What's the deal with Cunningham?

Math - how does it work?

Is he practicing? I'd love to see him in the mix at DT, but have no idea what his progress has been.

Yep. He figures to see plenty of playing time. I expect to be the starter alongside Goree.

Sweet. I expected him to be a starter, too, but the only depth chart up at cubuffs.com is post-spring and still lists him as injured. Good news!

I purposely worded my title as to not scare anyone. Looks like I did a ****ty job of it.

I thought this was going to be a thread in the vein of the jon major thread. See what you did rino?

No ****. The title of the next thread I start in here about a player will probably be a paragraph like this:

I'm sure Curtis Cunningham is OK, but looking at the roster on cubuffs.com I see he is still listed as injured. This roster is dated June 15, 2009, so I am sure he is back practicing by now. However, I have not heard his name come up in practice reports, which makes me think maybe he is still hurt. Does anyone know his status?

Is it because you're concerned about him wearing down over the course of a game or you think he is just better suited as a role player?

My impression of Cunningham is that he is best coming off the bench to spell the starter, cause a change of pace, and give some quality minutes.

Last year maybe....this year I heard he is pencilled in as a starter at one tackle, with the idea that all DLs will rotate to keep 'em fresh. Particularly during Big 12 "spread" time!

Last year he was a true Frosh. He did very well considering but he was only months out of HS and stood up well.

This year he has had a full year in the program, a full year in the weight room, a year of varsity experience followed by a spring practice, and another year to physically and emotionally mature.

I would not be surprised to see him make a significant leap forward from where he was at the end of last year. I agree with rotating DL players to keep them fresh but I would be surprised if Cunningham is not clearly a starter and I think if not this year then next he will become a difference maker on the team.

Cunningham and Goree as starters, Pericek as a key back-up although he still needs to develop physically to stand up to significant PT. A huge key will be if Kaynor can step forward as a senior and be a solid part of the rotation. If so we will be in good shape, if not then Bonsu may be forced to play earlier than I would like.

We're going to see a lot Bonsu regardless. Bandison likes to play a NT and DT at the same time. Aside from Goree, we really do not have a true NT other than Bonsu. You will see all five play quite a bit.

You are probably right and I have heard that Bonsu is about as ready as a Fr. can be expected to be. I just want it to be a case of playing him when they want to not because they have to.

He was a big disappointment as a true freshmen, not able to dislodge Nicholas or Hypolite as a starter.... Must be a role player from here out.

That's Obi-1. But we have Lagrone Shield also at DE..... and a couple LB's who will put their hand on the ground ala Mr. Jones.
