just a few notes, ill let slider and the others do what they're best at, that said:
-andre was there and in jersey number one, but not practicing. he looks the part though!
-will jefferson was practicing.
-i highly doubt darden gets a redshirt, he caught everything in sight and was getting up there, i really think he is gonna be good.
-clark seems to have a pretty slow delivery, but i really don't know much.
-talked to a recruiting coordinator and he said everybody is ready to go 100% except major (but he will be fine) and davis. he also the said the team meeting last night was intense, and that everybody is really feeling it. he mentioned big12 champ game at least three times.
-clemons looks like he is gonna fit right in.
-IM PUMPED FOR FOOTBALL!!!

Good stuff Bob!

Can't wait to see practices on Monday/Tuesday in person.

How did Hansen look?

haha man, i was not a good watcher today, i didnt even notice. like i said, slider or someone else will have a full review.

My take:

I thought Darden was gonna RS actually. T3 (Terdema Ussery the Third - Hawk calls him TD) look amazing. sharp routes, great hands, did NOT look like a frosh on his first practice. Darden looked slow and unsure... but damn, he looks the part standing there.

Note on Wideouts in General. I cannot express how amazing they looked compared to last years. The SIZE! It's good to see wideouts with some serious size. The difference was easy to see. When I got there the wideouts were going through drills. First ones I saw were the old wideouts. Very meh... then the frosh came out. It was amazing. So nice!

Qbs: Cody is gonna start. Hansen looked less accurate, and cody has a little more (but still less) zip than hansen. Hansen was just inconsistent. Superman (CE) has a slow slow release, but it is nice and high. Threw some real ducks. Will Jef was around, but not really making an impact. Simmons was as noted above. DAMN I can't wait..

Biggest dissapointment? A certain Transfer WR who won't be playing for us this year... He looked AWESOME. Just great. Fast, fluid, and confident.

Most surprising player? Seth Lobato. Weird side arm motion, but his throws have real zip and are pretty accurate. Wearing #10, tallest QB we got. Too thin tho. I am excited about what he could do if he stays in the weightroom and sticks with the team.

RBs: Looked great. Forgot how fast lockridge was, and speedy had some sick moves... First pads practice should be fun. RBs' didn't do much this practice.

Special Teams: Speedy looked confident fielding punts.... Grossnickle really sucked at punting . Dilallo looked great. Goodman? missed a few.. Yech. Don't like our kicking game atm aside from punting.

Oline... HUGE. Jack Harris is a bit thin, but damn, he looks the part. Stoked to have him with us... A really bad shotgun snap from Iltis.

Didn't see defnse, they were practicing on the far side of the field...

Bad news: Simmons with no helmet and just aimlessly chilling. Hansen looking undependable (picked several times, bad touch on other throws, only tipped pass of the practice). Andd....

Guess what is MOST DEFINITELY back. Your FAVORITE play. End around. Although end around with DS/Speedy/Lockridge should be interesting, it is MOST definitely back. And not always to those 3...

Scott was seen chilling with the punters, but didn't kick....

Thats it for now. Sure I am missing something.

Not what I wanted to hear, except good about DiLallo and Speedy. Surprised Grossnickle was punting at all, I thought he had a broken arm? Did you see a cast or has he got it off?

New thoughts:

Every time I glanced at the other side of the field, Burney was making a play. He is BACK baby.

No cast for Nickle. just looks skinny as hell.

Only one bad shotgun snap, but really, I only saw a few of those. Most things were under center. Lots of shifting. No more signalling in plays.

wow, we must have been looking at something different. darden made some really nice catches today.

look at the depth chart. Now give me rep you bastard :wink2:

Yeah, I know Scott might come in for punt plays but I didn't take it as he would be spending all his time with the punters..

1RB in the country and he's chilling with the punters in his soph year?

No rep for u.. :smile2:

he looked fine... but not as crisp. They both looked teh awesome.

and JB... Scott saw the trainers for a while, got stretched out. worried me for a bit. Got as much time as Quentin Hildreth for what I saw (who by the way looks like a great scatback)

Burney should have a great season. I think he has legit NFL talent.

Here are my impressions:

As everyone has been saying, I can't say enough good things about the wide receiver corps. They were making some great moves and we are getting a HUGE upgrade at that position.

I'm really excited about Brian Lockridge. He is one fast muthaka and he has a set of hands.

Darrell Scott looked the part and he was running really well. I think he's ready to show us that he's the guy we were so excited about last year. Also, Speedy looks like he's up to his old tricks again. He burned someone pretty good in a pass catching drill. He opened up a good 10 yard lead on whoever it was who was covering him.

I saw a lot of guys practicing punt returns at the beginning of practice today (into the sun no less). The complete list: Speedy, Maxwell, Espinoza, Lockridge, Moyd, Hildreth, Will Jefferson, and Parker Orms. I only saw one drop too. This made me happy. Jefferson by the way is the real deal. Really all of the WRs (new or otherwise) looked really good. Espinoza had some good catches too.

Part 2

Our O-line looked like absolute beasts. I would not want to meet any one of them in a dark alley. If I were a CU QB, I'd feel really good about my protection.

I didn't get much of a look at the defense (as said before they were on the far side) but I did hear Hawk yell at Jimmy Smith that he did good. "B-Lock" got a few shoutouts from Hawk too. Non-football related, but Hawk's voice really has a way of carrying. I could hear him no matter where he was on the field. How that guy manages to hold on to his voice for an entire season boggles my mind.

Finally, I was talking to a staff member (I think his name was Curt) and he was really pumped up about the coming season. I heard him say something to the effect of "We'll see you in Dallas." One other interesting thing, the brouhaha over closed practices last year was due to one thing and one thing only: cell phones. I have it on good word that the fewer cell phones they see, the better chance there is of more practices being open.
