Spring Practice - Week One Unit-by-Unit Review ...

Is it time to start really worrying about the D-Line? Every other spot seems to be very strong other than D-Line. Pericak as a DT makes no sense to me whatsoever. Can somebody give me an update on his weight? He played linebacker at around 230. I have a real hard time envisioning him as a 285 lb DT.

START? I have been worried about the '09 D-line before the '08 season even started.

Yeah - D-Line sounds worrisome. I like Cunningham, but unless Kasa shows up and has a enormous impact (prolly not likely as a true-fresh), then this group could be a problem. We are going to need to generate pressure from our LB's.

cubuffs.com states he moved to DT from TE last fall, never a mention about DE. I agree his athleticism would suggest DE as a better fit.

His weight on cu.com's roster is listed at 265. I heard a report that he was 280.

I think we can expect to see some movement around. If we play Beatty at one end (or a 3-4), then there's really only one DE position open and Herrod has looked very good there when healthy. Then you have Obi and I think there's no chance Kasa redshirts this fall.

So DT may just be the bigger need at this point, especially with Cunningham out hurt. Cunningham and Goree project as the likely starters, but it seems Bandison will be going to a rotation that is 2 deep if he can.

MontanaBuff,
If I can put in a request, see if you can find out more about the walk on kickers.

I put everything I could find into a thread, but it's not much. If one of them is a punter, it's curious that we've got Darrell Scott practicing punting. But there is much I don't understand ...

There are no other kickers showing up on either the spring roster or the pre-spring depth chart, so if there is another punter practicing, I haven't heard about him.

Anyone else know about other punters/kickers this spring?

According to Kyle Ringo, one of the two walk-ons punts and kicks, the other primarily kicks.

If they can get Pericak up to 280 then they may be OK. I know he has a big frame, but he's also a tall kid, which still seems like he should be at DE to me.

Montana, quick question for you: Have you been going to the practices or is your write up a compilation of the articles and reports that have been posted?

The 700-mile commute would be a killer, so every day I visit the websites for AllBuffs, Daily Camera, CUBuffs, Scout, Rivals, Denver Post, InDenverTimes, Sporting News, ESPN, SI.com, CollegeFootballNews, etc., etc., etc. Usually, you can find consensus on at least a few points.

I read 275 somewhere. He looked pretty big in the photos that I saw. I am hoping that all the worrying about the DL this year turns out to be like the worrying about the DBs last year.

Cool that's what I thought, but I didn't know if you had been able to sneak out for a week and been in CO. Keep up the good work. It's nice to get a compilation of all the articles, practice reports, etc in one place.
