In the next few season, what are some teams you think will jump conferences? What teams do you want to see come to or leave the Big XII?

First and foremost CU will never go to the PAC 10, unless we are given a ridiculous offer we can't refuse.

Will the Big 11 try and snatch Iowa State or Missou? I bet in 5 years or less we lose one.

Heres hoping it's Iowa State and we can bring in a worth while MWC team, after all they fought the law and the law won.

Utah to the Big XII out goes Missou (Big 11 looking for a bigger TV market than ames).

I know there is more involved than just conference hopping...

What else do you guys think?

Sorry dog days of summer wanting football to start and thinking about NCAA '10 coming out tomorrow...

I don't know, but it would be nice to bring in another Rocky Mountain region team.

CU to the pac10!!!!!!!! :woot:

we have this discussion every off-season. i could write that thread, both sides, in my sleep!

so, putting aside that part of the discussion and looking at some of your other possibilities...

i think notre dame will eventually end up in the b10... if they keep sucking, they won't get a tv deal like their last one. that will end the talk of mizzery or isu to the b10.

i could see the texass schools and arkie trying to recreate something like the old swc again at some point, i guess. they might try to pull the land thieves with them. now THAT would cause some serious chaos.

If CSU could get their act together, I think it would be great having them as a member of the Big 12. Unfortunately, they're light years away from being in a position where they would offer anything that the conference would want.

I really don't see the Big 12 losing any members at all, frankly. Who's going to leave? Texas? No way. Missouri? I doubt it, considering the Big 11 would prefer to have Pitt or Notre Dumb. Cincinatti would be a better choice than Mizzou. Iowa State doesn't bring enough to the table, and would be at the far Western edge of the conference.

If the Big 12 did lose a team, my preference would be to bring in Tulane. Road trips to New Orleans would be epic.

Big 11 is picky about who it takes. That said, at some point the Big East is going to have to get bigger to stay in the BCS club or, when they get the boot, you could see Syracuse, Pitt, UConn, or Rutgers join the Big 11. All of those bring a bigger tv audience than the entire state of Missouri would.

The Big 11 would obviously love to have nd but I can't imagine the conference is going to wait a whole lot longer because the potential revenue from a CCG will soon force them to add that 12th team. And since I don't expect nd to lessen their arrogance and join the conference they naturally belong in, then the Big 11 will turn to Pitt or Rutgers because of their markets.

I think it is a boring topic.

First of all you have to look at it from the conference perspective - and the perspective is 90% governed by money. The Big 10 is never going to consider IOWA State - not going to happen ever. Iowa would veto it and ISU brings absolutely nothing to the table. The Big 10 is now generating a fortune with the Big 10 Network and is going to be reluctant to share that pie, maybe not even with ND.

I don't think that most conferences are looking to expand at the moment. If the Big 12 replaces a member it will most likely come from Texas - University of Houston or TCU. Either of which would hurt CU in recruiting, IMO.

Do you think it will be a requirement for BCS conferences to have 12 teams and conference championship game soon? If so then the Big East & PAC 10 have some maneuvering to do. Assuming ND goes to the Big 1(11)0, then who does the Big East try to get? Also, would the MWC try and nab Boise State, Fresno State, & Tulsa to have 12 teams and try and make a push that they should be a BCS conference? I know if the requirement for a conference is 12 teams the PAC 10 would make a big push (I think) to pick up BS & FS.

The only conference that I can see CU jumping to is the MWC. This does make a lot more sense than the PAC-10 and with SDSU and UNLV in that conference, the SoCal Buff fans can easily go to those games and root for the Buffs. We would be able to easily focus more on putting together a good team than spending the money to keep up with the Texas, Nebraskas, and Oklahomas of college football but that's me.

Very close to neg repping you for stupidity. Who the fck wants to be in the mountain worst? Even the members that they already have want to jump ship.

Couple things:

1. Why in the hell would CU leave a BCS conference to join the MWC?? Might as well throw millions of dollars in the garbage.

2. ND has WAY too good of a deal currently to ever join a conference. They have a killer TV deal, play teams all over the country, and qualify for a BCS bowl if they win 9 games. There is ZERO reason for them to join the Big 11.

