We have a pretty favorable schedule (a lot better than the last few years), with the top dogs in the north in Folsom. I think we have a good chance at going 4-2 or 5-1 at home this season, and a decent chance at 6-0. Keep in mind Hawk has actually had some nice home wins in his short tenure, it's the road that has really hurt him so far. Oh and this poll is assuming we don't schedule another home game if Miami drops out. Thoughts?

CSU: Always a threat to the buffs, but talent, experience and home field should point to another CU win.

Wyoming: New coach in a bad program. Could be a scary game if buffs aren't ready as Cowboys will probably be ready to play.

Kansas: Probably the north favorite, Reesing probably the best QB in the north. Tough game, but not impossible. Buffs will be looking to snap 3 game skid to Hawks, all of which were winnable.

Mizzou: The Tigers have embarrased the buffs similar to '05 Big 12 championship the last couple years. Mizzou loses their stars that lit up the north the last couple years and they have a new OC. Game is homecoming and on Halloween, should be a fired up crowd for a buffs payback.

Texas A&M: Buffs should have beat them in College Station last season. A&M is not that good, very winnable game for buffs IMO.

Nebraska: Buffs lost a heartbreaker after playing their hearts out against NU last year. I expect the buffs to be motivated for this game (like it's hard to get up for it anyway). NU breaking in new QB, but will likely have a season under his belt when he plays us.

I went with 5-1.

CSU: The news of Brewer being out is pretty big. Their front seven is going to have issues. I think we win comfortably (14-17 points).

Wyoming: No other team in the country had the QB issues that Wyoming had last season. I think they had four different guys that saw significant playing time (as in starts) last season. They lose some guys off of a pretty decent defense as well. I expect this to be a blowout.

Kansas: For me, this is the swing game for the season. If we can win this one, we got a chance to do some serious damage in the conference. If we lose, the season is not a failure, but it will show that we're not quite ready to compete for the North. A lot is going to depend on how well our offense is playing. Kansas will have issues on the front seven, but they still have Reesing/Briscoe so they will still be able to score points. Leaning toward a win here.

Missouri: As Leash said, this team has absolutely whooped us the last couple years. They also lose a lot from those teams. Still think we lose this game for some reason.

Texas A&M: This team is just not very good. I think they're a good bet to be last in the South next year. If our offense plays better in the red zone and our defense doesn't take the third quarter off, we likely win that game last season. I expect this to be a comfortable win.

Nebraska: This could very well decide the North. Both teams have questions at QB, but they may be answered by November. I think we win a close one here.

Colorado State: W
Wyoming: W
Kansas: L
Missouri: W/L
Texas A&M: W
Nebraska: W

My safe guess would be 4-2

I think odds are we will get a loss against either Mizzou, Neb, or Kansas. I'll take a 5-1 home record.

I said 5-1, but looking at the schedule again, I'm not sure who we're going to lose to. The Missouri squad that owned us for two years is gone - completely. Kansas has squeaked by us twice in the same span, and we are really due vs. Reesing. Nebraska has a date with karma when they come here next year, and karma is a brooding, menstrating bitch who hates losing by unlikely FGs. If we lose, it's probably against Reesing, who has had our number.

In general, because of our D-Line situation, I think we will struggle the most against teams that have great offensive lines and who run the ball well (Texas, Oklahoma State, West Virginia) - and all of those are road games.

I am so jacked for this season I can't sit still.

There's no reason, with the talent we have been told we have on this team, that we shouldn't win every home game this year. There's not a single team on the schedule that can come in and out-talent us.

We better not ****ing lose to ****ing kanas and ****ing misery again. **** those ****ing ****ers.

I went with 4 - 2
I still think QB is going to be our biggest concern. If Cody starts you can expect erratic play. I think that's the only position along with WR that we can't match up with other Big 12 visitors. Until Hawkins can prove he can beat KU and MU, I can't assume he is goning to beat them - even if he pumps 10 wins - which I hope he can accomplish.

I fully expect 300 yards of rushing against KU... there is NO. ****ing. WAY. those bastards should stop us this year.

