Christ... Simas suspended 2 games...

Time for some of these guys to grow up. You missed a whole ****ing year due to be lazy with schoolwork, why put yourself into any situations that would cause you to miss two more games. Good lord. I wonder about the focus of this team sometimes.

well, csewe certainly thinks they have this one in the bag now. just run it down their throats.

Good news is we at least have a few other guys now who will step up (Simmons, Jefferson, TD). This needs to not turn into a trend with him, it sounded like he worked really hard in the classroom last spring to become eligible and I just hope that he doesnt piss this down the drain

Team? :wow: It ain't the team, its the individual! This particular individual has a history as you pointed out: he thinks he's a bit smarter/better than everyone else---he can't be subject to no damned rules, right? Jes' like the old Coasters' song, Charlie Brown: why's evr' body always pickin' on me?

Ennnnnnnnt! WRONG!

Who cares anyway? We now got a bunch of receivers, many bigger and faster, all of whom have the same number of catchs in a D1 college game as this individual: ZERO!

You f***-up, you lose!

News like this keeps me "guardedly optimistic"
It is good to see Hawk isn't putting up with this bull though

After this I am wondering if we should expect simas to contribute at all. If he does one more thing against team rules see ya simas

Give me a break on the "Who cares anyway?" retort. Just about everyone around the program (coaches, media types, fans watching practices, etc.) recognizes Simas as the best WR on this team. So cut the crap that we can afford to lose him for any significant stretches of time.

Damn, quit yer cryin everybody. If this happened on any other team, we'd all be sayin how convenient it is that the coach suspended the player for CSU and Toledo and not for a real game and whinin about how that coach cared more about winning football games than disciplining a player.

If we lose to CSU or Toledo, it won't be because Simas is unavailable, it will be because we suck.

I don't think anyone is saying we'll lose the first two games because Simas is suspended. We're pissed because a kid has made his second mistake after missing all last season due to academics. In other words, he needs to "get it" at some point to help us out on the field.

:congrats:

But still... NONONONONONONONO. Damn it! I hope the Post will continue to keep us in the loop about the futures of Sione Gau and Marcus Simers this academic year.

It sucks that he got suspended, but if he violated team rules then he needs to sit. There are repercussions and I'm glad he has to face them....even if it is AGAIN. We don't know what team rules he violated so I'm not going to comment on the severity of the punishment, but either way the hammer needs to be brought so I hope this punishment is just.

The program sure is doing a good job keeping a lid on the details.

Is that because of the accountability groups?

I remember when Bieniemy was suspended for the Tennessee game in 1990, a certain WR stepped up and rushed for over 200 yards in his place.

This is really disappointing. Everything I'd heard on Simas had been so positive. He got his grades up, he's looked great on the field, and he was real happy that Kiesau was the coordinator now. Hopefully this is the last kick in the pants he needs to get behind the fact that he's got a college degree and a shot at the NFL there for the taking if he can just buckle down for the next 3 years.

:stupid:

And we're pissed because this **** seems to keep happening. I'm glad Hawk keeps these guys accountable when they screw up, but at some point the next step needs to happen and they need to learn to just quit screwing the **** up.... :sad2:

I also hate this in particular because they need Simas to be a key guy in this offense this year, and CSU and Toledo were important chances for him to get his feet wet in CFB at game speed. Now he has the Wyo game to get acclimated before WVU and the conference schedle.... :sad1:

So if we lose either of the 1st two games it will be because we didn't have the next Jerry Rice at WR?

I agree with LilBunky... The guy has done nothing in his career at CU and for people to be actually counting on this guy to be the best WR is pretty desperate if you ask me..

How many chances are they going to give this guy who's caught 0 passes as he goes into his third year? If he plays okay fine, if he doesn't who cares.. Other players are available..

I think anyone with a brain can see this kid has a lot of talent. So naturally people get excited about what he could do for us. Sounds desperate right Jimmy.

I think we're anxious to see him because of the talent, size and what he has done in practice. As someone that has watched him in practice, he consistently was above all the other WR's in all practices. He also had a decent spring game with a michael westbrook or charles johnson type TD catch. We're just ready to see some home run threats at WR again, somethign we haven't had for a while.

Talent and potential doesn't always translate into difference maker in the game...

I see your point..

I'll just wait until I see it on the field during the game before I get too excited..

That is true, but watching him live in practice does get you excited. He truly does have super glue hands and good route running skills. We shall see, I think both our WR's and secondary are gonna be huge improvements this season.

true. I remember a punter for CU in 94. He would boom punts 75+ during practice, then in the kNU game he would shank every one 20 yards.

I think Simas will be a good one though.
