Recruiting Luncheon

It was a lot of fun. Ryan Miller talked, he said he's full go and told everyone to "stop worrying about him" He said I dont care if you laugh, but we'll win a National championship. He seems like a great kid that's very well spoken.

Mac spoke, he was awesome, as usual.

Hawk was fired up today, he made me pumped.

Videos-The four that impressed me the most...
Kasa-he will be a 3 1/2 year started IMO
Nuckols-Manchild
Handler-This guy is a mauler, he never quit on a play and was blowing guys up 10 yards out of bounds.
Simmons-He will be our leading receiver for the next 2 years.

Other people there help me out

This is the first recruiting luncheon I've missed in three years.

How was the crowd this year? Did the increased cost keep a few people away?

I LOVE that this sort of talk is coming back. These guys need to believe in themselves, to get a swagger, if they want to be an elite team. Sounds like despite the issues we have had the last few years, Hawk is not letting these guys get down. I love it.

It was at the same place as 2 years ago. It was bigger than 2 years ago, but much smaller than last year

Very glad to hear Ryan is doing great and I love the confidence and excitement! I'm just itching for football season to start. I can't wait for next year!

Darden was also impressive. Everybody kinda forgot about him since he got hurt last year. I think he will be a player.

I also loved the physical stats Hawk put up about CU's players versus the Big XII Champions.

He had the height, weight and years of experience of every starter at each position. (i.e. T, G, QB, etc.) He compared our guys to the other guys. He was trying to illustrate how many of our guys don't measure up at this point and that we are slowly trying to get there.

Did they have Hawk comment on the video of each recruit (like 2 years ago) or did they have a voice over on the recruits by the radio play by play guy (like last year)? Did Hawk take questions from the audience?

Mark Johnson did the voice over. Although they interviewed Kiesau and Greg Brown that talked about the kids at their positions a little bit.

Hawk did take questions from the audience. Difficult to tell if they were planted. That is when the announced the medical redshirts of Miller and MTM.

I love mark johnson's passion but he needs to take it down a level, he is LOUD.

I loved the luncheon, as I have the past 3 years! Coach Mac still gives me chills 15 years later; Hawk was fired up, the players are believing in themselves finally...as evidenced by Ryan Miller. Bringing in big-time talent like Nick Kasa, Edward Nuckols, Darden, Andre Simmons...I AM SO READY TO KICK SOME LAMB *$$!!!!!

That game seems so far away. I really want to see these guys on the field NOW!

So if MTM still isn't 100% by the start of the season, can we still RS him?

Yes, a medical redshirt doesn't count against any of your 5 to play 4 years. So MTM has 5 to play 4 still. If MTM couldn't play ALL season due to perhaps a complication from this injury or a new injury, he could apply for a 2nd medial redshirt year, which is sometimes awarded.

Miller has 4 to play 3, as he never red-shirted.

It was funny that Hawk called out the crowd on not reading. I'd raise my hand, but I guess he doesn't read Wheel of Time...

I was under the impression that the medical redshirt is used as the player's redshirt.

So, if you redshirt as a freshman then you get injured in your third game as a RFR, you can receive a med RS? But if you don't redshirt as a freshman and then you get injured as a soph you receive a medRS [like Miller, MTM] your redshirt is used up? But you can get another medRS?

Just watched the luncheon video and I am fired up!
I luv having coach Mac a part of this university!

I don't think that's quite right. When you get a medical RS, it just turns the year you played a little bit but were injured into a redshirt year. Miller now has 3 years to play 3 and MTM has 4 to play 4.

Me, too.

Question for anyone at the luncheon. I know some folks had coaches at their tables, but I also know there were some player parents and also new recruits (now commits) parents there. Did anyone meet them?
