Finals poll

That's too bad - I wonder how different the numbers would have been had the Utah/Alabama game been Tuesday night instead of almost a week ago. Tulsa and Ball State earned that slot though, you can't take that away from them

I'm disappointed in the AP, but I was expecting them to come in about 25% for Utah. Once again, the press has failed miserably in the not being incredibly predictable contest.

:wow:Since Ole Miss beat Florida it is obvious they should be national champions.

and they beat TTech that beat Texas.....

...and Texas beat Oklahoma.

Not sure how that fits into this discussion...I just wanted to mention it again.

I really thought the AP would vote the Utes #1.

Wainaminnit. Which team did Mack Brown vote #1? I must just be imagining something he said after the Fiesta Bowl.

Is Baghdad Bob working for the BCS and college football now?

"No No No, Utah is not undefeated and they played a crap schedule from some conference out west that no one ever heard of. Look here at our Champion from Florida, quit looking at the big zero in Utah's record, stop it now!... Don't mind that other number in their record next to Florida's wins, it is not important, Florida is the champion"

When you see all those records in a poll like that, the Utah one sure stands out like a bunch of M1 tanks rolling through smoke filled Baghdad.

1. Florida (48) 13-1 1,606 1

2. Utah (16) 13-0 1,519 7

3. Southern Cal (1) 12-1 1,481 5

5. Oklahoma 12-2 1,391 2

6. Alabama 12-2 1,264 4

7. TCU 11-2 1,193 11

Everybody including Utah beat 4 ranked teams

Didn't USC only beat 3??

Of course, they are the only team to have 3 top 10 wins, if you wanted to make the USC argument (which I don't...)

I have no problem with Florida being #1. But I totally disagree with anybody that says Utah doesn't even have an argument themselves...

EDIT: Damn you Leash, you caught that before I could post!!

This is why I can jump on board the Utah wagon this year. In the past the Boise State type teams didn't beat that many teams int he top 25. This year is different!

If everyone had one loss, then yeah, I would throw Utah out, but their schedule was not that much easier to let an entire loss get explained away.

Im not surprised by the outcome. Dissapointed, but not surprised.

I would point out that Utah was ranked #2 ahead of USC. And they were less than 100 point behind Florida so they obviously influenced some of the voters.

Congrats on a nice season!

Not to mention the ball busting conference that they play in week after week. Put them in the SEC or Big 12 and they would have 3 loses every year.

You gonna tell me playing BYU is the same thing as playing Florida or OU?

They beat 4 ranked teams, they smacked a Bama team that was the only BCS team to go undefeated through regular season. Would Utah beat Florida? probably not, but Utah played a good schedule and deserved the title. BTW, the Big 12 is overatted and Utah would have finished 1st or 2nd in the north IMO. You sir need to be smacked across the head with a 2x4:thumbsup:

Maybe that 2x4 would be better served up the side of your head. 1st or 2nd in the Big 12 North - how lame is that statement? The Big 12 North is one of the weakest divisions in major conference football.

2 ranked teams and 1 in ORV? I challenge you to prove to me how that is the weakest.

But they are not and that is your opinion... We can only judge them off of what actually happened. Everything else is ifs and buts.

I can't believe I didn't get any love for my Baghdad Bob post up there... You guys do know who he is right?

If we went by the team that we "think" is the best, why wouldn't USC be National Champion? I'm firm in the belief that USC is the best team in college football - hands down.

Arguments can be made all over the spectrum on the subject. Maybe that's what makes college football so fun.
