Oklahoma leapfrogs UT

Hmm. That's kind of BS. I guess that OU's decisive home win over tt negated ut's neutral win over them and road loss to tt. Tough call. I could see the argument that if ou and ut played next week, ou would win.

UT should be ahead of OU. Identical records and they beat them head to head on a neutral field.

I feel bad for the Ags this week, UT is going to hang a headache on them to make an impression.

I kind of feel like that situation doesn't apply in this situation since there is a three way tie. By that argument, Tech should be ahead of Texas since they have the same record and they beat them. This is a tough one. Who knows, maybe the odd man out will end up benefiting if Mizzou can knock someone off in the Championship.

Assuming they beat Oklahoma State, Oklahoma will have the most wins against the BCS top 20 of any one loss school. This to me puts Oklahoma over the top.

At least OU has a reasonable argument for jumping UT. UF, on the other hand, does not. WTF?

EDIT: and yes, I realize the Coaches put OU at 2, and that's really the only poll that counts. Still...playoff!

I don't think the NCAA realizes how much cash they can make with a 8 or 6 team playoff system. How great would that be for CFB fans. The ratings would be phenomenal.

I mostly agree with the head to head argument for UT. but, if brings down the BCS and conference money-grubbing...then let the chaos ensue.

i think OU has the better "A game" but maybe UT is more consistent week to week.

Texas should be ahead of OU. Tech got BEASTED and are dropped from the MNC conversation. They beat them H2H, end of story.

rating would be great but fans can't travel that much especially with a conference championship game. it's too $$$ for the rank and file CFB fan.

UT beat CU (badly) in 2001 h2h, not the end of story. OU beat that UT team.

i agree with h2h, but it's such a cluster f*** to not settle it on the field.

Despite UT's win over OU, it's what have you done for me lately and OU just butt-whipped a team coming off 2 impressive wins. And OU will only gain on their lead over UT if OU beats a very good OSU team, while UT wouldn't get all that much recognition for demolishing a bad A&M team.

It looks like the pollsters are analysing the respective seasons of the teams and how they are progressing.

Texas' only loss was to TT by 6 points in Lubbock.

They were flat against the Cowboys, winning by just 4 points.

They did pretty good against the falling Jayhawks, 35 to 7, but the big scores only came against Florida Atlantic, Rice and Arkansas. The Mizzou game was ok, in Columbia the Tigers could only get 31 on them when they were averaging in the 50s.

Meanwhile, as Texas seemed to be getting flatter, Oklahoma's scores stayed high in the second half of their season. I think those who vote sometimes do the right thing and look at more than who beat whom; they seem to look at how the team is *today* as opposed to earlier in the season.

If they were boxers and each game was a round in the fight, Texas would be game but wobbling and Oklahoma would be standing up straight firing jabs and big power punches in the last several rounds.

i agree with your insight, and wanted to pass on that i think you have a hell of an analogy to end with. texas may rally yet. but at the moment they may be wobbling.

Thanks.

Yeah wobbly fighters can rally and win in the final round.

I wonder what the majority of Buffs fans want in the end: Texas or Oklahoma. Here in Nebraska the sentiments seem to be for Mac and gang.

I respect Mac More than Bob, so I'm pulling for the 'Horns to win out strong and Sooners to get surprised big by the Cowboys, dreamer that I can be at times.

i'll BET nebraskans are for mack and gang. last game the horns won in lincoln, nu was very much in it. contrast that with a few weeks ago where my hubby was told to "be quiet" when he would cheer out for sooner td's during the opening minutes of the game. he says the people in red cloud were too shocked at the events transpiring to drink. :wink2:

at any rate, i think that to-date, oklahoma has taken out more top 20 teams than texas, and have continued progressing. i do not doubt texas fans are pissed. but like it or not, the voters are favoring a whole picture view instead of playing transient property games.

texas has been VERY blessed with respect to a number of calls which helped them this year. looking at the rrso (had to save it to dvr, as i was in lawrence), they had many gifts from the stripes. so if okie gets a gift from the voters, i am not going to have all the hair fall out of my head.

This has less to do with the BCS than with the traditional human polls. Even before the BCS, the same thing would have occured. Lose early and you stand a better chance of ending highly ranked than if you lose late. Just the way it is... doesn't make it right.

Of course I do have a rooting interest, but I think OU is a better team than UT. If I remember correctly, the OU/UT game was no blow-out or anything. Sure OU lost, but isn't the idea of the BCS to bring the "two best" teams against each other for a championship game?

Regardless who won in October, do you really think that UT is a better team today. What is sad is that a North team is even involved in this years B12 championship. I'd rather see another OU/UT match-up to settle things for good.

Who knows, perhaps OSU, A&M or Baylor will settle it anyway. Stranger things have happened.

I don't even want to go to work tomorrow, there are so many damned sooner fans there and they are just going to be insufferable :sad2:

I'm going home for Christmas. :sad1: I really hope Okie lite pulls it out next week.

personally, i think you do a disservice to people who live there and love the sooners. but okay. :smile2:

whether or not okie lite wins, if you want to get in trouble with the rum gun while you are in okie, i am in

I keep my mouth shut for the most part. I do change the channel on the radio when it starts blaring out that damn song. I roll my eyes a lot. I think my mother instructs my stepfather to stfu (the same way I instruct both my mom and husband not to even speak about basketball). My stepmother doesn't really know **** so I can forgive her.

Will you guys be in Okie over Christmas?

We are driving out the Saturday before Christmas and leaving the day after. I think Christmas is Thursday this year.

Wow, that is a long time.
