2009 NFL Draft - who leaves early?

College football is sure changing into a direction I don't like. Kids starting to leave early just as much as the NBA now, and how political it is with the BCS and rankings.:sad1:

The uncertainty about the NFL CBA surely does play a role here.

Maclin has declared

Other notable guys skipping their remaining eligibility

Andre Smith, OT Alabama
Matthew Stafford, RB Georgia
Knowshon Moreno, RB Georgia
Josh Freeman, QB Kansas State
Chris Wells, RB Ohio State
LeSean McCoy, RB Pittsburgh

Shonn Greene, RB Iowa

Any will do! I'd love to some how land Shonn Greene, but 12 is too high IMO. Maybe he'll be around later in the late 1st early 2nd.

I suspect that we'll see a huge influx of JRs and RS Soph declaring in the next week.

Denver needs to take the best defensive players on the board in every round and just hope that the rest of our RB's get healthy in the offseason. Pretty much let everyone except Champ, DJ, and maybe Winborn. Everyone else, don't let the door hit ya.:sad2:

Bradford should probably leave early. He's a sure top 5 pick. Has Crabtree announced yet? He's a top 10-15 guy as well. He'd probably be the first WR taken.

A DT and S should be the priority, no doubt. Hard to say what they will do until a new HC is named.

Don´t want to hijack this thread with Bronco talk, but out of the RBs you bolded I think Wells is the only guy who´s guaranteed to be a first round pick. I can see the others falling into the second round ... McCoy is the guy I like the most.

Too late, the thread is pretty well hijacked.

I've not seen enough of McCoy to have an educated opinion, but I've lots of Greene and assuming they stay with the same running game, he'd be perfect for the broncos.

I still say Beanie's nothing more than an above average talent playing behind an excellent O line in a terrible conference. I'd be most displeased if they wasted a rookie contract on that kid - especially after last year, you don't go throwing tens of millions of dollars at a running back with a history of injury problems.

If he's there at whatever pick we've got, I want Rey Maualuga.

Jeremy Maclin is also officially on the list of turning pro

So, will Maclin be anything more than a Peter Warrick clone? Ted Ginn, who also compares to Maclin started to break out this year.

Then again maybe he's the next Steve Smith. Either way, I'm going to guess that someone falls in love with him through the combine and workouts and drafts him too high.

I'd rather have Taylor Mays than Maualuga.

Not me. I would love to see Maualuga in Denver. The guy is a freek. He's exactly the kind of guy that the Denver defense needs. Somebody who can find the ball and arrive there in a bad mood.

I can see Katoa being like that for us if he gets his grades up to par and keeps that temper on the field only.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Mizzou's offense next year. No Daniel, Coffman and Maclin won't be good.

I think they'll go back to the 7-5 Pinkel teams we've known since before Daniel came along.

They do have a couple good QB's on board, one being Blaine Gabbart, but I would guess they would be pretty raw next year. I think that offense and team takes a huge step down next year.

You can't blame the kids for leaving early... I would. You never know what can happen to you if you stay, so you might as well get what you can. Look at Roby, as a Buffs fan, I was stoked he stayed...but he would have been drafted if he had gone early.

And then there´s a pretty good chance you won´t be able to negotiate your own contract as a rookie in the NFL anymore fairly soon.

With Maclin and Freeman gone, my Holiday draft wish list is now down to Suh at Nebraska. :smile2:
