Here are some early lists from both the A&M and UT rivals sites:

http://tamu.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=2142&Year=2010

http://texas.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=2107&Year=2010

Below are players that we have offered, expressed interest in, or have expressed interest in CU at some point (A&M rank, UT rank):

Reggie Wilson (2, 3)
Ahmad Dixon (16, 5)
Adam Shead (36, 34)
Nehemiah Hicks (70, 70)
Nate Askew (78, 79)
Dylan Klare (79, NR)
Matt Brown (85, NR)

Supposed to be a deep year in state for OL in Texas, not sure about other positions. Also, three teams in the DFW area that look loaded are Dallas Skyline, DeSoto, and Fort Worth Dunbar.

Looking around, it also appears DL is pretty deep this year as well. Would be nice to land another DT like Bonsu!

If we could get to a point where we land 5 kids from texas each year, that would be real good.

Reggie Wilson won't go out of state. He will stay close to his family in Tejas.

Oh yeah, some rumors that he may have committed to Texas this weekend. I was just showing some of the early offers or interest we have shown.

What's your take for 2010 recruiting? We have a limited amount of schollies 13-15 and would you rather get them early this year or wait and see approach?

When it's all said and done, it will not be that limited IMO. We'll sign around 20, so pretty similar to this year.

I trust the staff with the approach they take, especially with the number of kids that take visits even after they "commit" to a school. That said, an early commit from Austin Hinder (wants to decide before his senior season begins, although we are fighting an uphill battle here) would really get the ball rolling for a good class.

They had "junior" day on Saturday.... I'l poke around and see what I can find for verbal commits. What I heard last week, about 18 recruits were visiting yesterday, and 10-12 were expected to give verbals....

Hinder will sign with Cal before the season commences. When he sees the remarkable progress the Buffs make this season--particularly on offense--he'll switch his verbal to CU.

I'm seldom right about these things. Maybe he'll just verbal to CU early.

EDIT: Amazing we could turn this thread to the topic of Hinder.

We'll do the same thing we did last season. Offer the best, and if you don't get any bites, hope for a good season to sway them. If that doesn't happen, just refer to our 2009 class.

Hawk needs a bowl game.

Star-Telegram has a link, Texas received their 1st 3 verbals for 2010, but when I try to open the story.... page not found and it keeps you right there....

They're up to eight right now, might have ten by the end of the week.

10 verbals now. Maybe 3-4 more by the end of the week.:wow:

here they are

Colt's brother on the list, not surprised.

So after UT's second junior day, they are up to 19 commits. Gives us a chance to start weeding through players that we have a realistic shot at. We should be see a focus on WRs in the state of Texas again in 2010 because there are quite a few talented guys and California does not seem as deep at that position this year.

Gonna be interesting to see how Denver Johnson helps with Texas recruiting. I'm hoping he can help some in the Houston area, we haven't been able to do much in that area in quite a while.

Houston wont be an easy place to recruit as it once was with HC Kevin Sumlin going 8-5 his 1st year as HC with 6-2 conference record. He was a heck of a recruiter for OU in Texas, and I doubt much has changed with that.

An update with some new offers added to list. As with all early lists, these will change quite a bit, but here are some names of players that we have an interest in (not all of these players have offers from us):

A&M rivals site top 125:

http://tamu.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=2142&Year=2010

UT rivals site top 100:

http://texas.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?ra_key=2107&Year=2010

Player (A&M rank, UT rank)
Adam Shead (56, 39)
Nate Askew (39, 45)
Holmes Onwukaife (40, 47)
Nehemiah Hicks (50, 51)
Justin Gilbert (61, 55)
Torrea Peterson (66, 58)
Matt Brown (96, NR)
Jacob Morgan (103, NR)
Jeremiah Edwards (116, NR)
Chris Adcock (117, NR)
Dylan Klare (118, NR)

One player to keep an eye is Kris Catlin, a LB from the same school as Nate Askew. Starting to get quite a bit of attention, wouldn't be surprised if he eventually gets an offer.

Hopefully, we can get some of these players that are just below the elite level of Texas players.

Now has an offer.

We recently offered Marcus Mallett as well. Currently a TCU commit, but you never know:

Also offered Jackson Richards out of the powerhouse program Southlake Carroll. Another player who is committed to another school, but you never know what can happen late in the process:

Seems to be a bigger emphasis on Texas recruiting this year. I'm thinking Denver Johnson has something to do with that. Hopefully it pays off.

Orangebloods updated their 2010 state rankings today. A look at where some of the Buffs targets stack up:

http://texas.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=945383

8. Corey Nelson
12. DeAndrew White
27. Nate Askew
42. James Haynes
47. Holmes Onwukaife
65. Justin Gilbert
73. Torrea Peterson
79. Chris Hawkins

What's your thoughts on the texas talent we are looking at? Man, those guys just get their pick down there. Would like to see us keep making in-roads and hopefully johnson can help in that area.

Really like White, Onwukaife, and Peterson. Also like Kris Catlin, the LB out of San Antonio. Not sure what our chances with any of the guys really are, but White is planning on announcing at the Army All-American game next January, so we got some time to get in his ear. Onwukaife seems like the hybrid DE/OLB we have been looking at over the last couple years. Peterson is just a big body that would help add depth at DT.

It seems we're branching out from DFW to San Antonio and back into Houston. Really glad to see us going after some guys in Houston again.
