Somebody on Netbuffs said our fastest receiver runs a 4.65??? Jesus, I hope we have some game speed. I ran a 4.46 in high school, electronic, and was lightly recruited by a couple of D-1's and several smaller colleges. Seriously, that is pathetic for a D-1 school. I know 40's are overrated but I could run a 4.65 now, I hope he is misinformed.

Why in ****'s name are believing anything said on ****turds?

Re: Netbuffs.

Wow our speed at WR is really, really, really bad. I haven't even heard of the guy with the fastest time, heh. This is where losing Josh hurts.

We do have excellent speed at DB and RB, though. Jimmy Smith has elite size and elite speed. If he puts it together he will be playing on Sundays, IMO.

Also nice to see DS clock in with a great time. Lockridge is super fast too, and Stewart certainly isn't slow.

Seeing our WR times, though... :( Hopefully Simas plays fast on the field.

Re: Netbuffs.

Simmons and Ussery should boost the speed of the WRs right away. Obviously need to bring in more speed in the 2010 class as well.

Perhaps Lockridge will get some work out of the backfield to utilize his speed.

Re: Netbuffs.

We don't need speed. We have great character guys from winning teams and great backgrounds. We need to stop trying to win and be winners.

Re: Netbuffs.

im not worried about it since CU didnt make a bowl last year and had all of that extra strength and conditioning time to get that much better.

Wow, I had forgot about the people spouting that stuff at the end of last year.

Imagine how good we could be if we'd just skip all of this season & do nothing but strength & conditioning!

At least those WR's are 6' and under, so we have that going for us...OK Simas is over 6', but we are lacking in the measurable category, maybe these guys can be the bow really well...I sure hope so.

:smile2:

Our WRs are going to look much different with the addition of guys like Simmons, Ussery, Darden, and Clemons. Size and speed, what a concept.

Re: Netbuffs.

Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 but you rarely saw him get caught from behind on the field. Game speed is different than practice speed.

Re: Netbuffs.

EVERYONE here and at Netbuffs need to relax. The day they (skill players) ran the 40s, the team just completed max tests in squats. REALLY! This was told to me first hand from Tyler Hansen, who ran several 4.6 - 4.7 over the summer! He was very bummed over the time, but had to accept it after doing well on his other tests. BTW Brian L. was the only one who really was not affected by the squat tests.

Looking at the numbers they didn't affect Cody either.

Yeah. Why would the public be privvy to the classified information? This is how to keep Toledo and Texas from over-preparing for the Buffs.

Just add 10% to the weight lifting and subtract 10% from the 40 time to get in the ballpark.

So Solder is really a 4.5 guy, who knew?

Thanks for that tidbit. I wasn't worried--I was pretty sure our fast-movers hadn't slowed down since high school.

It's all starting to make sense... except the part about why they tested the day after doing squats, unless they intended the speeds to look slower.

... which doesn't make sense, but I'm feeling better about those times, now.

Thanks much for the insight. It really does help my comprehension.

Game speed is much different and Jerry Rice is the ultimate example, nobody ever caught that guy when he had the rock.

I hope we have some faster than that but more important than speed is quickness which is what a receiver needs to get open.

And no, speed and quickness are not the same thing.

Truthfully, if somebody can keep close to their 40 time with full gear, that is all u can ask for. I ran 40's after squat max before and it does make a difference, especially if u get up 3 or 4 weights u havent got up before. Somebody that can run a 4.5 or 4.6 in pads is pretty damn quick.
