Rivals 2009 Preseason Rankings

If we stay healthy I don't see any reason that we don't finish in the top 25. I'm glad to see that people can look past a bad season and realize we have to potential to be a really good team in 09.

This is the second preseason poll which has ranked Oklahoma State 10th. Am I the only one, or is this a bit high?

The Cowboys still have to play UT, OU (in Norman), and Texas Tech, as well as Missouri and CU in conference. Sets up well with all but OU at home, but still .....

Robinson and Bryant will be back. Those two will probably get better. Just the same, I agree, #10 seems a little on the high side. #16-18 would seem more appropriate to me.

Until Oklahoma State gets their defense better, they won't finish in the top 10.

They will have an explosive offense again -- but without a better defense they aren't going to be any world beaters.

it's a beauty contest at this point. rankings based in returning "skill" position players, especially QB.

anyone else notice that according to the article Houston Nutt "changed the culture" at Ole Miss in just one year.....:wtf:

:smile2:

Notre Dame #23, give me a break, the Catholic church owns the media.

This truly is remarkable. We joke all the time about how ND gets consideration even though it's completely undeserved. But this proves it. ND hasn't done jack squat for the last three years, and now they're a pre-season #23?

On the bright side, seeing the epic meltdown that is sure to occur after they lose to Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, et. al will be entertaining once again.

We're not that far behind ND and we haven't done too much in the last few years either. Just sayin...

We don't know how far we are behind them. We're just in 'others receiving consideration'. That could mean anything. ND actually got themselves enough votes for a preseason ranking. Surprising? No. Absurd? absolutely.

I think it's more based on all the potential talent that ND has recruited in the past couple of years, combined with the easy schedule they play next year. They'll win at least 8 games next year, although I'd love to be wrong on that one. :smile2:

pshhh. How many people said they'd win 10 games this year? There's never been a more over-hyped, over-rated, under-achieving team in the history of college sports. They lost to freaking SYRACUSE for crissakes. They're terrible. Their recruiting rankings are driven by fan subscriptions to the services. A kid who's a 2* recruit to CU is a 4* recruit at ND. It's preposterous, but it's reality. Their recruiting classes haven't been all that great.

Claussen threw for 1,000 yards and 9 TD's against Hawaii... they are back

last 3 years? I would say ND hasn't done jack squat the last twenty years!

I actually think this is a rare case where the hyperbole sports in general might be accurate.

Teams who don´t perform tend to be slagged in other sports in other countries I follow, but the **** sobbering surrounding the perennially underachieving Fighting Irish is fairly unique.
