Beaufort linebacker Justin Parker is the top linebacker in the state of South Carolina. He was on South Carolina's campus on Saturday for the Showcase camp and talked with TheBigSpur.com right after it was over.

Parker has offers from South Carolina, Clemson, NC State, Maryland, Wake Forest, and is also getting heavy interest from Virginia Tech. He talked the Gamecock Showcase camp.

"It was nice man," Parker said. "I enjoyed myself a lot. I went up against some of the best running backs around, Marcus Lattimore and some other guys. Some of the former players were helping me out. I know Casper and Jasper Brinkley was out there talking to me."

Re: '10 SC ILB Justin Parker

He's visiting Clemson this weekend. Hopefully he doesn't commit.

Parker, Buice to visit Clemson Saturday; Basford USC trip up in the air

By Phil Kornblut
Two of Clemson's major targets will make unofficial visits Saturday, and one is expected to commit before leaving. LB Justin Parker (6-2 225) of Beaufort will make his first ever visit to Clemson. He will be joined on the visit by his brother. Parker plans to arrive around 9:00 AM and will stay thru Sunday. Parker recently added an offer from East Carolina and is close to an offer from Duke. He also has offers from USC, Maryland, Wake Forest, Central Florida, NC State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Colorado, South Florida and Mississippi State. RB Demont Buice (6-2 220) will visit with his coach and he plans to commit to the Tigers while on campus. "I've seen everything I need to see," Buice said. "I"m ready to go." Buice also has offers from Ole Miss, Louisville, Kentucky, Southern Miss, UAB and Louisiana Tech. TE Neil Basford (6-5 235) of Jacksonville, FL had planned to visit USC Saturday but as of Friday night he had not been able to confirm the visit with rercruiter Steve Spurrier Jr. If he doesn't hear from the coach by sometime Friday night or Saturday morning, he won't make the visit. Basford has a top five of USC, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Miami.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

Gonna be tough to get him out of state, let alone halfway across the country.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

New Rivals update has him quoted as saying he'd like to get out here for a visit. I think we're a long way from being his #1, but it's great that we're still on his radar.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

More confirmation today. In-state programs Clemson and South Carolina are his co-number 1s... but he said Colorado is a school he wants to get out to for a visit. We were the only other program he mentioned for visits. Still a longshot, but...

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

Interesting. He seems to like us, has now mentioned us twice in interviews with other teams' sites. Hopefully he is interested in seeing something completely different from the South.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

He'll definitely see that with the Denver-Boulder area.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

If by "slightly" you mean "entirely", yes. :smile2:

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

His top 4, in order:

1. Clemson
2. South Carolina
3. NC State
4. Colorado

Parker is scheduling his official visits with all 4 (and maybe 1 more), but does not plan on committing until very late in the process. He's been to Clemson on several unofficials.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

I won't get excited until he actually schedules a visit...

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

do we have a shot?

Yep. We're major underdogs. But we stand out from his other finalists by being so different. If he decides he'd like to experience something different and leave the Carolinas... we're it. Just have to hope he loves it here when he comes for a visit.

And it certainly doesn't hurt that he'd get to play for the best inside linebacker coach in the nation at CU.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

I'm thinking South Carolina in the end. Clemson's coaching situation is precarious at the moment. Doubt we end up getting a visit to be honest.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

Listed as a visitor for this weekends game vs Mizzou! I hope he likes snow

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

Damn, I was hoping he'd want a change of scenery and we'd benefit. He might have been inclined to do so if we were winning games. Too bad.

Re: '10 SC MLB Justin Parker

Ship has sailed.

There were potential academic concerns from CU's side and a desire to stay close to home from Parker's side. Not gonna work out.

Buddy of mine played QB on his HS team, said we 100% would have landed him but we're too far from SC. Glad to hear we're making a positive impact with east coasters in some way.
