So, assuming we're looking at an OU - Florida Championship game, if OU wins and UT destroys their opponent, I would think there is a pretty good chance of a split national title, with OU winning the obligatory coaches poll and UT winning the AP. Thoughts?

Could happen-
What about USC ? If they destroy Penn St don't they have a bitch?

hold your horses... FL didn't get #1 in the coaches, UT stilll has a shot.

They might have a bitch, but there is no chance of that. I think the UT-OU split is plausible.

An 8 team playoff would sure lead to some great football this post season

Yep. There'd be some awesome matchups.

We were looking at the the bcs top 8 from 2000 on, the other day. Would've been some monster games assuming a traditional format. I'd love to see it happen, but I don't think the bowl cities and ncaa wanna give up the current bowl-by-invite system.

I also think there is a high probability of a split national title. I say let UT and OU play a game in a field in the middle of nowhere and this will all get sorted out.

And what if TT destroys Ole Miss. There is a chance we have something like a 5 way split Natl Title between:
OU: Who actually played in the game and won
Bama: Who was 1 game away from playing and destroyed Utah
Utah: If they beat Bama, they will be the only undefeated team in FBS
Texas: Beat OU in regular season and kicked OSU's ass
USC: Managed to lose a game they shouldnt and beat the hell outta PSU
PSU: If they beat USC they were a last second kick from playing in the big game.

So assuming OU wins, along with TT, UT, USC, Utah (just for fun) then we have a 5 way split Natl Title with each team having a good argument to have played in the big game.

28-24 in Austin is kicking OSU's ass?? Only reason they won is they called a 3rd down pass completion back, long pass play late in the 4th that was completed to inside the UT 10 due to offensive pass interference. then on the next play OSU didnt convert and had to punt to Texas....

you must be thinking of the OU game in Stillater.....:smile2:

oh and btw it wont be a split, the winner of the OU/UF game will be #1 in the AP poll....

OSU as in BLOWhio State....not Okie St

Boise State got f*&ked IMO, they should be playing in the Fiesta Bowl against Texas and Ohio State should be playing in a ****tier bowl.

I agree that Ohio State doesn't belong, but Boise's schedule was horrid and I don't think they belong either. They beat Oregon early and Fresno State at the end. But I watched them play several times in the middle of the season and they were less than dominating vs. San Jose State and Southern Miss.

A very good team, but not top ten in my book. Texas Tech would kill them.

Texas would have a better shot at the split if they were playing Bama in the Sugar Bowl. beating a 2 loss tOSU team that is 1-2 against ranked opponents (how is THIS a BCS bowl record?) is not going to give them much, IMO.

That is a neat trick since Texas did not play Ohio State this year....You must be thinking of USC who beat up on Ohio State this year.

He's making the assumption that UT will beat Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

No, I am saying that when Texas throttles Ohio St in the Fiesta Bowl, would you consider them to have part of the Natl Title if OU wins? Both have 1 loss.
