and the ball was jarred loose for an incomplete pass.

If there was any season left at all, I'd be hoping to see Walters and Mahnke in there at the same time. That RB runs over Dykes for a TD..... And don't get me wrong, I love the Idaho Walkon, but what I saw Mahnke do was EXCITING.

Although I have personally had my absolute fill of this Boise State bull**** [these coaches -- all of them, including Dan -- have made it ABUNDANTLY clear that they are utterly incompetent], you can't blame the injuries on Pittman.
