CU Pro timing Day

It's today

Hopefully these guys can have great days so they can get a look from the league.

What in the hell does the long jump have to do with how you will do in the pros? Not once have I ever seen a player jump like that, with no running start. Other drills I could see translate to some scenario on the field, but not that one, wast of time.

On topic, good for all of them. I think whoever steals Walters will walk away with a solid person as well as a great player (hopefully he stays healthy)

Somewhat like the vertical jump, it is used to measure explosiveness. Particularly for Lineman, it can be a good indicator as to how effectively they can explode off of the ball.

I think long jump is a measurable way of showing the explosiveness in the lower body.

Was the Dominique Brooks entry about the same guy who used to play for the Buffs?

:wow: I guess it is him. If Brad Jones' 40 time he ran at the pro day(4.54) is legit, it means he ran it faster than any LB at the combine...including Aaron Curry. Curry could easily go in the top 5 in the draft. Good for Jones:thumbsup:

Anyone else feel bad for the Rabid Goldfish... he went from a 2nd-4th round pick if he came out as a Jr, and all of sudden he's not even mentioned?

» George Hypolite, DL: At 6-0 7/8, 299, he ran the 40 in 5.05 and 5.04, had a 32-inch vertical jump, 8-foot, 10-inch long jump, ran 4.72 in the short shuttle, 7.66 in the three-cone drill and did 32 reps in the bench press.

B. Jones ran in the 4.55-4.6 range today, that's going to help his stock. The top rated LB in the years draft, Aaron Curry of Wake Forrest ran a combine best 4.56 in Indy.

Hypo had a better junior year than his senior year, sam as nic. Don't know why the drop off in 08 but it would shock me if george isn't on a NFL roster.

I would guess the dropoff had a lot to do with losing Dizon.

I think that height is going to hurt Hypo.

He was 6-2 when he came to cu and is now 6-0. Jon major was 6-4 and he comes to cu and he's now 6-2.

I think you need to speak with the boulder water department and see what is wrong with our water supply.

Our players are shrinking..:smile2:

Take solace in the fact that our players are not the only guys that shrink this time of year. I always get a kick out of how some players end up measuring/timing.

I was listening to national radio about the Indy combine and the concensus was that the turf made times really, really slow. If that's the case (and if you look at the times for pretty much everyone, it is) you should see much faster times from pretty much every position as they host their pro days around the nation.

Usually the weight is 5-10 lbs either way but the height of the players is funny. You never see a guy taller than what he was in college. When the buffs spring roster comes out it will be different from what's there now, weight etc.. but the way there height changes is funny...

Hypo and Nicholas like the rest of the defense this year got hurt by the fact that the offense could not control the ball. With all the injuries and other problems the O had way to many 3 and outs. The D got worn down early and stayed that way all year.

I think that Hypo has a very good chance as either a DT in a traditional 4-3 or as an end in a 3-4. He doesn't have the raw bulk to hold up as a nose in the 3-4 or the height to play end in a 4-3. What will help him is that he is athletic and has very good lateral mobility for a big guy.

Nicolas on the other hand got better every year as a plugger in the middle and could develop into a 3-4 nose if he can get his weight up another 15lbs or so.

I think Brad Jones athletic ability gets him a look in someones camp (or two) but he just doesn't seem to make plays. Mo Lucas is on the edge of maybe getting a look but he is wrong size, wrong speed. Not big enough to be a NFL lineman, not athletic enough to be a LB and again never really stood out in the college game.

Walters could get a serious look because of his smarts (play both safety positions well) and his character as well as special teams willingness. Negatives are his athleticism for the position and his injury history. I hope he gets a shot, safety is a position where a lot of low picks and FAs are making a living in the league.

Sanders lacks athleticism and may be seen as strictly a center but his wide body may appeal to some teams that like BIG O-linemen. His experience and durability are also plusses.

This may be the last year for a while that CU's timing day flies under the radar. Next year I think Mohler draws a crowd plus some other seniors who may be posed for big years like Cha'pelle Brown, Geer, Devenny. The year after that we have some athletes showing up.