So don't worry about cody

the divisional title goes through Folsom Field. If we can't at least contend this year (with KU, MU, and NU at home)....it's time to re-assess.

i think the North team that moves to the top is the one that can D up. right now, i'd say that's KU with NU and CU in the "maybe" category.

I will throw in the caveat that I don't believe we'll go 6-0 if Cody is the starter. As much as I like the guy, he simply isn't the guy to bring us to the next level.

We should expect to beat Kansas, the last three years the game could have gone our way just as much as it went Kansas' way. Mizzou not so much, they have dominated us the last couple years, but like I said, they are basically starting from scratch.

Oh and if, thats a BIG IF all our WR's qualify, you will see great improvement from our WR's. I think our WR's can be among the top WR group in the big 12 if Simmons, Simas qualify to go along with Smith.

Some of Hawks big home wins. TT '06, OU '07, NU '07, WVU '08.

Some of Hawks ugly home losses MSU '06, KSU '06 Mizzou '07, UT '08.

Again, Cody is not an elite QB, but he can bring us to the level as a contender in the north and be what Kansas has been the last couple years if he gets protection up front. Waaaaay too much blame went to Cody last year, when our real problems were on the line.He is not as bad as most people make him out to be. He can and will win with protection. Me personally yes, I think Hansen brings something better to the table, but I do think Cody is better than most think.

I agree that whoever comes up with the D is going to be the team that will win it. KU may beat both of us and still come out the loser here since they have UT, OU, and at TT again this season. I hesitate to give anyone the edge on defense since KU lost all 3 of their starting LBers who have been starting the past 2 years. CU loses it's defensive line and Walters, who was a hell of a playmaker in your secondary. NU loses 2 from its dline and a CB. All have spots to fill and at this point I'd say they're all pretty even. The one thing I think we can agree on is that Mizzery's horrible defense will get worse with the loss of Sulak, Hood, Moore, and Brown. This should give teams the edge against them even if Daulton is the next coming of Jesus at QB.

I think they are the best team in the North, and Mangino can flat out coach. Their schedule vs the South is absolutely brutal, but I am looking forward to seeing them ream the Huskers a new one in Lawrence.

BLowout.... i suppose the last blowout was in 07 against Miami of OH.... I do think that if we do Beat them by 28+ it will have a HUGE HUGE efect on our teams mindset. We need to be ready to Roll over the easier teams.

6-0... because why the hell not? Every game at home is winnable this season imo. CSU, Wyoming, and A&M should be wins going away. The other 3 will be tossups, but we're due against Mizzou and KU. Honestly the toughest game we may have at home will be the fuskers. Like someone already said the path to the North title goes through Folsom next season.

Oh bull $hit, they will be starting a new QB, and don't have the supporting cast to make up for it. I would worry about KU and MU.

I wouldn't say bull****. That new QB the fuskers have will have a whole season under his belt when he faces us. CU could have beaten KU the last 3 years, Mizzou will take a huge step down. KU and Nu will both be tough. But KU is not as good as you're making them out to be, and NU is better than what you're making them out to be.

We should have won in Lincoln last year, but that's shoulda, woulda, coulda. QB is such an important part of a team, and KU has a much better one, and a better coach too.

Yes you "shoulda" won last year if getting bascially out performed in every conceivable category constitutes "shoulda".

Keep grasping..the straws are almost in reach.

What does that have to do with what I said? The Big 12 north will be a toss up between KU, Nu, CU and maybe Mizzou. Those 4 teams are all about equal IMO with each having an advantage in different categories, but none really night and day better than the others. The nice thing is the north goes through Boulder.

Funny, Cu outgained the fuskers in passing, and a midget QB had a career day against the fuskers. CU also had the lead the entire game until less than two minutes to go in the game. Ya the fuskers really dominated the buffs! Oh ya forgot to add Little Bo Peeps decision to do a fake FG and Jimmy Smith read and picked for a TD. You're a moron if for one second you think NU dominated that game. I bet you were about to **** your pants when we sacked you on third to try the long FG, I also bet you were ****ting yourself when cu went up 14-0 and throughout the game when the fuskers trailed for 99% of that game. ****ing Nebraska fans are such a joke!