3. I can see a scenario where the Big East dissolves. If Pitt or WVU were to leave for a better conference, there wouldn't be much of a reason to keep the Big East in the BCS. Potentially you could have the Big East dissolve (or at least lose its BCS membership), Utah and BYU to the Pac 10, Boise St and someone else to the MWC. The new MWC replaces the Big East in the BCS...maybe??

This post makes my head hurt....

CU can't possibly be attractive to the Pac 10. i roll my eyes everytime i see that. maybe in 1996: hoops was in the NCAA and top 10 football teams were only a couple years in the rearview. now, a 10 win hoops team and .500 football?

don't think so.

To your first point: exactly. Nobody in their right mind would want to downgrade out of a BCS conference.

There's 2 things stopping ND from joining the Big 11 - their arrogance and that TV deal.

To your 3rd point: Pitt could end up in the Big 10, but there's no place else for WVU to go. I agree that the Big East is losing the big football schools up and down the east coast, first it was Miami and VT, and more recently BC. That conference screwed up from a football aspect when it was formed by not grabbing Penn State right away.

I'm pretty sure Nash was only saying the MWC move would be the only one to make geographic and financial sense to CU at this point. Highly doubt he was suggesting it happen, but that's just how I read it.

I can almost buy the argument on geography, but it makes absolutely no financial sense whatsoever. Leaving the BCS would be a lunatic move, financially. Why do you think the MWC wants in the BCS so bad??

Assuming the Big 12 stayed intact, I'd like to see it expand and become the Big 14.

TCU to the South and Utah to the North would put a historical rival on our schedule every year.

Yes money is the reason why we would still be in the Big 12. But if it was not an issue, then why not?

Man we sure had a bad year when it came to athlethics...hopefully we will be at least .500 in football, men's bb and women's bb this coming season.

How in H3LL would that make one iota of financial sense? That has to be totally stupid....

How about the converse? What is one good reason to go to the MWC??? I suppose that it is the prestige of the MWC conference that does it for you.

Some CU fans totally baffle me. At least the UT and OU fans get it when it comes to raising the bar.

The biggest attribute we have going for us right now is we can offer the Denver TV market.

If the Big East wanted to plan for it's future and the possibility of losing some big schools, they should me trying to raid the MAC and Conf. USA right now.

TRY, key word TRY, to bring in up and coming schools / coaches... Such as...
1. East Carolina, geographically right in there, had a great game with WVU last year, Holtz is an up and coming coach, for ECU to have a shot at keeping him, become a BCS school with $$ to throw his way.
2. Southern Miss, year in and year out they put a decent program on the field, probably would not compete for any titles, but it's also a team that won't bring shame into the conference.
3. Central Florida, get the Florida market, recruits and hey you already have Southern Florida for the rivalry in your conference.
4. Buffalo, Turner Gill, same story as Holtz, probably will lose him to a BCS school anyway, but at least this way they can put up a fight. Plus geographically rival with Syracuse possibly.

The rest of the teams in the other conference don't fit geographically or are crap teams. In the Sun-Belt, you have the two Florida teams, but they need a few more years to even come close to consider moving up more.

Since the BCS is run by the Big East Commish, you would think they would at least do something to save their conference and the $$ that comes with it.

And of course this is all based upon the above assumption that Pitt goest to the Big 11 or someone else gets raided out.

In the Big East's defense, teams like UConn and Rutgers who have traditionally been mediocre at best have bubbled up lately making the conference more competetive, but they don't have a lot of teams with a long history of top-caliber football, so if a Pitt or WVU were to leave, they would be vulnerable.

This is all speculation of course, but if a top Big East team were to leave for greener pastures, it would sure give the MWC more ammunition and a good argument to replace the Big East in the BCS.

I'd like to see it, living in Orlando to get a better quality of game in town, but the folks over in Tampa at USF have made it pretty clear they don't want to do UCF any favors and share their BCS pie. They want Miami as a rival. They will also play FSU this season.

It is akin to UF and FSU in the 60s and 70s. UF in no way wanted FSU in the SEC and black balled it every time it came up.

But since the BCS is run by the Big East Commish is he gonna let that happen? I highly doubt it, I just wonder what the Big East will do to stay relevant.
