We all knew this was going to happen

University of Oregon president David Frohnmayer added; "I believe we all agree that no system will ever be considered perfect, particularly by those conferences and institutions whose teams are not chosen in any particular year," Frohnmayer said. "But the BCS is the best postseason arrangement that has ever existed in college football."
"In the last six years, I've read pundits, heard the pronouncements of broadcasters and collected several cubic feet of e-mail printouts from advocates of an NFL-style playoff system. Even those that go beyond sound bite certitude share two intertwined and fatal deficiencies: They disrespect our academic calendars and they utterly lack a business plan."
Booooooo, I say Booooooo.
Arrogance at its best

This is the MWC's biggest mistake in my opinion. Quit trying to get a playoff instututed. It will never happen. Instead, focus soley on getting the MWC conference automatic bid status. If it takes adding Boise State and Fresno State then make it happen.

I agree, they should have been banging the door for a bid instead of a playoff. The blue-hairs are so out of touch it's sickening. Every other sport decides it on the field/court etc... yet these turds will never get it.

A lot will be changing down the road anyway, IMO. The new Pac-10 commissioner, Larry Scott, has expressed pursuing the addition of two teams in to the conference. the most likely candidates being Utah and BYU, but Boise State and Fresno St have also been mentioned. If (when) they pick up BYU and Utah, that will leave only 7 teams in the MWC (which will then need to be re-alligned-most likely combining with the WAC). there are a lot of holes in it, but it looks like a realistic possibility for the Pac-10 which will give them a conference championship and extra game.

I think if I had a dollar for every time I have heard BYU was leaving for the Pac-10 over the last decade I would be able to retire by now.

No Kidding. One upside here is that with the BCS, a conference championship game benefits the teams in the Pac-10. Even if it does happen, it will be years down the road but a good move for CFB.

I know this discussion is played out, but I'd still like to see CU jump to the pac 10.

I'm not sure I would like us to jump to the PAC-10. I really like the big 12. I like the tough schedules and the credibility we bring. I know it is tough to recruit in the Big 12 but I think we have been doing a great job. Its tough to play also, but the better the opponent we play the better we will get.

we would recruit a lot better if we were in the pac 10, thats for sure.

Do you think so. We would be going head to head with Oregon, UCLA, ASU and USC. We already do that but I don't see many advantages. I think one of the leverages we have over those programs is that we offer different teams to play against with better television deals. Most of those programs seem to play on FSN and TBS. Those aren't exactly the highlight networks these days.

I think it would help by saying your family can watch you play more often. That would be a big boost. But we play some of those teams in OOC anyway. I would think it would make those games more special. IMO

So what is the point of College Football this year? I guess we control our own destiny in the Big12, but after that I can care less I think.

We will always go after the players that fit our team the best especially with Hawk at the helm, no matter if they are from Cali, Texas or somewhere in the Mid West. Or do you mean it as we will just look better in the rankings because there are more bottom feeder teams in the Pac 10 than than the Big XII and we will always beat them in rankings.

i meant it as the bulk of kids we recruit are from cali and the pac 10 area. many of whom make it a priority stay in the pac 10.

Screw the MWC. What a bunch of whiners. They have maybe 2, at the most 3, teams that are even close to consideration. And that is only because the other teams suck. So, they get a win over an SEC team in the bowl games. BFD! GAWD I hate the MWC!!
