Joseph Fauria says "plan is to come back" to Notre Dame

Being that he planned to spend his summer and fall with Notre Dame's football team, and being that this is no longer going to be the case, one can imagine Joseph Fauria has an overabundance of concerns at the moment.

But at least for that moment, Fauria sees through the hazy future and envisions a return to South Bend at some point.

Perhaps he had a terrible falling out with his teammates and coaching staff.

Maybe Charlie will release his scholarship, but with one condition.

I'd guess that petty bastard of a head coach would restrict his scholarship options to just one school (so petty, regardless of the circumstances--how is this young man gonna learn the value of a contract?).

That one school would be CU.

I'll betcha thats how it goes down.

Of course we won't take him, in spite of his uncle's (uncle right?) legacy, because he doesn't fit in with our team.

Why doesn't he fit? Does he not smile enough? Is he not from a championship team? Does he not have good genes? Does he not have the whole package or a zest for life?

all rumor so take it for what it is worth.... I just got off the phone with a friend of mine who lives in Chicago and is a hudge ND fan, he said ND wanted him to bulk up and play OT and he was not willing. So they buried him on the depth chart.

All rumor so take it for what it is worth.

Pac-10 sounds good at first glance but I expect CU may get serious interest and vice-versa. USC ain't offering. UCLA probably won't offer as they are pretty deep there going forward and have more players on scholarship than scholarships.

We are definitely very LEAN right now at TE for guys we'd project for 2010. We will lose three seniors and we backfill with Deehan who'll be a Junior, Luke Walters (assuming he will get a medical RS) could be back, but he's unproven, and Thornton who will have RS'ed one year.

Considering we seem to want to play 2 TE's at a time, this position needs a transfer or JC guy to be ready for 2010 season.

I think Fauria needs to take a good hard look at the Buffs here. It's not like the other Pac-10 schools are in his backyard.

But he signed a contract...

Dear Christ you're a whiny bitch.

I've seen you make the same point repeatedly on the J-Fly threads. And while you initially argued your point compellingly (you cleverly countered my one contribution to the topic and I concede the point you made) you've reached the point where you appear far more petty than Hawk ever could through transfer limitations.

You've reduced me to name-calling. Neg rep.

That first sentence should be made an auto response for all of us to use in certain situations.

He's 6'8" and god knows how heavey now, he should bulk up and play tackle.

Hey beaver, don't get your panties in a wad because I'm having a little fun on the board. Relax, will ya?

And also, you gave me a positive rep.

D'oh!

Oopsy. I'll take it back when I can.

Tight end Fauria to transfer to UCLA

Former Notre Dame tight end Joseph Fauria said today he is transferring to UCLA, and he recently gave coach Rick Neuheisel a non-binding oral commitment. Under NCAA transfer rules, Fauria will sit out 2009 and be eligible for the 2010 season. He will have three years of eligibility remaining once he is eligible.

"I'm going to end up at UCLA,'' he said. "I'm verbally committed.'' The 6-foot-7, 250-pound Fauria will reunite with former high school teammate and current Bruins quarterback Kevin Prince. The two starred at Crespi High of Encino.

"It's a great atmosphere,'' Fauria said. "It was my second choice coming out of high school, got a good coaching staff and the arrow is pointing up for the direction of the program.''

Fauria said he left Notre Dame because of an issue with the administration, and not coach Charlie Weis or the football program.

Put a revolving door on the JD Morgan Center
UCLA = Player swap meet.

Something is out of whack at UCLA... it is very strange to see that many players and recruits showing interest. Any day now the "dark side" of any Slick Rick run program will emerge.

UCLA is an outstanding school with a beautiful campus in a fantastic location in a metro area loaded with talent, and they have a winning tradition. Yeah, its strange seeing UCLA recruit well.

It's not strange at all in my mind.

Rick was always a good recruiter.

OK, but when the truth comes out about Slick Rick pulling his normal shenanigan's again I won't even say I told you so. Maybe UCLA got more beautiful, better tradition, etc recently. OR, they are offering other perks.

But the kids he's recruiting today were only 14 at the time he got the boot at U Dub. Their parents should probably have known better but lets face it. How many times in your life is one of your kids a D1 football prospect AND you had the background to guide your prodigy to a good decision. The fact is, RN is a smooth talker and UCLA is a great place. And now he's older. He's put players into the NFL (the primary driver most kids look at). I think that if he doesn't meddle and lets his assistants run the program he'll do well.

UCLA isn't that great. It's pretty far from the only redeeming feature to LA (the beach) and it's only the 2nd or 3rd best public university in California. Plus it's boring. Aside from 2 -3 bars, you have to take a 20 minute taxi ride to go out at night. Oh, and the football games are waaaay off campus.

I know. I almost went there in so much that it and CU were both first in my mind. Westwood was where we went.

It's the power of Chow - the guy's got great history - combined with The Greazy One.

I wonder if Chow will finally get the head coaching job after New-weasel get fired, will we all know is going to happen sooner or later.

I hope Kiesau can steal a few good pages from Chow's Playbook.
