Who will be the buffs leading rusher in 2009 and how many yards? Will Darrell Scott finally show why he was the #1 RB recuit in the country? Will Speedy shine again? Will it be Summler? Will we have a 1,000 yard rusher for the first time since 2004? Or will carries be so split that no one goes over 1,000?
Thoughts?

Scott will be top rusher. Stewart will be RB with most catches and recieving yards. If Cody can get him the ball on a the screen play.

Last year:
Stewart averaged 4.7 YPC.
Sumler averaged 4.0 YPC.
Scott averaged 3.9 YPC.

Spring practice and summer drills didn't do enough to change the on-field results, so I voted Stewart.

Stewart will have more rushing yards than Sumler or Scott, again.

Are you implying Spring practice and summer drills can do enough to change the on-field results from the previous season?

Scott has better hands as a receiver than Stewart.

I've heard that to. But Stewart can get lost behind the bigs on the screen then pop out for big yards. Almost had that play work a couple of times last year, but the passes were batted down or poorly thrown.

See your point, but running middle screens isn't a really good idea when the rb on the receiving end is 5'7", especially when the line is giving ground too quickly. I'd like to see a slip screen to the strong side instead, or a straight shovel pass without the screen blocking. I think Stewart could be dangerous on a shovel pass, and since his main running play is bouncing outside on draws, a quick shovel pass between the tackles could be a nice compliment to that and slow down the pass rush. I think they combined the two and ran a shovel screen against Texas last year, and it went for 20 yards.

And since summer drills are unofficial and not open to the public, and are just 7 on 7 drills anyway, how would they matter for this poll? Do you even watch CU games, ever? Cause you have the strong whiff of NU troll.

i felt they did that with sumler a bit last year.

Was thinking of a slip screen play for Stewart. Agree that middle screen does not play to his strength. Play I was thinking of happened last year v. CSU I believe. Screen to the right, two bigs in front of Stewart, pass was batted down. I would like to see more of that. Get Stewart the ball in space and let him use his quickness. Anyway, I am hopeful that we will see some homerun plays coming from the short passing game. GO BUFFS!

I voted Stewart. If you want to be the man, you got to beat the man. Stewart is the man.

I also think it's entirely possible that both of them top the 1K mark.

That would make me VERY happy.

I'm not sure that Stewart will even be the #2 back. I could see him slipping to 3rd or 4th on the RB depth chart. People are really forgeting about Summler and Lockridge. It is sure nice to have this depth at RB though. I am worried about Stewart holding up as a feature back. Scott is really gonna rise in fall camp and he will beat everybody for #1 by the CSU game IMO, he will be a completely different back.

Exactely why he should be our change of pace back. Pound away with Scott and then hit em with Speedy. I love depth at RB.

:wow:

Lockridge? Sumler?

Stewart is electric and should be the #1 back until someone else knocks him off. No one else, including Scott, showed the ability that he showed last season.

Obviously things can change, but Stewart shouldn't have any trouble coming back from his injury.

I see Scott, Speedy, and Sumler all getting a fair amount of carries. Scott and Speedy should get a nice majority, but Sumler really came on down the stretch last season. He would not be a bad short yardage option. Lockridge seems like the odd man out to me.

An out of shape Scott showed flashes when he was not healthy last year, Scott is both in shape and healthy this time around. Watch out! agree that Speedy is electric, but we have better talent than him at RB, it's ok it's not a bad thing, it's good. Oh and did you see Summler in the Nebraska game? And Lockridge is one of if not the fastest on the team.

I Remember that play against CSU too. That was a bad throw by Cody.

I went with Stewart. I like Scott and think he has all world potential. But even with a healthy and improved line until the passing game is a threat teams will load the line to stuff the run. That plays more to the effectiveness of the speedy, shifty style of Stewart.

If we can get some competent, consistent production out of the QB spot I think both could go for over 1,000 as well. HOPE SO!!!!

If Scott is really down to 200 pounds and 4% body fat, he will be very, very explosive. Nothing against Speedy, I just really think Scott is going to be that good.

Sumler showed flashes, but he is more a mundane back. Great to have in your stable, but he doesn't scare anyone.

Scott showed flashes, but Stewart was consistent and BETTER. When Scott shows it on the field, then I will crown him the best back.

And finally, there is NO WAY that Sumler or Lockridge has more talent then Stewart.

Ok, I will agree on the bolded, but I still think Scott is ready to explode. People did not get to see the Scott last year that we are about to see now. He came in late, out of shape and was plauged by injuries. He was deemed the hardest worker by Pit in the offseason and he sounds focused and ready to show. I believe he will from the start.

Yep, and people, please don't think I'm dogging on Speedy, I'm not, I love him. We are just about to see something at RB we haven't seen in a long time here in Boulder.
