Wyoming game

I still think we win this one, but I think it will be much tougher then people are leading on. As most know some of Wyoming's coaching staff including the HC coached against CU at Mizzou. We all know how that ended. I think they know how to beat us. Also, Wyo's roster is full of Coloradoans that likely will play with a chip on their shoulders for CU passing on them. I see this as more of a trap game then Toledo. Thoughts?

This depends more on Colorado than Wyo in my opinion. Wyo is way down right now, and while Dave Christensen orchestrated the offense that whipped our butts the last few years, he also did it with the finest offensive unit in the entire 100+ year history of Mizzou football. Wyoming's offensive players basically consist of 11 guys with a pulse at this time. Plus the offense he runs needs the right personal to run it, which Wyoming definitely is not currently built for. If CU shows the improvement we are all expecting, this should be pretty much a walk in the park, 28-7, 35-10 type game. If CU hasn't improved, every game is going to be tough.

Not worried, Wyoming is big rivals with CSU, and CSU usually pounds them. Also, the last time we faced a Dave Christensen offense without Booger, we drilled them. Toledo scares the crap out of me out of any of our OOC games, even more than WVU. 3 days of preperation for a road game.:wow:

Everything I am reading about Wyoming is stating that they have a few decent players on Offense and will be improved from last season; However, their defense would need some kind of miracle to keep them remotely competitive. Also, with the introduction of the spread there will be growing pains, especially early in the season.

I see Wyoming as the closest to a "gimme" game as CU has on the schedule. With no quarterback to run the offense, Wyoming will struggle (see: Colorado, 2006). The Cowboys will be coming off a beat down by Texas, and will have little momentum going their way.

Concur: if we have to worry about Wyoming, then we're in for another 2-10 season. I'm much more concerned about Toledo. The Rockets can score, and, with all of the Buffs' energy focused on CSU, a short week makes for an easy "excuse" in a season when there aren't supposed to be any.

(BTW: anyone else going to the Toledo game? I doubt we'll have many Buff fans there, but I would like to meet up with anyone else who is making the trip)

Hmmm I might actually try to make this my first Buffs road game. Possibly hit Cedar Point up on the way

I agree this game is a concern. Wyo has everything to gain and nothing to lose.

The spread that Christenson runs will not take a lot of time to implement, contrary to opinion here.

How well will CU defend against the spread is the question. The Wyo qb was highly rated coming out of hs and is pretty mobile.

Their defense is the achilles heell. We havn't been an offensive juggernaut for sometime.

Not a game to overlook by any means.

Wyoming and Toledo are both must wins. It is time for CU to be steamrolling this sort of team again. Really shouldn't be close.

Obviously I hope the staff and players don't have that same mentality but as a fan these games have to be gimmes. That's why teams schedule them. Because they are supposed to be blowouts to help your team get firing on all cylinders before in conference play.

Teh awesomeness. Great place, but it's a little farther down the road from Toledo, so technically it won't be "on the way".

Are we seriously debating the difficulty of a game vs Wyoming? We're in the Big12 for f***s sake and have Texas, OSU, and Nebraska on our schedule.

We better f-ing destroy Wyoming. If we lose this game the season is f***ed and Hawk is gone.

Do you thing they're sweating the Wyoming game on the Texas boards??

1)It is the off season.
2)Texas didn't nearly lose to EWU last year.

CSU plays with a huge chip on their shoulders every year too and they still don't win. Wyoming might be good in a few years, but they don't have the horses to run the offense yet. See RRod at UMich. It will take a few years. CU wins this one easily.

This game will not be close. Wyoming has one of the worst QB situations in the nation. I see at least a 4 TD victory here.

I tend to panic about every game we play, so yes, i'm worried

Ya this board has been pretty dead lately...just trying to create some discussion. And until we can prove we can dominate teams we truly should dominate, I'll be a little worried as always.

LOVE Cedar Point, been there twice. Hopefully I'll be able to make the Toledo game

Been to cedar point around 100 times. We used to go to kings Island to ride the beast down by cincy but it seems cedar point kept adding kick a$4 coasters every other month.

That's the only thing in ohio I miss. Their coasters are the best period.

the millennium ftmfw!

The last time we played Wyoming and it was in Folsom was a major struggle.

No one on the current roster was on that team, and we have a new coaching staff - that's ancient history. If we're a team taking the next step, then anything less than a total beatdown of the cowboys is unacceptable.

Don't worry about a short week. I remember in the Mac years that he would have fall camp and then two weeks before the opening game he would concentrate on game planning for a future game (beyond the opening game). The week before the opening game he would game plan for that game. I believe this is a standard practice in football. It allows the players to have a background in a future teams schemes before they have a short week of prep.

I would like to think that CU will do this in the fall camp. At least spend part of the time preparing for Toledo. They know that it will be a short week but part of the fall camp can compensate for that.
