Hawkins has a chance to really help in recruiting with this pick IMO. It would be nice to see another guy with Texas connections like Denver Johnson. Anyone got any candidates?

Cedric Cormier has TX ties but was hired as Miami's (Ohio) WR coach.

He would have been a good hire even though he is a former Buff.

Forgot about him. Cue someone saying a former Buff WR with no coaching experience in 3...2...1

I don't know if there is any way to pull this off, but getting Embree on staff would be a ****ing coup.

He does have coaching experience. Was a WR coach at Montana for 2 years. Before that he was a coach at some TX high schools. I am sure he has some good contacts.

Billy Gonzales, UF Gators...no connections with the program and probably looking for an OC position next, but would be an awesome hire in the fantasy world of coaching recruit possibilities...

I'm aware. Someone is bound to say Westbrook or something. Man our history at WR is poor

Cedric Cormier actually would warrant a look IMO if had not taken the job at Miami. As chip mentioned, he has coaching experience.

I'm with Highflyer, doubt we could make it happen, but Embree would actually be my #1 choice. But I highly doubt that happens.

Could Ced leave Miami of OH?

**** you. **** you in the heart for even contemplating that.

So with all the poaching that Oregon has tried/done with CU over coaches and recruits, I was thinking we'll lets go after their WR coach, then I googled who the coach was and laughed my ass off. It was too good not to post.

dear mr bohn
im from kansas city... believe me you can get his ass out of KC if you offer

We should try. **** Miami of Ohio. They canceled our game. Payback is a bitch :smile2:

Not an issue. Remember a couple years ago when we hired a TE coach, who turned around and went to OU about two weeks later? It happens all the time. If we want to get Ced on the staff, we need to go after him. I'd support the hire. He's played the position, has coaching experience and ties to both CU and the state of Texas. That's four for four right there.

who is embree?

:scared2:

In the history of CU football, we've had a lot of good tight ends. The first one that I recall was a guy named Don Hasselbeck. He had two kids who played QB in the NFL. Other guys you might remember are Daniel Graham and Christian Fauria. Right up there with all those guys is John Embree. In fact, before Graham and Fauria, Embree was probably the best TE to ever play at CU.

John Gruden.

He was Oregon's 1st choice for OC, but turned it down. It would be poetic justice if he filled the spot left by Helfrich on the Buffs staff.

Not going to happen, I'm just saying...

So what? We got poached, and new hires get poached all the time. We may not have multiyear contracts and not quite huge program money, but we are a vast upgrade both in prestige and pay from Miami(OH). If he looks like a good qualified fit, go after him!
