Anyone know the history of Rae Carruth?

I read this on Fuskerpedia and had not ever heard of it-- are they making it up?

If I was a CU fan, I'd just say it was the Panthers who turned Rae into a murderer.

"No, when he was at CU, he just threatened to kill the "exotic" dancer that he got pregnant if she didn't have an abortion, and his HS school girlfriend who was the first girl he got pregnant (that we know of) if she pursued getting child support from him. The dancer was smart and got an abortion and the HS girlfriend went to court and got the child support, and in open court stated that Carruth had threatened to kill her. That may have saved her life, who knows. "

This was in a thread about LP going to jail and of course turned into 'well, CU has no room to talk'.

Why are you reading ****erpedia? You should be ashamed of yourself.

I had read everything else here that I was interested in, and that left Lambnation, Fuskerpedia, and Nutbuffs. After five minutes on Lambnation, I was down to two choices--- so Fuskerpedia it was!!

I usually just swing by to quickly check to see what they are saying about us from time to time during the season. Or in Lambnations case, before the season. After a Buff win, they are usually just roiting amongst themselves after that. Entertaining in a way, but not that much.

Love Ya FIB but gotta agree with 96, stay out of (huskerville) hell you do have a choice on that place.

I've never heard any of those wild allegation relating to Carruth during his time as a Buff.

The one source I'd trust in such matters would be the testimony provided during his murder trial. If someone has access to the transcript, this could be cleared up.

I'm not about to buy into Husker misdirection of something that allegedly happened twenty ago to misdirect attention from the current woes of their own bad apple.

I have no freaking idea where that story came from, but it's the first I've ever heard it. Sounds like there's a fusker out there making sh*t up. Imagine that.

FOCUS PEOPLE!!!!!

Now, back to topic--- have any of you ever heard that he did these things? Or are they making up ****?

It's all bull****, what do you know, another fusker trying to make **** up to feel better about their poor poor self.

it has been a long time, but i do think i remember reading in the press (not huskerpedia) that one of the key witnesses in his murder trial was a former gf who testified that he had threatened to kill her if she had a baby.

but, that trial was a long time ago. it should also be noted that it was widely reported during the trial that he was a model citizen while at CU who maintained a B average, was soft-spoken, and enjoyed writing poetry as a hobby.

the guy is clearly a sociopath with an ability to compartmentalize behaviors.

One of Rae Carruth’s former girlfriends testified today that he was furious when she became pregnant by him, threatening her and insisting she have an abortion.

Amber Turner said Carruth also joked about being able to have his oldest son and the child’s mother killed, and fretted about his ability to pay support for the child of Cherica Adams.

Carruth is being tried on charges he arranged to have Adams killed. He could get the death penalty if convicted of first-degree murder.
Turner: Carruth Didn’t Want More Kids

Turner, 21, met Carruth in late 1996 in Colorado, where he was in college, and moved with him to Charlotte in the summer of 1997 when he was signed by the Carolina Panthers.

That December, they returned to Colorado for the off-season, where she remained when he went back to Charlotte in the spring of 1998. She became pregnant during a visit to Charlotte, and told Carruth by telephone in May.

She said Carruth, who already had a son by a woman in California, was livid.

“He said, ‘I ain’t going to have no more kids with someone I ain’t going to be with. … Don’t make me send somebody out there to kill you. You know I’ll do it,“‘ she said.

Your memory is very clear and the Fuskers are clearly making s*** up as is their wont.

It will be a pleasure watching their further demise this year once they clear their pussy OOC and hit Blacksburg, VA!!! Bo knows s***!

Carruth did indeed have a gf get an abortion, but I'm not sure if he ever threatened to kill her.

Even if he did, that would go contrary to everything that teammates, friends, coaches, and family had to say about him. Everyone at CU knew him as a quiet, good natured, quality citizen that would never hurt anyone. I'm ashamed of him, but at the same time, I don't think his conviction exemplifies our program - especially considering that his crime doesn't even match himself, or at least what we knew of him.

Neither program has room to talk. I always get annoyed with these arguments. They have Phillips and Peters. We have Carruth and the alleged scandal. They have this, we have that, blahblahblah. No football program, not even ND in its Catholic glory, can claim to have all choir boys on their squad. Even Duke lacrosse has a black eye. Sports teams will always have a some cocky guys filled up with testosterone that are prone to make bad decisions while in their late teens/early twenties. It's just a fact, and although the fact doesn't excuse the actions, it does in my opinion nullify any moral superiority one program may feel over another.

Uh, you think the big money just may have changed him? Or loosed the demons within?

He clearly was a different person for the three and half years he was in Boulder, before that!

The real issue was, that Saint TommO' like his predecessor, Bully Bob Devaney, coddled these thugs, covered for them(to the extent of hiding weapons), gave them mere "slaps on the wrist" for punishment, had the "fix" in with prosecutors in Lincoln and Omaha and did nothing to either change their behavior or banish them from the team, because they were difference-makers for the Fuskers on Saturdays. (That was nothing new to Devaney, he had the same MO when he was at Wyoming, prior to moving to kNU! It was a well-known fact that the Laramie jail regularly lost more than half its inmates when WYO had a game!)

I agree with you on this. It's a lame argument that never gets anyone anywhere.

And Christian Peter!

I wonder if the husker fan is one of the ones thats grandmother gets beaten and pushed down the stairs at CU games.

Sorry Sacky-- last post I had seen was TBDs-- so I did not see your or Skiddy's remarks. And yes, someone sent me a link to the court report where past girlfriends had stated in court that he had threatened to kill them if they did not get an abortion.

That saddens me; I don't know why, I guess I had it in my mind that he flipped and one huge huge bad decision, but now it looks like he just would **** around and then expect the girl to get an abortion if she got knocked up, and if she didn't want to, would threaten to kill her. Sounds like this had gone on three times that we know of (that got brought up in court).

One time mistakes, compared to somthing that is done that was threatned to be done many times-- I don't know why it changes my opinion of him for the worse, but it does.

Exactly, and BM says it better than I.

THe thing I read sounded like he had threatned a HS girlfreind with the same thing, so it looks like he had this issue all the time; looks like CU was lucky that it did not come up while he was here on the scholly.

And yes, the problem with pointing fingers is that you always have three more pointing back at you!!

I agree with you on this. It's a lame argument that never gets anyone anywhere.

Thanks for stating what I meant to say. They always justify their problems like we do ours. We just remember theirs better.:smile2:

Why are we focusing on Rae Carruth when it's Lawrence Phillips who is in the news again for being found guilty of felony assault?

The poster's facts are less than accurate about timing and who was or wasn't the stripper. But no matter how you slice it, Carruth and Phillips both belong behind bars.
