Your Final four would have been;

USC v Texas

Utah v Florida

Those would have been some fun games to watch.

Neither would have been fun to watch

USC v Texas would have been over by half time

Utah v Florida would have been UGA/UH reincarnated

Utah v Texas Tech? That would have been a good game.

You are an idot.

This Utah team was miles better than UH last year, they beat 4 top 25 teams and whacked 'bama worse than Florida did. I am not saying they would have won but you've lost it if you think they would have been slaughtered like UH was.

Seriously, what does a team have to do to get respect? I bet if we were all Utah fans we would be bitching.

#1 in my book after how they beat 'bama

They beat the **** out of Bama. Bama was the only other team to go undefeated through regular season. And nobody better bring up the Bama wasn't ready BS, because Bama had the chance to become the 2nd Bama team to win 13 games, and they knew it.

Bama didn't expect Utah to be as good as they were. They took Utah very lightly.

Correct.

Bama was playing in its first Sugar Bowl in a very long time. I realize CU fans don't understand the importance of the Sugar Bowl to SEC teams, but Alabama was not taking that game lightly. They just got worked.

I'm not taking anything away from Utah, but Bama did not expect what they got in that game. You could see it in their faces. They were completely shocked. I mark it up to arrogance on their part. They believed that the Sugar Bowl was their baby, their birthright. The very thought that some bass-ackwards team from a little state way out west from a mid-major conference should even share the field with the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide was, to them, offensive. They went into that game way over-confident.

the best part about it is the fact 'bama is from the big bad SEC and they just got punched in the mouth by Utah, in their own back yard. Damn i love that, i hate the SEC and their arrogance.

Only idiot here is the guy thinking Utah would have a chance against Florida.

I find it rather ironic that we as a bunch of Buff fans can point to the fact that it was the injuries and youth of an offensive line that derailed a chance at a bowl game for the Buffs, but can't see that losing a top 3 draft pick and cornerstone of your offensive line wouldn't have a detrimental effect to Alabama. Alabama's bread and butter was running to Andre Smith's side of the ball and he protected JPW's blindside with ease. Once he was gone (which I believe was done on purpose not to be exposed to injury for the NFL draft) and then his backup was injured that line was toast. You add to the fact that Alabama walked into the game on a mental vacation and they were ripe for an upset.

I doubt Florida or last year's chip on a shoulder UGA Bulldog squad would have treated the game the same way.

I give Utah credit for the victory and leave it at that. The Utes have my total respect and hope the politics of college football change that will allow them the chance to compete for the title. BUT if it ever does happen that they get a chance to play.....that's a game I'd hate to watch.

Alabama couldn't block anybody in the Utah game no matter where they came from, and they came from everywhere. Losing that tackle hurt, but they had no answer for Utah's blitzes.

I call BS on this

Think about this way; Alabama had 3 weeks to prepare for this game. We can therefore come to two conclusions;

1. The coaches did not adequately gameplan and or prepare the team in practice to counter Utah.

2. The more likely answer is that Alabama did not have the right players to simulate Utah in practice.

I have heard many, many, many coaches (Jimmy Johnson, Tom Osborne, Bobby Bowden) admit that the thing they can not simulate in practice for the defense is the speed of the opposing teams offense.

I think it was a little bit of under coaching, a little bit of poor practice, and a little bit of overconfidence that probably cost them. They looked like they wanted to run kind of a power game against Utah but the pressure on the QB prevented that. I also think that with Utah running up a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter probably wrecked the clock management/game plan strategy Saban had in mind.

I agree with most, and I agree that UF would have beaten Utah. But Utah did beat 4 ranked teams, Florida beat 4 ranked teams and lost to one. Utah did not play a joke of a schedule, they played one worthy of being in the national championship talk. And I think they deserved the title. There have been many teams over the years that have played a much weaker schedule than Utah's and won the MNC, so why not Utah?

Were you there? Did you talk to the coaches about placing the NFL status of a star player ahead of winning one of the biggest games of the year? Which players told you or indicated they were on a mental vacation? Seriously?

This is the internet. If your going to spread conspiracy theories and least dummy up some photos and documents for us. Or maybe you just cant come to terms with the fact that historical "order" of college football's hierarchy is changing to be inclusive of all 119 NCAA dues paying members.

First its idot.

Second only once this year did 'bama score more than 31 points a against a legitimate team even with a healthy Smith. You'd have to imagine they'd have had a hard time with Utah even at 100%

Ummm, correction, Boise State also went undefeated in the regular season, losing its bowl game to TCU (by 1 point).
