Who would you rather have coach the current talent now? The sequel

I don't know. Fairbanks is a established coach both on the college and NFL level. But Skippy can recruit his ass off. Just don't ask hiim how many kids you need to have on the field at once. :smile2:

Chuck Fairbanks or Rick Neuheisel

Be honest:smile2:

Firing Fairbanks led to Coach Mac. Firing Neuheisel led to Barnett. Advantage Fairbanks

OTOH, there are no annoying assholes running around here calling themselves NReuheisel. Advantage Neuheisel.

So, based on all the evidence, I will go with choice c:

Anybody but either of those ****ing dumbass mother****ers....

Ditka.

In all seriousness, my answer would be Ricky. For all his faults, he didn't purposefully destroy the athletic department. Many of you are too young to remember how much damage Fairbanks did to this school. Not just the football team. Not just the Athletic Department - the whole school. He was an unmitigated disaster.

rick... besides his greediness he was an OK coach... couldn't get the monsters on the line of scrimmage to come here, but was ok with the skilled players... his game day coaching was decent.

fairbanks was, I'll go with sack on this, an unmitigated disaster...

The lead singer from "Autograph" (Please Sign In) or Emmanuel Lewis?

Alright this thread officially sucks now....but I have another one to consider.

At the time that Mac stepped down and Ricky boy was hired, we had one Bob Simmons on staff that was also up for the job. Feeling a little jilted that a young QB coach was hired over him, he bolted for the orange cowboy of OSU.

Now hindsight is 20/20, so who would have been the better hire. Simmons was rather pedestrian in his tenure with OSU, but do you think he would have done a better job if he had stayed on at CU as our HC? Would the program at least have been better off had he been hired over RN?

I was enamored with RN when he was hired and thought he was the better choice at the time. Young, cocky and a supposed offense genius, he seemed a good choice and even had the backing of Mac, if I remember correctly. However, after it was all said and done I often wondered, what if Simmons had gotten the nod....

my memory says that mac endorsed simmons. anyone remember for sure?

I remember the Coach Simmons deal. When he wasn't hired, Jesse Jackson arrived on campus to protest the decision with our administration.

I personally remember really wanting Barnett to be CU's next head coach. I supported Barnett during the dark years, too--or at least until the 70-3 debacle.

so any way, back to topic:

Zack Braff or Puck from Real World San Francisco?

I have to go with Skip on this one. He lacked the polish of a skilled, veteran head coach. He made dumb mistakes. He could still recruit. He's a better coach than Fairbanks was. I have not idea as to wether we would have ended up like UW has...

I could have it wrong. I was in school then so admittedly many of my memories of that time are a little hazy.

I am going to rep you for the Puck reference, but still can't decide if it should be pos or neg.

So much for my attempt to hijack ....

Chester from Gunsmoke or Col. Klink?

he was a ****ing drunk while he was there and worthless piece of **** as a coach. drank the whole time, and what I have heard was usually drunk before kickoff and drank on the sidelines during the games. treated the players like crap too. his one year there was one year too many imo.....

He was a drunk? I thought he just had a capillary problem.

Another nice guy from Miami's program.

He was only at Miami for 4 years which was plenty long enough to ruin Tom Osborne's 10 year journey to his first mNC game and loss.

Thats perfect in my mind. :smile2:
