Re: '10 CA LB Evan Palelei (Committed to Stanford)

Shouldn't Stanford be about done with 22 recruits?

You would think. But I still see prospects saying they've got new offers from Harbaugh. I've got a feeling that Stanford's going to struggle this year and have a lot of trouble keeping this class together all the way to NSD. If I had to put a number on it, I'd bet that no more than 15 of the 22 actually end up signing with Stanford.

Re: '10 CA LB Evan Palelei (Committed to Stanford)

Decommitted from Stanford

Another one falls out for Stanford. Palelei has now opened his recruiting back up. Not 100% sure what the issue was with Stanford, but there may have been an issue with his academic qualifications. Regardless, it's back on and his only 3 offers are CU, Stanford and UNLV. We're looking pretty good here.

Re: '10 CA LB Evan Palelei

Prolly had nothing to do with it, but Harbaugh and Stanford are in some hot water right now after their biggest booster just paid to have a $70,000 luxury bathroom and personal shower installed for him while the AD is losing money and laying people off.

You thought we had it bad at CU, but Stanford may have to cut fencing!! Say it aint so!!!

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

Would really like to see us land this guy. If I'm not mistaken we lead early on.

valdezj: it says '10 CA LB... it should say '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

I just fixed it - Buffnik

Cabral is recruiting him. You've got to think we're in excellent shape on this one.

What horse **** that is:

And if Arrillaga, the patriarch of Stanford athletics, insisted that Harbaugh's bathroom be built now, this summer, despite the layoffs and perception-be-damned, well:
Is there any chance he could donate $70,000 to help save a job?
Or the fencing team?

That athletic department, the alumni center, and the brand new stadium have all been built of Arillaga's dime who the **** does this reporter think he is asking him to save a job at a place he is personally bankrolling. if they need to do this to keep Harbaugh there so be it, this is the best Stanford football has looked in years. Man i ****ing hate people who try to tell others what to do with thier hard earned money.

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

I was pretty surprised when he committed to Stanford so early. I thought we'd at least get a visit.

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

Any idea what position he would play for us? A pass-rushing outside LB or somewhere else?

Also, would be very nice to get our foot in the door at Bishop Gorman. That school is a powerhouse in Las Vegas.

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

Found a short video interview on Palelei from August 20th at the Las Vegas Sun web site (pretty cool):

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

Also, found this one at Athlon Sports:

Evan Palelei, WLB (6-3, 230)
Evan is projected as an outside linebacker but has played plenty of ball along the offensive line. With those two positions on the resume, toughness should not be an issue with this kid. He also has a genetic advantage over most kids in that his father, Lonnie, played college ball at both Purdue and UNLV before being drafted by the Steelers in the 5th round of the 1993 NFL Draft. His older brother, Po'u, played offensive line for the Gaels and earned himself a scholarship from Arizona State in the '07 recruiting cycle. Palelei is currently committed to Stanford and, with eyes on an architectural engineering degree, is clearly a heady player.

[Coach Tony] Sanchez' take: "He comes from a football family where his dad was a 7-year NFL vet and plays like it. He is incredibly coachable and understands the game extremely well."

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

6-3 230. He can certainly grow into a nice DE. Maybe even a DT?

He's almost exactly the same size as Will Pericak was when he came out of high school. So yeah, depending on what kind of training regimen they put him on, he could grow into a lineman. I tend to think that with that kind of frame he'd be better suited for DE, but what the hell do I know.

What's his bio say?

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

He's trying to schedule a visit to Colorado:thumbsup:

...I'm really not trying to get too superstitious or jack this thread, but if I remember correctly, isn't your avatar like 3 for 3? Shouldn't Mr. Kasa being replaced with Mr. Martin or somebody?

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

Wow. Wonder what happened there? Stanford is one helluva school, and getting a chance to be there on scholarship is an amazing opportunity.

I read something about a falling out due to lack of contact and a question about whether he was borderline for Stanford admissions. And if you love football, there are very few programs that would be worse to go to than Stanford for that aspect of college life.

Re: '10 NV LB Evan Palelei

Going to be either CU or Oregon. Visit to Boulder set for Mizzou (October 31st). No visit to Oregon scheduled so far.
