Maybe not Ole Miss, but does Miami want out?

Take this for what is worth but this thing will not seem to die and the smoke won't go away. Once again there is new chatter about playing Ole Miss in Dallas. However, both Plati and Bohn have directly addressed this and denied it.

There has also been some rumblings that Miami of Ohio wants out of the game. This would make more sense. They are already playing Northwestern, Boise State and Cinncinati. They have already collected their check for coming to Colorado.

Therefore we are looking for other alternatives, hence a neutral site game in one of our recruiting hot beds that will certainly get TV coverage and cost less than a straight road trip.

Of course Bohn and Plati are going to flat out deny the rumors. They have to until the deal is finalized. There is no such thing as almost pregnant.

If the Miami game were to change, I would want another home game against Tennessee Technical School for the Blind, not against an SEC team.

I have a hard time believing Miami, OH wants out of a home date. That is, unless, they think they can get somebody else in there without as big of a guaranteed buyout.

If this be the case, then we should definitely look at scheduling a total cupcake. And I mean a TOTAL cupcake, like Northern Colorado or Weber State.

I really could care less if we play Ohio... although if we get a home game instead (which we damn well should), the awesomeness of having pissed of CSU and maybe ended the series all for a home game in 2009 that we didn't end up "needing" makes me all warm inside.

You pu**ies! Man up. I hope the actual team isn't as chicken **** as you all. "Oh no, not the big bad SEC. wahhh wahh." Screw that. Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime. Should be the attitude from the AD down to the guy selling sodas at the games. And especially from the fans. Ole Miss better strap it on. These Buffs will show them what smashmouth BXII football is all about.

GO BUFFS!!!

F all you **ssy a** wannabe fair weather, rather schedule ala KSjU than play a BCS contender, pretenders. Check the dryer, you panties are finished.

i am completely with this, only if we get a return visit though. A one and one, and I am on board.

This was certainly my attitude from 1988-2003

However, times are different my friend. Victories in 2009 are HUGE. Miami (OH) is probably our easiest game on the schedule - if we replace it with something, we need to get a patsy in here for that week. Why? Because the schedule gets brutal right after that (@ West Virginia, @ Texas). Plus, our future schedules are tough - 2009 is too big a year for this program's future to go swinging at anyone, anytime, anywhere - let's get so 'Mo going first.

Where are you hearing these rumblings? What is the source?

It is a little late to cancel but I think it would be a good thing for the Buffs especially if they could get another team to come to boulder on that Date...

Once bitten, twice shy. That is a fearful attitude. Why not play the game and find a reason to win rather than search for excuses why we can't lose?

The landscape of college football has completely changed. It is a race to six victories and bowl eligibility. Once bowl eligible, the bowl matters little until you get to the BCS. So, regardless of your OOC schedule, if you run the table in the Big XII, you obviously get a BCS birth. If you go through the entire season undefeated out of the Big XII, you will probably play for that stupid crystal egg.

Fair question. There has been a lot chatter in different places (different boards, Ole Miss people, Platitudes, etc). Just because we are not going to play Ole Miss on the road or in Dallas, which is essentially Plati said, doesn't mean the Miami game might not change. The smoke just seems to be flaring up again and again and I am beginning to think there is some fire at some level. I am just throwing the question out there.

frankly I always hated the thought that we agreed to a home and home with a non-BCS school.

Excellent points. I know my attitude is old fashioned, I just hate to see what the game has become. IMO, college basketball still gets it right with March Madness. However, the BcS has turned cfb into a farce. You're right of course about the race to six. Bill "the Baker" Snydley made a career off of serving up cream puffs. The name calling was all in good fun, but honestly, I hope we don't have to stoop to the level of KjSU to get back to the promised land.

Actually, Air force might be a great idea, because we could travel to Air force this year (since it was a road game anyway) and get them to come to Boulder at a future date. If I'm not mistaken that's what's kept the series from being restarted already, that we couldn't get down to Colo. springs any time soon.

Air Force pulled out of those negotiations. Don't know why but it wasn't us.

People like you should never be allowed to criticize the Buffs' W-L record when you go begging for such a brutal non-conference schedule.

I used to be gung ho about playing a tough schedule thinking that it made you a tougher team and kids wanted to be apart of that. But the reality is you can't play a tough schedule if you don't have the players to compete with. And it's been some time that the Buffs have had the horses to run against a very competitive schedule. Right now, all I want is good news and wins accomplish this. So if that means a season or two of nothing but San Diego States so be it. Actually this can be accomplished by playing 4 low level BCS schools (Indiana's, Syracuse's, and Duke's of the world) and not have it look so bad. But then again, the schedule is put in place years ahead of time so tough schedules may be the norm until the end of time.

It was an excellent move to drop LSU

Maybe we can play Fresno State some more. Can't get enough of those Bulldogs.
