My season prediction after spring practices

I was very encouraged with our O-line and RB's yesterday. Still not sure about the QB play, however with good protection and more running, the QB play isn't gonna be as much of an issue as it was last year IMO. Good O-line play and a powerful rushing attack can make an average QB look good. Simas is gonna be a good WR here. Worried about defense, and special teams, and what happens if Mark goes to Oregon?

I am still gonna pick the same results. I think we will be a much improved team and be capable of wearing teams out and keeping Big 12 pass happy teams off the field by grinding it out. All of the big division games are in Boulder and the only game I see very little chance in us winning is Texas.

CSU W 1-0
@ Toledo W 2-0
Wyoming W 3-0
@ West Virginia L 3-1
@ Texas L 3-2
Kansas W 4-2
@ Kansas St L 4-3
Missouri W 5-3
Texas A&M W 6-3
@ Iowa St. W 7-3
@ Oklahoma St. L 7-4
Nebraska W 8-4

If Hawkins is sticking to his guns for 10 wins this year, that might be a stretch as it's way to early to tell. I'm not gong to make any predictions until after the WVU game. As long as the injury bug doesn't get us like last year, there should be signifacant improvement on both sides of the ball. Special Teams (FG's PAT's) is a huge concern to me.

I have a good feeling about the West Virginia game, they have lost a huge amount of talent over the past two years and I think that the style the Buffs will play will take a lot out of them. If we are the 3-0 that we should be coming into the game our players will be pumped and I think the WVU players will already be realizing that they are in for a letdown season.

I agree on Texas. The Buffs do always seem to lose one they shouldn't and KSU is as good a guess as any but I think the letdown is more likely to be Mizzou or Kansas at home. I also think that Okie State is a hard one to predict. They are an improving program under Gundy but need to stay healthy because I don't think they are very deep at a number of positions. With the combination of playing a number of physical teams before us including Texas two weeks earlier and their big battle with OU following we could pick that game up. A lot of how their year goes will be determined by how they come out of their opener against Georgia. If they get beat up physically and on the scoreboard it may be a rough year for them, if they come through fairly healthy and pull of a win they will be tough the rest of the year.

Yep, and I think KSU will be ****ty as **** this year. I just have a bad feeling about it, it's the game we should win that we don't.

One game I feel giddily confident about is Kansas State. They are not going to have a great year and I suspect a total slaughter of them by the Buffs is going to be a confidence builder for our guys.

And that's just a gut feeling, too. I have zero facts to back it up.

:yeahthat: same feeling here. Our boys gots this game! After watching our running game yesterday, I am feeling pretty happy about the coming season. If Simmons gets in and/or our Frosh WR are ready to contribute... WATCH OUT! This offense could go places.

K-State loss, no way, no how....that is one team that sucks. If we lose a game on the road it would be to Iowa State. West Virgina too me is a toss up.......GO BUFFS!!!!!!!

3-9 is my new prediction. Scott can't score a td, smith only 1 catch and that great posession wr mcknight didn't even get a catch. Our defense was getting run on all day and neither team scored a point in the second half.

CU has put the D in dooooooooooooooooooooom...................

Okay, mcknight didn't play but you get the picture, this team will be lucky to 3-4 games, maybe two with cody at qb..........and scott? What a bust, couldn't even score a td.......

:smile2: 8-5 which includes a bowl win

damn, if you are predicting the same # of wins as me, I iwll have to revise mine upward or else lose my "sunshine pumper" credentials...

I think they can win 7 games and then a bowl win.

wv,texas and okie state on the road will be very tough and Kansas, missouri and braska at home will be tough although I think some payback is in order for mizzou.

Cu usually wins one they shouldn't and loses one they shouldn't. 8-5 sounds good to me. It could go higher depending on what they do at home and vice versa. Protect your house and cu will have a great season.

Maybe it's just me, but the WVU game doesn't scare me the way is apprently scares some people here. I know it's a road game, but they lost their best player/QB and I don't htink there's a lot of faith in Morgantown that Stewart is the right coach to replace Rodriguez.

We beat those jokers last year, and conventional wisdom is that the Buffs are better than last year, and WVU should be worse.

I'm more afraid of Kansas and Missouri (Mizzou is not going to drop off as far as people think) than I am of WVU. Plus the Big East stinks...STINKS!

I think we read to much into the spring practice/game......with this team it will start with consistency each week......GO BUFFS!!!!!

8-4, but there are a couple that could go either way. Kanzazz has had our number lately, but I think we turn it around this year. Mizzery lost a lot of talent - is it enough for the Buffs to get past 'em? W Virginny is a real toss-up, but it will be a tough road game. The CU/Okie lite series has been unusual as late - they win in Boulder and we win in Stoolwater; but I think they have enough talent returning to make it tough on the Buffs this time.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think KU is gonna be tougher than Mizzou this year. Mizzou loses almost everybody that made them good and their OC. Now keep in mind, the 8 years that Pinkey has been in Columbia, he has NEVER lost a major assistant except now as OC Christensen goes to WYo. Mizzou will be down and they are our homecoming on Halloween. I like our chances.

KU will be the north favorite and still have Reesing.

NU will be the toughest of the three though, but I think we beat them again in Boulder.

One of Missouri's top recruits, 5* Sheldon Richardson, is apparently taking the JC tour before enrolling. He looked pretty fierce.

I went looking for confirmation of this and found the Huskers teasing the Mizzou fans on their board.

Aside: Does it seem that Husker fans spend an inordinate amount of time posting on other team's boards?
But of course, there's nothing else to do in Nebraska.

I think Kansas will be tough....Mizzu not so much, to many key losses, and we need to win that one. If CU can beat WVU on the road that will make things real interesting for the season. That would be a real confidence builder..............GO BUFFS!!!!!

The key to beating Mizzou next year, as it has been the last three, is to apply constant pressure to their quarterback and get up on the receivers at the line of scrimmage to take them off their routes. The last two years, CU has done the exact opposite of this, rushing three guys and playing zone, with absolutely disastrous results. If they try that same garbage again this year, expecting a different result, they'll get murdered.

A bigger key IMO is the offense actually consistently moving the ball and scoring some points.

12-0 and I refuse to listen to anyone who claims otherwise!

I am parlaying that prediction with my 3 Star Lock of the Week, which predicts that even at 12-0, someone will still be complaining about some aspect of the team!

You got neg-repped for that? Dang... if you were a full member then you could know who it was and exact full revenge!

If we can't stop them, we won't win the game. The defensive gameplan the last two years has directly led to easy scoring for Missouri. Offense wasn't great, but certainly wasn't the difference in the game.

I beg to differ. While the defensive gameplan has been poor, the offense deserves major blame as well.

The offense has not helped out the defense at all over the last couple years. 10 points combined in two games is pathetic and under 200 yards total offense in each game is simply not good enough. A combined 7-33 on third down is pathetic as well.
