Our Offenses #1 Weapon

I really think our offense will have some growing pains this year but this should really really help. I think we're all forgetting about J-Fly, atleast I was. KR/PR:

I didn't forget about him, but he has to be on the field to be a weapon, and he needs to execute his assignments to be on the field. For sure, he's a playmaker if he gets the ball.

Hopefully he can stay healthy this year so he can contribute as a WR this year. He showed last year he has the ability (WVU game). But if our Offense is sputtering atleast we have J-Fly. Just hold onto the ball!!

I am excited to see what he can do when defenses can't gameplan around him as our only receiving threat (i hope).

:yeahthat:

I'm excited for a lot of things to open up if we have a versatile offense. More receiving threats, healthy OL, healthy backfield, multiple QB options. Lots of ifs that still need to come through, but I'm excited nonetheless.

I just think back to what happened in the WVU game as a great example. Play action, 5 or 7 step drop, Jfly blows past the safety who bit on the run, and easy 40 yard TD. WVU figured out what we were doing and didn't let him do that again. Every other team followed suit. For the rest of the ENTIRE season. Must have been awfully frustrating. Cause I sure was frustrated.

I will believe it when I see it. For all the good plays he makes, he'll make just as many bad ones. Hope he can stay healthy, and that partly depends on him being much smarter as a returner.

Most overrated CU wide receiver evar.

I would be a rich muther ****er retired if I had a dollar for everytime you have said something negative about CU and it's players. Why don't you say something like, he has a lot of work to do, instead of attacking him when he is only halfway through his career at CU.

Sorry to ruffle your feathers, Unleash.

In my opinion, he's incredibly overrated.

Josh Smith had an awful lot of total yards last year for a guy who is the most overrated wr in CU history, especially with two shoulders that both needed surgery.

Tyler Littlehales comes to mind...so much potential, so little heart.:sad2:

Bingo.

There was a kid who had the world at his feet and threw it all away. Million dollar physique and a ten cent mind.

In all seriousness, Smith can hardly be considered overrated. He was the third most hyped WR in a class that had Marques Simas and Kendrick Celestine. The fact that he's turned into a two year starter is remarkable in itself. He was certainly not the most touted member of his WR class.

I would say Smith is inconsistent as a WR and overrated in the minds of what most CU fans think of him.. He can disappear during games.

He's a good player, but not All-America Crabtree type..

A lot of things combine to make Crabtree - his talent, a QB that can throw a ton, and the system. We have whoen none of that, yet.

1276 yards (25.5 yd average) w/ one TD...most KR yards in FBS (easy to do when the D allows almost 30 pts per game). I'll take 25 yds a return any day, can't argue that impact!

you do know he had two separated shoulders the majority of last year, right? nah, you probably didn't know that. you do know he was receiving painful cortisone injections every friday, to the point he was having trouble even raising his arms, right? nah, you probably didn't know that either.

with today's kickoff rules, 25 avg is not what it used to be. Josh was 35th in the nation; though, you are right, that 4.17 per game is pretty gaudy. most on the list of 100. that said, i think Josh will have a good year for us.

Smith averaged 45 yards receiving per game in 2007, with zero touchdowns, and a bit over 30 yards receiving per game in 2008, to go along with 3 TD's.

Amongst his Big 12 brethren in 2008, he was not amongst the conference's top 12 receivers. (Admittedly, that figure is skewed by the offensive problems CU has had over his career)

Over his brief 22 game career at CU he has 838 receiving yards and 3 TD's.

You can say he has had separated shoulders, ruptured kidney, etc. Fact is, for the hype he has received by CU fans, he is overrated as a WR.
