Thoughts on the title game

-Starting to think that Oklahoma is the Buffalo Bills of college football. While I do feel bad at times watching them, I realize what the Sooners have done in the past to the Buffs and the rest of college football, and I don't feel so sorry for them.

-Florida looked faster and more talented than OU.

-Tim Tebow is a gamer. I love the energy he brings to his team. He is a guy you would love to have on your team. Plus he is a great person. That OU CB is a dumb ass for opening his mouth.

-I wasn't aware that Mangino's daughter was in the OU band and she is so emotional just like the OU kids.

-OU screwed themselves by not scoring twice in the redzone in the first half, once turning it over and once on downs. They score both times and OU wins.

-Bob Stoops is getting fat with his age. I loved seeing his frustrated face.

I already know the title is not split, but here is my top 5. BTW, I don't think Utah is the best team, but they deserve the #1 ranking.

1. Utah
2. Florida
3. USC
4. Texas
5. Oklahoma

Oh ya and any OU fan that thought the Sooners would roll up another 60 point game are morons. Thats what happens when you give a good defense more than a month to prepare for any offense. OU's D played well too.

All that I can say is that...Big Game Bob didn't disappoint us once again! He's like the Marv Levy of College Football! In a title game, you NEVER leave points on the field. He should of kicked a FG instead of going for it on 4th and goal. It was way too early to gamble. Just my two cents.

I didn't see the talent advantage you saw. I saw two very evenly matched teams, athletically. Where I think OU lost the game was when they decided to abandon the power running game. They were ripping off 6-8 yard runs right up the middle on Florida.

I don't think OU has as many 4.3 runners as Florida does. Plus, Florida's burners were banged up and still made plays. Not saying it's a huge difference, but I thin UF is faster overall.

Yeah I agree with ya Unleash. It was very obvious that the Gator's were superior in the speed department.

I think the two teams were pretty even all around, except that OU doesn't have anyone like Percy Harvin around - he was the fastest player on the field. But OU had their chances and choked - I think they win that game if they get even 10 points out of those two goal line drives in the first half.

Regardless, it is official - OU's loss hurt the perception of the Big 12 and it is the duty of CU (and NU) to raise the conference back to where it was in the '90s. Shame on you OU; go Buffs!

hence UH's buffalo bills reference in post #1

Meh...it's early and I'm stlll hungover from the game last night. Although I am not a fan of either team, the tail gating was top notch! My boss gave us tickets (he's a Gator fan) so we decided to go.

I don't know about too early, but it was definitely too far. Fourth and a full yard? That was pretty dumb.

huh? the Big XII only existed for 4 years in the 90's. and CU did precious little in those years to "raise the conference".

The first year we finished second in the north behind Nebraska (equivelant to OU now) and we had a top 10 finish, but after that we didn't in the 90's.

They did? You watch the first 3 quarters of the game? Other than Harvin (who was the best player on the field) I thought OU and UF were pretty equal..

If I was an OU fan, I'd be pissed as hell to lose that game.. Why they ran 4 consecutive times during that goal line stand by UF was just hideous along with the Bradford pick right before the half.. OU should have been up at least a score before the half..

Overall speed with both teams 100%, UF IS faster. And you are correct, OU screwed themselves. Bad coaching

Hey look at the bright side. OU has lost 5 BCS games in a row. That is a pretty lofty record for any program to beat. :smile2:

If they had taken the field goal it would still not have mattered after Black ripped their hearts out. The ensuing drive by UF and the scoring drive before that one really took a lot of time off the clock.

In the UF had the ball about 10 more minutes than OU did.

Time of Possession UF 34:57 OU 25:03

I was speaking about the conference in general in the '90s, as, until recently, the reputation of the Big 12 was bolstered solely by Big 8 teams (Nebraska, CU, Kansas State, Oklahoma). And CU had everything to do with that throughout the 1990s. It's easy to forget about that sometimes, especially lately.

Kind of like the stat that ESPN was throwing around last night that made me nauseous, that the SEC has won 5 BCS titles compared to the Big 12's 2 - but that stat is distorted by the age of the current BCS system. But if you go beyond that to the Bowl Coalition days, or to 1990, the Big 8/Big 12 compares well to the SEC (7 to 6).
